Weekly threads definitely.

the eagles have awesome players, bro

OMG! Stupid
Dallas is going to win this game!
the giants suck
Coughin should be fired in the parking lot before he gets on the bus
that was a disgrace
Massive massive choke
That is downright embarrassing for the OC Manning and Coughlin
Coughlin should be fired after those play calls inside the 3. No hyperbole. And Eli is a farging moron for throwing the ball away and not taking the sack if you're going to be a Hoyda who kicks the FG anyway.
Racists suck - check
Gmen suck - check
If that were the Eagles, I'd be down a television right now.
remember this gifted win in december, surely going to come back to bite the eagles
i'm not even thrilled with the decision to kick the FG on 4th down, let alone the senior moment call on 3rd.
probably shouldn't give a pass to that bad squib kickoff either.
Third and goal at the 1.5 with 1:40 left Dallas has no timeouts & you're up 3.
The play is to run and try to score. If you don't you call a TO with :55 or so left and decide what you want to do. I probably go for it then to try to end it and if you don't get it you make Dallas start at the 1, but regardless at least that's a debatable option. What just happened...no words.

Gonna tune into the FAN in a few. That is going to be some priceless sports talk radio.
I had Dallas in survivor
peace
That was some special kind of stupid last night.
i dont get why people are killing coughlin more than eli...yes they should have run the ball but eli is a two time superbowl winner he has to know to just go down there....throwing it out of bounds was infinitely more stupid than calling a pass
I don't either, that was moronic on eli's part.
coughlin doesnt call the plays, right? obviously he can veto a decision, but thats also on mcadoo.
also great job by SPAGS defense laying down on the final drive.
i dont have a big problem with being overly aggressive and trying to end it by catching dallas off guard and throwing a td pass to finish them...but the second its not 100% there eli has to fall to the ground
Yeah Spags backing off the pressure...not that they were getting there anyways...was stupid. He went cover 2 and cover 3 and let Romo just walk it down the field.
And totally agree it is on Eli for not going down there and taking the sack. He should not have to be reminded. But McAdoo should not have called pass and Coughlin should have vetoed it.
Either way...impressive gag job all around

yup, i actually like the play call because you can win the game right there. if its executed properly it's either touchdown or its get down for a sack, run the clock down and have a 6 point lead.
yeah I see no issue with the play call. eli just needs to go down like favre did for strahan.

anyway, the giants told jennings not to score on his 1st and 2nd runs, which makes 0 sense because a TD ends the game even if it comes with 150 and 2 dallas timeouts left. idiots.
Giants are about as dumb as you are with your practice squad reasonings
if only the giants just gave the ball to mostert....
Then he would have not scored because their coaches are idiots...as is their QB
how do all these coaches and players who are morons and idiots and terrible at everything keep winning superbowls and a historically talented and competent organization like the eagles are 0-50
That one guy caught a football with his helmet. I'm pretty sure you're supposed to use your hands.
patriots aren't the only team that cheats
Wait so the Giants weren't stupid last night? Come on
If the Eagles coach or QB did that you'd lose your mind.
they were both dumb, but it was more on eli for not getting down than the play call itself
eli made a stupid play....that's it that's the end....and id be less mad if the eagles had won two superbowls in the last 8 years
That's a lie. You'd be incensed because the Super Bowls a couple plus years ago don't mean shtein in the moment or in the current season.
it absolutely does matter....don't get me wrong id be pissed.....but I wouldn't be calling the coaching staff and qb idiots if they were the same ones that brought me two superbowls
and my tolerance for bad losses would be so much higher if the birds had two recent super bowls....that's a fact
when i was in texas people came up to me everyday and talked about the 2008 world series....everyone remembers utley's homer in game 1 and the blowout in game 4. id wear a phils hat and theyd be like "you beat those rays!"

Joe Randle had 91 rushing yards in the first half
Finished with 87
But wait!
Murray and Mathews Suck!
do mathews and demarco murray combined have more rushing yards on the year than randle?...honest question im not sure
They need a mercy rule for this SF@Arizona game.
Not sure on that either
Tyler Lockett is a stud. Another kick return TD
When is it time to mock Shady?
And lol at the turf catching on fire in STL today
And then they use a shop vac to sweep up the extinguisher dust and the vac is just spewing it back out
Why does the Redzone insist on showing this SF/Cards game? It's been over since the 4th quarter of the Eagles game.
Because people love Arians and the Cards

