QuoteFree agent tight end Trey Burton turned down a contract offer from the Philadelphia Eagles he "didn't consider serious" according to Matt Lombardo of the Newark Star-Ledger.
Bummer, was hoping they could use Celek's salary to keep him. An upside to Howie giving outsized contracts is that it seemed to inspire players to live up to it and go all in for team. It was a risk and they have a ring to show for it. A downside might be that with so little cap space, others who are due for a payday may feel slighted with the new slate of offers. It would be a shame to see Graham go out this way but I could definitely see it.

The man. The myth. The legend.

TAMPA – There are 16 Philadelphia Eagles jerseys hanging in Yankees reliever Tommy Kahnle's locker, dating back to when he was in elementary school 20 years ago (and a full foot and a hundred pounds smaller, at least). David Robertson, his bullpen-mate, locker-neighbor, and trade-mate in last July's deal with the White Sox, described him as "an eight-year-old superfan" and shook his head in disgust when Kahnle was asked about the collection early last week.

The actually 28-year-old Kahnle's jerseys aren't down in Tampa with him just because the Eagles won the Super Bowl less than a month ago. He brings "four to five" favorites with him every road trip, he said. He also brings a big WWE belt with him, too, and Jordan Montgomery, his other locker-neighbor, described him as traveling with a bag stuffed to the brim.

There's now an Eagles helmet hanging off the belt rack on Kahnle's locker, and a few more non-Yankees jerseys jammed in as well. It's by far the most uniquely furnished locker in the Yankees' spring clubhouse and it seems that all of his rabid enthusiasm has earned him a reputation as, well, a very big little brother.

If Kahnle's passion for the Eagles is something for his teammates to mock, it's also something that helps him understand the fans outside Steinbrenner Field or Yankee Stadium. Kahnle yells profanities at the television when he's frustrated during an Eagles game or refers to the team as "we" without giving it another thought. He recognizes that there are tens of thousands of people in Yankee jerseys who do the same thing when he's on the field. It's just that on those Eagles gamedays, he finds the situation in reverse.

Kahnle's not from Pennsylvania or South Jersey; he's not Mikey from Millville taking all his bros to the Super Bowl. Kahnle is from upstate New York near Albany and says he began rooting for the Eagles when he was four or five after he watched them play the Jets. His favorite color is green, and he says he was drawn to the Eagles over the Jets because he liked the bird on the helmet. He grew to love Randall Cunningham, and that was that.

His father is a Vikings fan, he said, because he likes the color purple and was a kid when the team was still fairly new. (Kahnle said he gave his dad some space after that incredible NFC Championship game in January, in case you're wondering.)

In the hallway leading from the Yankees' clubhouse to the four fields that surround the facility in Tampa, Kahnle gave The Athletic a brief tour of all the jerseys he brought with him this spring. He claims he owns more, too, but these were the only ones worthy of making the trip.

The collection he has on hand—as curated as it may be—tells the tale of changing trends in Kahnle's player and sartorial preferences and the preferences of the NFL in choosing exclusive manufacturers for its officially licensed merch.

Here's a rundown:

Brian Westbrook jersey from when Kahnle was in middle school.
Carson Wentz rookie jersey.
A White Reggie White jersey from Mitchell & Ness that looks unworn.
Randall Cunningham jersey from when Kahnle was in college.
Alshon Jeffrey jersey his wife bought him this past Christmas.
Jordan Hicks jersey from 2016 or 2017.
Darren Sproles jersey from 2016.
Zach Ertz jersey from 2015.
Mychal Kendricks jersey from 2015.
Nelson Agholor jersey from 2015 or 2016, before he changed his number.
Donovan McNabb jersey from elementary school.
Donovan McNabb jersey from middle school. This is the crown jewel of the collection. It's a size XL—and this is from when NFL jerseys were thin and mesh-y so it hangs like a tunic even today on the 6'1" Kahnle. He said his mom bought it for him and bought it according to the size he wore in t-shirts. It's a relic of its time.
Fletcher Cox jersey from 2013.
A white Ricky Watters jersey from when he was age six or so. It's a boy's size 12-14 and tiny in comparison to the rest of them.
A Brian Dawkins jersey from 2005 or 2006.
A Brian Dawkins jersey from a couple years ago because he wanted the Nike version instead of Reebok.
While Kahnle was running through the assortment of jerseys, CC Sabathia walked past and looked disgusted at the display. Sabathia's a Raiders fan, so there's no recent history over which to dispute. "Throw 'em away," he said over his shoulder.

The grief from his teammates doesn't phase Kahnle, who you can sense gets a perverse pleasure out of being rowdy and annoying them sometimes.

"I guess it's a little excessive," Kahnle concedes about his traveling Eagles-centric wardrobe. "But in my mind, it's what's right."

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Lol @ him loving Randall. He's 28. He might remember Randall's 98 year with the Vikings, but he definitely doesn't remember Randall with the Eagles.

QB Eagles

So these are the kinds of people who buy the camo shirts and still wear their McNabb jerseys.

SD

I'm watching an old episode of Bar Rescue, Taffer sends in some guy from Barstool sports and Chris Long. Bar is in St. Louis so it was with his time with the Rams.

It's like me saying that I love Wilbert Montgomery. I was like 6 when he was good. I don't remember anything specific that he did, I just knew his name at the time and that he played for the Eagles.

Practically everything I know about him was learned after the internet became a thing.

Rome

The guy is a big Eagles fan and he wears it proudly.  Definitely mock worthy.
