Not that they weren't as greedy, but the years have given an awareness/lack of tolerance/weariness of such things.  And they do seem more overtly that way... they're not even trying to hide each successive money-grab.

Of course, 30 years ago I was a young, stupid teen still thinking he was going to play major league baseball,  so I could have just missed their overtness.

Sgt PSN

Probably the latter. MNF started in the 70s, right?  What about SNF?  I can only imagine that it was initially met with resistance from the 30 and over club who didnt want to stay up late when they had to work the next day, and now it's a great American tradition. But MNF had to be an obvious money grab.  What were experiencing now is just part of the cycle. Kids probably love it and think we're old and out of touch for hating it.

age can certainly help you have a different outlook on things but the points about goodell and the hypocrisy of the nfl are spot on. you know they are going to keep pushing for more reg games too.

for the record, I didn't watch one minute of football sunday. I could've done the yardwork getting the leaves up Saturday but figured why bother, I can just do it sunday during football.

I didn't watch much on Sunday either. Not because I'm trying to make some statement to the league, but the Eagles over the last 3 weeks just has me generally disinterested in football.  I did watch last night though....well, it was on while I was playing Contest of Champions on my tablet.

Btw....if you dig comic book stuff, play Contest of Champions. Fun time kill.

I don't think anyone in the year 2015 is willing to give their full attention to professional football for 15 hours a week, never mind the unlimited amount of bullshtein programming that it drags along behind it.

The man. The myth. The legend.

QB Eagles

McCown out for the year. Life just keeps getting better for the Browns.

Actually, that's probably the best thing that could happen to them. They're almost forced at this point to play Johnny Foosball for the rest of the year and can figure out if he's their guy or not.

QB Eagles

Makes sense on paper, but:
1) we know he's not going to be their guy
2) it feels like they were down enough on him to dump him after this season whether he got a chance to play or not

Sgt PSN

I don't think he's their guy, but they've got 1st round pick invested in him, so if they're keeping him for the rest of the season, they might as well play him. Either that our just cut him now and move on.

i don't care about any of this but can you imagine if cam newton or dez bryant was the one talking like this?  MA would be out of their minds calling them thugs and talking about the children.  i'm sure not for jj though, just good ol american fun there.
