7-9 or 8-8

It could be enough to keep them in the NFC east too because the rest of the teams suck too.

The defense and special teams are what buoy them this year

I was thinking 6-10 with Bradford.  With Wentz, it could be 3-13.

i actually thought there was a chance they could win a bad division with bradford....but yeah with wentz its going to get super ugly

all i have to say is thank god they got the vikings pick...because even with it its going to hurt watching cleveland make their pick...without it would have been one of the hrdest and most embarrassing things in the history of philly sports and thats saying something

i keep hearing how awesome this defense is going to be from all the beat writers...is that where you are getting it from?....or do you think the defensive roster is actually great...cause i look up and down the roster and while i dont think they suck or anything other than fletcher cox who are these great defenders they have that are going to turn into the 85 bears...cause for them to win 8 games thats about how good this defense is going to have to be

Unlike some people I use my eyes and knowledge to form opinions. I don't need beat writers to tell me what to think. They're useful for quotes and tidbits of knowledge that pertains to the team that we would otherwise not know.

Their defensive line is good. Probably can classify it as really good.

The pressure they'll likely get will help negate the weakness at corner. I think Schwartz will scheme well too. The LBs are decent. Provided Jordan Hicks stays healthy.

so they have a possible really good but not great d line

bad corners

and

decent linebackers

but the defense is going to carry what i think we all agree is going to be a horrendously bad offense?

i dont even disagree with your descriptions of the defense i just dont get how you can look at it that way and think they are going to be the best defense in the league which again is what they will need to be to get this offense to 8 wins

thats why i asked if you were following the beat guys who all rave about how the defense is going to be and you are hoping they are right...instead of seeing whats on paper and going 8 wins

The corners aren't bad but they're not lock down all pro's

You do realize really good defenses don't always have 11 studs right?

And I don't like to over use the word great. They've got one great player on defense. But being really good isn't bad.

I've never said they'd be the best in the league. And while I don't quite believe in the offense I don't think we are looking at some 1997-1999 shtein either.

I mean I think they're 7-9/8-8...too homerish for you?

ice grillin you

its definitely homerism on your part but what makes this so different is that you arent over evaluating the individual talent to make the team better you are actually evaluating their players pretty fairly which is huge for you but then you are completely ignoring those evaluations and just giving them extra wins because its the eagles

in other words if you said something homerish like the defense is going to absolutely dominate this year and probably be the best in the nfl and the eagles are going to win 8 at least the two statements go together....but you are saying the defense has one great player and just has a chance to be really good (not even great) but still they are going to carry the team to 8 wins...its like you are just magically handing the eagles a bunch of wins

i think like the normal homer j better than this one

Lolol

Here's my rationale

Normally they'd be 5-11/6-10 but I think since the defense will be pretty good that gives them a dub or two they normally wouldn't have. If they had a dumpster fire defense like dallas or the Giants I'd be saying 5-11

ice grillin you

giving them 5 wins with a dumpster fire defense and offense would be hugely homerish

if they had a dumspter fire defense this year zero wins would be an appropriate prediction

basically in any given year to come up with your win total prediction you just take the average of all sane eagle fans win totals add 4-5 wins and there is yours

no you are perfectly on course this year

most people see an implosion and 3-4 wins

you got 8

I'm gonna try this homer thing on for size.  I see them winning 4 games....in the playoffs.

lol

to be fair to j the difference btwn 4 wins and 8 in the nfl isnt a lot...but just on paper 8 wins is homerish

I just don't see them as four wins awful.

Let's see what happens.

QB Eagles

Vegas has the O/U at 7 and that's not ridiculous. I just have a hard time looking at Doug Pederson and thinking he knows how to coach an NFL team to more than five wins in a season.
