I actually think the opposite ... I think people have become conditioned to the counter-narrative (if critics like it they're usually wrong egg headed douchebags), when in reality I find myself agreeing usually with the critical consensus (subject to outliers in both directions obviously).

i've honestly never read a movie review in my life. have maybe looked up some articles after the fact once i've already watched something but I just don't see the point. most people have horrible taste and I like going into a movie completely blind and being surprised.

you have to find reviewers who have the same taste as you do and when you find them they are invaluable...no different than a friend...like i might have a particular friend whos opinion on movies i wouldn't give half a second to listening...but then i have some friends who if they tell me something is great then i trust that its great

on cf smeags is a perfect example...id jump in front of truck in nice last night before id ever see anything he liked where as legendz says something is really good my interest would be peaked

Caught Black Mass last night. Not terrible, but not great either. The makeup people went crazy with the prosthetics and such; everybody looked like their faces were rubber masks. It was interesting to see the story played out, but overall some of the scenes looked forced. I kept thinking of the Medellin movie scenes in Entourage.

yeah the second I saw johnny depp and the way he looked I knew no matter how good the movie was I could never see it...and then the movie didn't even get that good of reviews
