Not blaming the refs.

But my issue is this....The players can't realize what penalties are going to be called consistently with the new rules when they aren't called both ways. Sorry, it was BS tonight.

The officials CANNOT do this during this critical time while the NHL learns the new rules. They HAVE TO BE CONSISTENT and call it both ways, and tonight, they CLEARLY did not do that.

I want to see the NHL work. The calls tonight shows me nothing GOOD about the "new" NHL.

i know, they were bad calls, but good teams need to overcome bad calls.  there's no doubt that the refs reverted back into the good ol' days of anything goes in the 3rd period, except for the Domi Dive and the poor call on Richards.

that being said, this team's special teams have been terrible this year, definitley something to work on.

either way, there is no reason to panic, the team hasn't played in over a year, and half the roster has turned over on top of that.  there is going to be a period of time, maybe even the 1st half of the season, where this team has to learn to play together.  if you remember, when Hitch first got here, it took his 1st team almost half the year to pickup what he was trying to do.  and this is basically a new team for him, so except the same adjustment period.

I don't care what the reason is. THEY AREN'T PLAYING WELL. That is the point. Don't give me the "don't watch them" shtein either. I'm a fan and I have every right to be critical. We just got beat in every facet of the game by a winless team. Not good. New players? I don't care. New rules? I don't care. They better get it together. No excuses. Excuses are for losers, and the weak.

I agree with that. I just saw a lot of players looking around like "wtf was that?" and rightfully so. Forsberg was amazed that that slash went uncalled.

And another thing. Who the farg made up this schedule? They play the Pens and Islanders this weekend and then are off for a whole week? 5 games in 3 weeks? Ridiculous.

still way early but a few things i believe they need...

more than anything is the need for a goal scorer...gagne is the only player on the team who posesses the capability to be a pure goal scorer and in the 'new nhl' you need more firepower than that

they also have no legit pp point man...someone who can quaterback the pp from the back and who has a first class cannon...again in the new nhl with all the penalties you need this

I'm still on the bandwagon. Being critical doesn't count as being off it. Not everyone guzzles the kool aid by the gallon like you do.