Yeah no shtein
This happens a lot. They stack the early slate and leave junk for the late games
I mean you could have predicted that they would be unbalanced, but these are three full-on curbstompings.
I can't decide if the Bucs, Bears, or Saints are the worst team. I can't totally rule out the Eagles but it's probably not the Eagles. Bucs or Bears might be the conventional answers, but I'm thinking it's quietly the Saints.
I'm going with the Bears.

not that you follow sports, but pete had a solid nfl career before jumping to usc

how mad is cbs or nfln or whatever thursday games are on
vick against a winless ravens team
Ravens look like ass...but its an interdivisional game and the two teams hate each other so it will still bring ratings.
Plus if it sucks then it would be par for the course for lousy football on Thursday nights. That shtein needs to end.
by and large there are the same rate of injuries and the same margin of victories on thursday as the rest of games
the quality of play is different, though unquantifiable and debatable
either way, its there because its watched at the same rate, relative to matchup, as any other nfl window. the public has welcomed thursday night games. they are staying. im certain you watched and will continue to do so.
Of course I will watch...and so will you. Well maybe not since you're not a fan of sports.
im typically out on thursdays, but i do watch what i can. i dont mind the games. its about the same as monday night -- fun distraction, but i hate it when the eagles play (except for thanksgiving).
theres a sunday morning game next week, too.
I like the Sunday early early games...those are nice.
I'd get rid of Thursday except for the opening week game and Thanksgiving + balance the schedule for more even early/late distribution.
I also love the late season Saturday games.

thurs: 0-3 ravens vs vick
sunday: 0-3 new orleans vs weeden
mon: 0-3 lions vs seahawks
good stuff
the 1st 2 game are actually going to get really solid ratings....unless its a blowout. the mnf game might be a dud.
the eagles/cowboys game was the highest rated week 2 game in a long time, or maybe ever. that game was grotesque. the lesson: people are going to game gamble and draft kings no matter what.
I fell asleep and woke up with 3min left in the game.
Looks like I caught the best part of the game.
Scobee should just pack up tonight. If he kicks again for PIT I'll be shocked
mike tomlin and todd haley asking 400 year old mike vick to make plays
wow
The QB sweep was stupid
Give the ball to Bell
I couldn't believe they ran that play. If anything run a naked boot and have Bell there with Vick as a safety valve.
I took the ravens on my pick 'em so I was very happy with the steelers playcalling.
they had 4-5 key 3rd and 4ths and short and i dont think bell got the ball in 1 of them....instead it was in the hands of the corpse of mike vick. this is insane.
also josh scobee sucks, and pittsburgh can fall into a river, but come on.

I'm not really feeling this season.
I mean, I'm sure a decent part of that feeling has to do with the disappointing-at-best Eagles team. I'm sure another part of it is that I'm spread a little thing running around with stuff. But I really haven't enjoyed watching the games as much as usual.
I think it's a combination of things for me:
1) Chip doing seemingly ridiculous GM things in the offseason, that are now officially ridiculous.
2) Hangover from what I think has been outright NFL PR incompetence, particularly around the Tom Brady mess and other distractions that have made the league seem like a circus dumpster fire.
3) The CTE research, and the bullshtein rule changes that weaken the game and yet only offer the illusion of safety. I don't think it can be reasonably addressed and remain viable football as we know it.
4) Kicking-- what the farg is up with the kicking this year? I mean, it's awful.
5) Officiating-- the officials this year might be worse than the kickers. I mean, they're terrible. They throw a billion flags to slow down the pace of the games and yet can't get game-changing calls right.
6) Gameplay-- Maybe it's just a culmination of the above, but teams have looked really sloppy to me this year. Even the good teams don't look great.
It's disappointing, because I've always been into it. But this year I'm finding that I kind of don't give a shtein.
man, I thought I was alone in that thinking. you're right it's probably a combination of all things but man, usually when the eagles stink I tend to pay more attention to the rest of the league. this season, not so much.
the kicker thing makes no sense. it's like moving the xp back caused them to forget how to make fg's. ???

I agree with most of your list and yeah the birds blowing chunks has a lot to do with it. My biggest complaint is the NFL is turning into the nba with the over officiating. The defensive holding calls can 'literally' be called on every play so the refs have way too much influence on the outcome. I cant think of a worse job in sports than being an NFL db. The Ticky tack bullshtein calls are at an all time high.
I hate how much of a passing league it is now. The blowout games are absurd. Goodell is the worst thing to happen to the league. Way too much tinkering and unimportant changes that have made the product worse.

