technically, Scareface was the best remake ever.

most of the rest of the remakes are the same as the origninal, just shteintier with more "no so" special effects.

although, i did like the new Dawn of the Dead. that zombie baby rocked

That scene kicks so much ass. Not only does the baby pop out in full on zombie rage but they all sack up and shoot it in its smug little zombie face. Goddammit I'm getting fired up just thinking about it.

I think you mean Red Dragon, but that's a good question. Manhunter was WAY better than Red Dragon, and it is definitely a remake. Obviously the original wasn't as slick and stylized and didn't emphasize Lecter as much, but overall it was a much better movie.

if you meant red dragon. then yes i do. it's from the same source material (red dragon, the book). it tells the same story, just refocus on lecter a little more.

and manhunter was worlds better than red dragon (red dragon was ok, but not great by any means)

i watched a very good documentary called overnight.   It's about the director/writer of "The Boondock Saints."   Basically the guy wrote the script while he was a bouncer/bartender (or whatever) and it was purchased by miramax.  He was also in a band and they got offers for big contracts etc.   He went from a nobody to a big time player overnight.   The documentary shows how he farged it all up.  lol.  this guy is a classic ahole.

Just saw War of The Worlds. Tom Cruise was good, despite my reservations. The special effects, and the premise are winners too. In the end, although it makes a little sense, you still leave wondering what the hell you just watched. Too many loose ends, and too abrupt of an ending. Speilberg also uses some cheap imagery meant to tug on the heartstrings of Americans who witnessed the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. They build Cruise into the likely hero here, the guy who is gonna save the Earth, and instead, you end up watching him play hide and seek for two hours with a couple of raptors in the kitchen a bunch of ruthless aliens who are so far advanced but fail to bring along the penicillin.

Nice time waster, scary moments, decent acting, and you get your moneys worth in action,  but a great re telling of the story it is not. "Alright" is the phrase you will wanna use to describe it.
