I got hard thinking about this rotation next year:

Zito
Wife Beater
Lieber
Wolf/Lidle/random 4th starter
Hamels

Think about that, and factor in no Ryan Franklin or Arthur Rhodes into the bullpen you have yourself a team that will probably win around 86 games and choke in september.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Just saw that on TV.  The announcer said: "Speculate at your own risk."
Fletch:  Can I borrow your towel for a sec? My car just hit a water buffalo.

So long, Bobby.

Good luck dealing with the fans in New York.

I'm sure they'll appreciate your work ethic and hustle.

When Hamels went down last night and they brought Franklin in with the bases loaded I was expecting a complete meltdown.  Instead he threw 2 pitches and got an easy double play ball.  I was amazed.

And drunk.

:o

Give us something good, Pat. I hate to see Bobby go, but if they do trade him it better be a good goddamn trade.

According to ESPN.com he and Lidle have been traded to the Yanks, it does not yet say for what.

No shtein?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!??!??!??!?!?

BigEd76

Rumor is the Yanks' #1 pick last year C.J. Henry, reliever Matt Smith and a 3rd lesser prospect

Basically it was a total salary dump and the Phils got nothing.  yay

PhillyPhreak54

QuoteESPN.com's Jayson Stark reported the Yankees will send 18-year-old minor-league shrotstop C.J. Henry -- their No. 1 pick in 2005 -- and 27-year-old left-handed reliever Matt Smith. The Phillies will also pick one other minor-leauge player from an agreed-upon list, while the Yankees will take on responsibility for Abreu and Lidle's contracts

What. The. Farg.

Slopslopslopslopslopslopslopsloppppppp.

PhillyPhreak54

And why take on a SS?

Jesus Christ.

I know they had to give Lidle in order for NY to eat Abreu's contract. But gettings this slop in return is bullshtein.

Hope the Abreu haters are happy. We got rid of him and got slop.

BigEd76

Now we can trade for Adrian Beltre  :-D

PhillyPhreak54

F Ed Wade and F Pat Burrell.

They are part of this.

Wade for giving out the fat money and Pat for refusing to waive his NTC and for being a general Hoyda.

If that was the best offer out there then so be it. Abreu isn't nearly worth what he's going to make next season so getting something for him in return is better than getting nothing. Plus this frees up more money to sign an F/A in the offseason. I'm not an Abreu hater but I'm glad to see him go.