Was casual fan and corporate interest ever an issue before Goodell turned the NFL into the arena league? The only casual fan of NFL fans are women.
sure there were casual fans and corp interest before but goodell feels he doesn't have to worry about losing you or me. offense sells the game better as far as the owners feel and you know that's who is really making the decisions.
I'm sick of looking at the on-screen graphic after every big play waiting for the inevitable penalty to pop up. Seriously, the NFL action has been awful and not just because of the Eagles not playing well. I used to be able to watch from 1:00 PM. to midnight straight through and never get bored or disgusted. Now I can barely stomach watching just the Eagles. I just don't give a shtein anymore.

I leave games on mute while I do other stuff. Other than being at the game or somehow getting a feed with no graphics bullshtein on it, it might be the best way to watch. Also, not watching with people worried about their fantasy teams is great. I can't recommend that enough.

quality is a relative word. the players are better and more athletic than they were. but the game is much different. less violent -- but for a reason. the league finally took their head out of the sand in regards to brain damage.
on top of that, they are over-protecting the qb because good qbs drive ratings and good qbs need to be healthy to drive ratings. people want to see good qbs do good things. which means wide outs need to be open. which means they need to emphasize penalties on DBs to open up the game.
then you have the lack of preseason and training camp, one issue is coaching fear, then other is the union negotiating less work time. the bottom line? ratings are up. money is flowing in.
basically, its the internet and people whine and complain. they see other people whining and complaining about the same things they are whining and complaining about, and that further validates their thought (this applies for millions of subjects, not just football). i still watch a ton of football. i still like it. goodell is an icehole, though.

The cumulative affect is showing.

No we're just OLD, maaaannnnn!
I only really watched Eagles games. If I have little to no patience watching them, I'm not going to waste my time watching some team I don't care about.
I've stopped watching altogether now. Sportscenter is good enough for me. Saves me a lot of anguish.
I watched SC the other day for the first time in about a year. They're trying way too hard to be funny with corny monologue-style ramblings. Would that network please just go away?

sportscenter is really good at night when there's highlites and the svp sc is excellent
it's a trainwreck during the day when they struggle to fill time

yeah there is very little difference year to year the biggest problem is not the lack of hitting like most people bring up its the amount of penalties specifically as it protects the offense and that did not start last year
the penalties are 100% about keeping the talent on the field....it has nothing to do with fantasy
its all about making sure peyton manning and tom brady play because they have sunday night games in november
college doesnt have to worry about doing this because the players, by and large, are irrelevant.
I like SVPs show.
As for the NFL quality? It's all on Goodell and the competition committee. They want this so they've got it. The comp committee shocks me bc it's made up largely of the same people who bitch at refs during the weekend...coaches.
Get rid of the farging touch fouls in the secondary. It's ridiculous.
And the fact that any hit that even looks close to the head is flagged. Washington got farged on that twice
Quote from: PhillyPhreak54 on October 06, 2015, 07:36:36 PMAnd the fact that any hit that even looks close to the head is flagged. Washington got farged on that twice
this is a less of a concern....i can see why they do it because they want, and need, to take violent helmet to helmet hits out of the game. theyre judgement calls made at action going 100 mph. mistakes will happen.
its the qb getting touched and theres a flag...its the stupid defensive holding and illegal contact...the 50 yard DPI's
I understand taking the head shots out
But they should review them if they're gonna be ticky tack
Agreed on the touching the QB thing too
as Ive been saying for years it makes it really hard to watch and enjoy the game when you have to wait for five seconds after every play before getting excited
it used to be on long touchdowns you were begging "no flags no flags"....now its after every play
reviewing it means they have to also review calls they missed....the nfl wants to keep games at 3 hours because of timeslot commitments (college, again, doesnt have this concern, thus the absurd length of games). i dont see them ever doing this. the 1 thing i really want to see is 15 yard max for DPI.
games this year are actually up time wise, so id expect the league letting this go a little bit to bring that down
though if you remember last year the reffing was pretty good in the playoffs (save for the dallas flag pick up) and the games were very good, so when it boils down to it, they let them go when the games really count
Quote from: ice grillin you on October 06, 2015, 07:43:37 PM

This is exactly what I'm talking about. I literally look up and to the left at the graphic now. Up and to the left... just like Lee Harvey Oswald's kill shot, yo!
I get legit shocked when there's a punt or kick without a penalty. Automatic calls.
If he EAgles weren't in the league I wouldnt watch anymore, so I am definitely in the camp where the NFL sucks. Outside of Eagles games, I've probably watched a total of 2 quarters the rest of the league this year
I kind of feel compelled to say I don't give a great many fargs about opinions about my position. It's correct that it's been a slow erosion, but there's a point that erosion cumulates into something too evident to overlook. That point may be different for different people. For me, the that happened this season.

