Rome

Just went over my bar bill from the trip.

$100 for the Jameson's bottle and $180 in beers.  $280 total.  Way less than I thought.  I think I got a bunch of freebies.

Update:  AdCouncil response...  Creeps me out even more

QuoteWe appreciate those of you who have taken the time to voice your concerns about our Caregivers Assistance PSA and concerns about the background audio file. Our pro bono ad agency who created this video, used a pre-existing, fictional vintage audio file as ambient background noise to invoke an earlier era; it was not intended to provide any additional messaging or for any additional purpose.

We apologize for any confusion surrounding the video and hope that the audio won't distract from the social good that has and continues to be accomplished through this Ad Council campaign, which you can learn more about here: http://www.adcouncil.org/Our-Campaigns/Family-Community/Caregiver-Assistance.

So why use pre exisiting fictional vintage audio as ambient noise talking about Martial law being imposed to protect citizens from the outbreak.

Just watched Stewart's interview with Judy Miller.  That was amazing and summarized exactly what will be missed.

Munson

Ugh, seriously. I almost felt bad for her, because he was grilling her.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

i was hit and ruined tonight. coming off the highway ramp into DC at a red light, dude came flying up behind me and just smashed the shtein out of my car. got out to talk and dude just swerved around me and took off. but i got his license plate #.

as i'm standing in the middle of the highway ramp, no one is even slowing down, so instead of getting run over, i just drive to my crib which is like 6-7 blocks away. amazingly my tank of an old VW has like no damage.

call insurance, they advice me to call non emergency number. who then tell me to call 911 to file a report. 25 min. later cops show up and are pretty much the most condescending pricks i've ever met. why didn't you call 911 right away? because i feel ok and didn't want to get run over in the highway. WHERE'S THE DAMAGE? i told you it's amazing that it's not that bad.

eventually after 10 min. i'm enraged to the point where I think they might take me to jail. they told me it all doesn't add up because i left the scene. no, the mother farger who hit me left the scene. i was like do you think i'm lying and he was like people do it all the time.

only reason i called them is in case i wake up tomorrow and my neck is farged. which it feels like it is but that may easily be all in my head. i basically forced them to take the guys plate, saying there must have been a reason he ran. they took it but it was like pulling teeth.

there are few times that i've been madder in my life. such pieces of shtein. but my old ass Jetta is a machine. have no idea how it's not worse.

I'm farging so steaming. I mean thinking back yeah I guess I didn't follow protocol but I always thought you didn't call 911 unless it was life threatening. That is not true. The security guard in my building had to bring me inside because I was so irate with these bitches. The second guy who first cop called for backup I had already tried to flag down previously but we made eye contact and he kept moving.

PhillyPhreak54

Hope you're ok man.  That's zesty but it's Big city police in action. Luckily your ride isn't shredded and you weren't mowed down. Doesn't DC have a "move your ass to a safe area" rule in situations like that? Dude the other night here was stopped helping a wreck and a drunk hit the scene and the guy was vaulted over the goddamn bridge into a river for an untimely death.

At least they showed up! I was hit several years ago and waited four hours at the accident site and each call to the cops was angrier and angrier. Never showed up. Said they were busy with other shtein and to file for a report online.

When my rims were stolen off my brand new truck same thing...no shows. File over the phone because they're too busy. I was so pissed that someone jacked me I went to the station and told them to go ask for the camera tape from the building that looks down into my lot. The dope at the front desk couldn't have given me a bigger "r u srs bro?" look if he tried. Prick motherfarger.

phattymatty

Yeah, after a few bourbons and thinking back, I realize this is a total white person problem. But what the farg would I possibly get out of lying about a hit and run. Really just wanted them to get the dudes plate bc chances are he's gonna hot someone else or has a warrant.

hbionic

If you know a cop, you can hunt that guy down. Just get'em to run a make on his plates and voila...instant kidnapping/murder/dismemberment/free sex.

Remember when you only called 911 for an emergency? They beat that into our heads as kids. Now you call it for everything. I had to report a missing item from the outside of my house, so I called the local police station, who in turn told me to call 911. At least you got dudes plate number.
