People say a lot of things are good. Did you know enough people watched Entourage that they made a movie for it? If anyone told you that was good, would you go see it or immediately sever all ties with them?

Enough people watched Entourage that HBO ordered Ballers.

I'm sure this has been discussed here but Mad Max was farging outstanding.

And apparently post-apocalyptic Australia is populated entirely by male freaks and female supermodels. Sign me up.

i watched the Kingsman over the weekend.  it's a stupid spy film but it has cool action.  it doesn't take itself seriously whatsoever which is good for what it is
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

I decided to watch a documentary, and I picked a terrible one called Side by Side. It is two hours of Keanu Reeves watching Hollywood directors and cinematographers whine about how awful digital cameras are while they crank one out over a pile of film reels while George Lucas and Robert Rodriguez look on in disgust.

The man. The myth. The legend.

watched a few docs over the past week

hot girls wanted - about young girls who get into porn and the toll getting their buttholes pounded on camera for cash takes on them. very well done and interesting but not the strongest story in the world. 3/5

showrunner - about people who run tv shows. totally up my alley. totally meh. was more of a news report than a doc. no story, no narrative. it rehashed 1000 things ive read before since i devour this stuff, but the rest of you might find some of the information new because youre not nerds like me. 2/5

life itself - about roger ebert. heartbreaking. powerful. joyous. enlightning. 4.5/5
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

This is an all-time great movie review.

Daughter wanted to see the new Jurassic Park movie even though she never saw the first 3. Really had no interest in seeing it other than on cable. The plot and ending were predictable and they used too much CGI. What's amazing is how much better the dinosaurs in the original movie looked compared to this movie. If you're going to use cgi keep it simple. I guess for a summer popcorn flick it was ok. The original is still the tits and this one falls far short.

i have no desire to see it and i never will but i have to say the trailers for that new jurrasic are incredibly well done
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

Just finished watching Chef with Favreau and Sofia Vergara - very enjoyable movie.

Also watched a docu on Kurt Russell's dad owning an independent minor league team in Portland called The Battered bastiches of Baseball...cool film. I didn't know they existed nor did I know Kurt Russell was a ball player

Rome

So half the country seems to have gone to see the dinosaur movie.   Not sure why.  My kid is past the age where that sort of thing is entertaining to her and my wife didn't want to see it either.  I have no interest in it whatsoever.

I did read that Chris Pratt is in line to star in the Indiana Jones reboot, though.  As much of a case of sacrilege it would be to reboot that movie, I could totally see him in the role.

Oh and I saw the latest Terminator spot.  I can't imagine anything looking worse than that.

SD

Chris Pratt would be great as Indiana Jones and as a big fan of the first three I'd welcome more movies as long as Lucas isn't allowed anywhere near production. It's a real easy formula to duplicate and there are many great directors who could pull it off.

Munson

Jurassic World was great for what it was. Didn't try to take itself seriously like the other sequels did.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

i have no idea if jurrasic was good or not...i suspect it lends itself to the lowest common demoniator of the american public (stupid white people) but i also have to say that the trailers for it were as well done as ive ever seen...they almost had me thinking it was good...so its not even remotelyt surprising that it took in gobs of cake
