Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Yeah, it turns out you can terminate contracts whenever you feel like. This is America, IGY.

The man. The myth. The legend.

QuoteLAS VEGAS — Nevada regulators have ordered daily fantasy sports sites like DraftKings and FanDuel to shut down, saying they can't operate in the state without a gambling license.

Yeah, I'd expect the same thing if UPS was given the legal authority to shut FedEx down whenever they want.

Laws against gambling seem like a crazy holdover from the Middle Ages to me. You are hereby accused of playing dice with the devil at midnight -- break him on the wheel! shtein's as backwards as the laws against sexual behavior between consenting adults and would seem even more bonkers if we didn't grow up with a world with this idiocy already normalized.

Sure the commercials are annoying as farg, but that's a petty reason to close down an industry.

they should shut it down cause its stupid as shtein and a con

its basically a more fraudulent version of a lottery cept none of the profits are for the public good

at least this one targets middle to upper class white people tho

not true...betting 25 bucks on the result of a real game to win 25 bucks is not a con

betting 5 bucks with the promise of possibly winning a million on a game run by a computer against unknown opponents is a con...its like playing a slot machine which is the ultimate short term con

All these gambling games are set up with a certain expected return to the gambler that is less than 100%. Whether it's due to the programming on a slot machine paying out 98% or the vig going to your bookie, these games are all rigged. I have no problem with it, since it's just another way of paying for entertainment. And you can feasibly set up these cons so that many people will actually come out ahead, at least in the short term. If your con is especially effective, you can get people thinking they are actually good at playing your con.

I don't get the idea that lines, moneylines, moving the lines for teasers, parlays, over/unders etc. are somehow more legitimate for wagering or less nerdy than any other statistics that can be generated by a game. Whether it's the score of a game or how many yards Devonta Freeman runs for, it's just a source of statistics in a game of chance. Different forms of gambling overlay different sets of rules on the things that happen in the game. If you use the official NFL rulebook to determine the winners, a corner bookie's spread, or some nerd's algorithm, it's all the same shtein.

These DFS sites are new and you don't use them. Neither do I. They seem to combine the worst aspects of sports betting and fantasy leagues, both of which I do enjoy. But obviously other people are getting some enjoyment out of using that shtein. I don't see why they should be denied the opportunity.

I enjoyed FanDuel a lot last year. This year has been annoying from baseball to football. But I don't like it being shut down. It does need regulations though.

I'm going gambling this weekend. Over to Louisiana.
