Took the kiddies down to the game last night.  It was the first time any of us had been to the new ballpark.  They could care less but I was amazed.  I spent the first hour we were there just walking around checking the place out.  That park is amazing.

The game wasn't half bad either.  Howard's homerun landed about 50 feet to the right of me and that thing was hit a mile high too.  I was having a Major League moment at first saying "Too high, too high, too high."  I didn't think that thing would ever come down.  It seemed like everyone was hitting them out last night.  Burrell, Howard, Rollins, and Utley all homered if I remember correctly.  I can see why it's a hitters park now.  Even sitting out in right/center field I felt like I could have a conversation with anyone in the batter's box.

reportedly, when they posted the Abreau/Lidle trade during the game Yanks Stadium, the fans booed. :-D

I never realized he was 39 years old.

QuoteGermano was ranked by Baseball America as San Diego's seventh-best prospect prior to the 2005 season. He was dealt to the Reds later that season.

Germano appeared in two games (one start) this season for Cincinnati, going 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA. He spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Louisville, where he was 8-6 with a 3.69 ERA in 19 games

39, yet he also got a contract extension out of this trade....2007 + option for 2008  :-D

Geowhizzer

Why not?  His every-other-year pattern dictates that he'll suck next season.

Plus he'll be 40.

Get what you can.  Now.

How, get rid of Burrell.  Even if you have to hire a hitman to do it.

PoopyfaceMcGee

Burrell's like the only RH'd bat on the team, though.

How sad is it that the Phillies find themselves in this laughable predicament?

Philly is the 4th or 5th largest market in the country, they have a brand new stadium, yet they're selling off pieces like they're running a fricken garage sale.

How embarrassing is that?

Jon Leiber's trade value is dropping faster than Enron stock in this game.

Bottom 2, Phils down 4-0.

PhillyGirl

Leiber blows. I wish he'd have been tossed instead of Lidle.

Not even the Yankees are stupid enough to pay Lieber $7M next year.  Almost, but not quite.

I heard something on ESPN radio today (couldn't tell you who, though) that said the Phillies wanted to include Leiber, but the Yankees insisted on Lidle being included instead.  There was a supposed 2nd trade involving Lidle that had to be squelched in order to complete the Abreu trade.

All rumors and stuff, but that was being bantered by the talking heads.

Leiber just doesn't have anything today.

i think youre thinking football numbers...7 mil for one year is not that much in baseball these days for an average to good starting pitcher
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

I agree, IGY.

However, Leiber is neither average nor good.  He's fair at best and is quite probably done for good at this point.

I hope I'm wrong, but it certainly doesn't look good.
