seriously though, i dont think there is a universal protocol with 911. my township gets upset with non emergency calls to 911. especially with accidents. philly, forget it unless sommeone is dying from the crash.

some moron cabbie decided to go straight while in the inner left turn lane when we left the playoff game against the saints. i took pics of my car's damage, got the dude's info. he kept going on that his company requires a police report. i kept telling him the cops do not handle these anymore. well right after that one of the traffic cops came over and yelled at us, yo, get the hell out of the way, there wont be a police report so move it or get towed.

DEA Agents Who Abandoned Student in Cell for 5 Days Get Slap on the Wrist

In April of 2012, Daniel Chong was arrested during a DEA raid at his friends' home over marijuana. The engineering student was fully cooperative, yet after his arrest the agents "forgot" about him and left him handcuffed in isolation in a cell with no windows or bathroom for five days.

Not receiving any food or water during the five terrifying days, Chong was forced to drink his own urine to survive. Believing he was going to die, he even bit into his glasses to break them, so that he could use a shard of glass to attempt to scrawl a farewell message to his mother into his own arm. 

"I didn't just sit there quietly. I was kicking the door yelling," Chong said last year at a news conference where he spoke about his near-death experience.

Exactly. Give me a break about following 911 protocol. If there is some other line you're supposed to call, they should be able to connect you in about 5 seconds. But there's no percentage in this for the cops and since police departments are basically revenue centers these days why bother helping someone over a hit and run with no damage? Protect and serve my ass.

More cops. Police Shoot And Kill Unarmed Man Near Venice Sign

The shooting took place around 11:30 p.m., just steps away from the Venice sign near Winward and Pacific avenues, CBS Los Angeles reports. LAPD officers were responding to call from an employee at Cairo Cowboy saying that there was a homeless man with a dog harassing people. When officers arrived, they saw a man arguing with a bouncer outside of the bar. After confronting the man, a struggle ensued between two officers and the man, and then gunshots were fired, ABC 7 reports.

It's not clear at this point how many shots were fired or if more than one officer shot the man, according to the L.A. Times.

The man was rushed to a hospital where he later died.

When I lived in Ocean Beach there was a homeless man with obvious mental illness who was brandishing a knife. He wasn't threatening anyone but he had it out. Cops told him several times to drop it. He wouldn't so they killed him. Apparently there's no grey area with lethal force.

Anyone familiar with typical LEO response times for home alarm systems?  Yesterday I got a call that our motion detector picked up something inside the house.  The security company called and offered to contact local police to respond to the alarm.  I agreed, knowing only our dog should be there and that he's never set it off before.  Rushed back home, checked the house, looks like a malfunction or the dog needs to hit the treadmill.  Only thing I'm not happy with was no officer showed up in the 30 minutes it took me to get home, nor after that. 

I'm damn happy it was a false alarm, but it's a little disconcerting that no one ever showed up.

Haha...a cop near me showed up to call WEEKS after a reported break-in. Not only was it weeks later, but it was the wrong house. Then got surprised by the dog in the backyard and shot it dead. Nice work, right?

cop came to my house a few months ago less than five minutes after we called 911 but I live near a casino and there are a million cops around here

more than likely a cop didn't show up to your crib because you for all intents and purposes live in montana
