hes your backup slot...you really want him elsewhere

mclane already hinted at the FO being annoyed at darby's rehab last year and his inconsistent play. if they arent going to resign him (they arent), getting a pick back for him makes sense.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Darby blew for the majority of the year but he picked it up a bit in the playoffs. He's the most physically gifted DB on the roster but he gets lost in coverage and looks confused. If Howie gets a 3rd for him that would be good value.

theres no one on the current roster who can play slot except for robinson

Malcolm Jenkins

hes good to match up against a te or a big long wr but he cant handle those small shifty slot wr's nor should he be able to...at the end of the day hes a safety

Munson

Darby was always either just a half step behind where he needed to be, or would be in the right position but not make the play. He did pick it up in the playoffs a bit though.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I share in the worry about Robinson being an aberration this season but even if he sucks they've got depth. I'm ok with trading Darby bc like lil guy said they're not re-signing him

hbionic

Darby go abused by Eli, and the QB's from the latter part of the schedule.

The fact that the Playoff opponents didn't capitalize on him biting on every out was shame on them.

Darby did make plays but he was too much of a liability. I don't see how Douglas couldn't do the same thing Darby did. Douglas was playing solid as the weeks went by.

Keep Robinson, Mills, Douglas, Jones, and the new guy.

Later Darby. Thanks for your service.

Since we're talking Darby...this from the Super Bowl thread

I can't remember a good Darby play.  Help me out.  Every time I remember, he's playing super soft, ten yards off, he's playing catch up to someone who ran past him, or he's missing a tackle.

Mills I've love from the first finger wag when he was a scrub nobody.

Darby threw that key block that sprung Robinson against the Vikings, iirc it was after Kyle Rudolf scored the 1st TD after the D came out in disarray. If not it isn't a pic 6 and the Vikes were never right after that. Darby had a key int to beat the Raiders and one against dallas with the scored tied, or nearly so. Mills got torched a lot on slugo and double moves (not that he was the only one) through middle and latter part of the season and probably should have lost the playoff game against ATL with a PI against Julio Jones. Obviously, if that happens, no SB for us.

Edit: It is true the corners played soft, especially earlier in the year when they were a hot mess, but it was a good call by Schwartz to go to a bend but don't break, play off coverage, and be a sure tackler. As the backfield gelled and Darby came back from injury they could play tighter and a bit more man.

thing you gotta remember with darby is he joined the team right before the season then was hurt for the first half...i think hes better than people give him credit for and his ceiling is higher than anyone in the secondary with the possible exception of sidney jones...problem is the cap and he hits free agency a year before mills (even tho hes only three months older)...but just as a player id rather have darby than mills

I heard Mills has green hair though. Not sure when he did that but it has to be factored into his talent evaluation.

Roid boy restructured to create cap space

Whatever Howie did it created $7.5 million in cap space. So they only need to shed $2.2 million to get under.
