T.O. vows 'a season for the ages'

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Terrell Owens thanked fans for their support, said he would be in camp on Wednesday, and vowed "a season for the ages" in a message posted on his Web site on Friday.

On www.terrellowens.com, a letter to fans from the Web page staff said that Owens will not be a distraction when he returns from his one-week dismissal, which resulted from a run-in the wide receiver had on Wednesday with coach Andy Reid.

"During practice and work-related situations he has been and will be attentive and responsive," the statement said. "Terrell only asks what every other worker in America asks for, respect and dignity."

Owens showed up at the Ravens-Falcons preseason game in Atlanta last night. He had not talked to many teammates or coaches while in camp, which the Web site said was Owens' way of behaving.

"Terrell has gone out of his way to diffuse the tension by keeping to himself in all non-practice related affairs," it said.

Apparently, Owens did not want media attention when he appeared in his front yard last week shirtless and doing sit-ups while conducting interviews the day he was kicked out of training camp.

The Web site claims that his image has taken a hit because he is a victim of the media.

"Regrettably, recent events have unfolded in a way that may paint a negative picture of Terrell," it said. "This situation has mushroomed far beyond what should be considered adequate coverage, and Terrell has become the media's favorite whipping boy. While this is discouraging, Terrell knows this is part of the business."

An argument between Owens and Reid, Owens said this week, resulted from a conversation based on Owens' skipping out on a second autograph session for fans.

The statement said that Owens' fans have been a motivating force for the receiver.

"This positive reinforcement has inspired Terrell to work as hard as he can to improve on last year's standout season. He plans to catch more balls than he ever has, and believes his on-the-field heroics will far outweigh any off-field criticism thrown his way. Through his actions, Terrell has continued to defy the negative speculation that has surrounded him, and he has proven himself to be a professional."

Please let Trot and Dawkins talk sense into you. Please come back and just become as much of the team as you possibly can. Please, for the first time in your life, be the bigger person and say that you're sorry to Reid, Childress AND your QB.

Most of us know that with you the way you were last year, this team has a chance to get back to the SB and win it. With you acting like you have been this year, or with you not on the team? No so much.

And please, DO that final thing....catch more balls than you ever have and make this a season for the ages.

Anyone else just catch Sports Reporters? Some idiot was sayign that the NFL needs to rid itself of Terrell Owens.

So let me get this straight.....wife beaters, coke dealers, lying witnesses to murder, players that intentionally hit others with their car, drunk drivers who KILL people with their car, drug users, deadbeat daddies and illegal gun toters can all be a part of the NFL, but pouty, loudmouth babies who cry that they want bigger contracts should be shown the door?

I hear ya' PG. Although I really don't care about most players one way or the other, the media will imortalize a guy like Ray Lewis and trash a guy like TO. Makes you wonder.
