Cards may lose Rolen for season

FOXSports.com

According to a report in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Cardinals third baseman Scott Rolen is facing the very real possibility of season-ending surgery on his injured left shoulder.

More than three months after the All-Star third baseman suffered the injury in a collision with Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Hee Seop Choi, his condition has not improved. Rolen remains unable to take batting practice.
Rolen recently had the shoulder reevaluated by Dr. Timothy Kremchek, the Cincinnati Reds' medical supervisor. While Rolen declined to discuss specific recommendations, a source familiar with Kremchek's findings told the Post-Dispatch that surgery appears inevitable.

So if surgery to repair his torn labrum is inevitable, the only question remaining is when?

"I have a decision to make," Rolen said. "It's a very personal decision and something I prefer to handle in private rather than publicly."

It may be a decision that is made for Rolen, as time is running out on the regular season. Cardinals GM Walt Jocketty suggested on Wednesday that the window is closing for Rolen's return.

"If we get to the point where there's only one or two weeks left in the season, and he hasn't played, I'm not sure that's going to work," Jocketty said.

Maybe Scotty can have one of the fans from "Heaven" massage it for him...

So he won't go 0-14 in the world series again? Damnit.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

The White Sox forfeited a makeup game with Boston because they didn't want to play on Labor Day.  I bet Steinbrenner is loving that one....  :-D