Watch on a tablet or laptop and not on tv?
many people have things like roku, smart tvs, apple tvs, ps4, gaming systems that have apps. these apps, or applications, can be used directly on the tv. the experience is extraordinarily similar to watching something on traditional tv. maybe have your grandson explain it to you while you shake your first at the clouds les bowen style for not being to watch a god awful worthless game in the precise format you want.
but yes this thing is basically a giant science experiment to see how exclusively streaming an event goes. i doubt the nfl ever exclusively streams anything of consequence, but their next tv deal will likely have a separate streaming part. the future is here you fossil.
I have a smart tv
Good point as I didn't even consider using it
You've provided me something useful. First time for everything I suppose
even watching it like that on an app isnt close to the same is it?...like you cant quickly and convienantly switch from the streaming event to a game on espn to another game on cbs then back to the streaming game can you like you would with a last channel button or simply punching in a new channel number on a real remote
chromecast - $35
so if you are watching something in google chrome you can hit 570 or whatever channel espn is on cable and it will flip right to it and then you could hit last channel and go back to google chrome?....or is there more steps and do you have to wait for the program on google chrome to reload and shtein
i always thought things like google chrome are for watching a movie on netflix all the way thru...its not something youd use if you were planning on flipping around and watching four different things at once
google chrome runs on a different input. so if your cable is input 1, chomecast would be like input 2. so to watch chromecast you would need to switch inputs
sounds horrible.
so i just go to yahoo.com to watch it ???

right.....so when you use it or anything that "streams" to your tv you are using it with the intent of watching something straight thru...tv show episode(s) a movie or in this case the buffalo jacksonville game.....which is not "extroidinarly similar" to watching cable as the lil guy said
Exactly - you can't flip channels
It sucks but I'll use my tv app so at least I'll have a big picture
farg a damn streaming game
yeah, sorry the technology that didn't exist 5 minutes ago isn't the best thing that ever happened
when did phreak turn into the bitter old guy?
i blame igy and mds for making him this way.
i could care less that something is new technology and am more than happy to move onto it....but only when its more user friendly than the old technology...a movie on netflix is better than a dvd cause you dont have to get off the couch....but dont tell me watching a streaming live sporting event is close to the same thing as watching cable tv like the lil guy always does....and thenwhen you tell him it isnt the same he throws out dinosaur
yeah, i'm right there with you...i flip around the channels during every commercial break...especially if it's a game i have little/no interest in...can't really do that effectively with streaming. :boo
Quote from: PhillyPhreak54 on October 22, 2015, 11:07:47 PM

That's really farging lame
the act is exactly the same...its a game on your tv with hd picture.
sure, you cant flip around to different channels at the same speed that you could with cable. my workaround on that is having 1 thing on the tv and another thing on my chromebook, and possibly, another thing on the cell. 3 screens bitches. like last saturday i had a&m/bama on tv and mich/msu on my computer. on sunday i games on tv and a redzone stream on the computer. it works! and im not giving comcrap $100 a month.
at some point down the line they will make the switching between apps better, but like johnny said, this technology is 5 minutes old.
Have to imagine that if/when the NFL offers up a 100% live stream of all their games, they will have found a few nerds smart enough to build in the option to "channel hop." Although I think that will probably be the easy part. The hard part will be having Internet that is fast enough to make the transition from one game to the next as instantaneous as it is when changing channels through traditional tv.
For someone like me, who can only get dsl via phone line, I could start the stream at kickoff, but probably wouldn't actually see any action until there's 10 min left in the first qtr. So for me to try and switch back and forth between games would result in me spending my Sunday afternoons watching a lot of buffering and very little football.
we're a ways away from any kind of streaming exclusivity of consequence
my uneducated guess is, if this thing and some subsequent experiments go well, by next decade they will look for a separate streaming option for games to along with what will air on regular tv. not sure if this will happen for just cable games, because broadcast tv is unaffected by cord cutting, but that's my guess.
so like the monday night game will air on espn or something, then also stream live and likely free on yahoo/google/etc.

shtein i get annoyed when my cable channels dont move fast enough to another game....another thing you need for streaming to make it even close to equal is dvr....i use it all the time for sports...after hitting last channel i use it to rewind the game i wasnt on to see what happened
I suppose it would be possible to have some sort of multi-window option built in. Think if it as if you had 2 different Internet tabs open with a YouTube video on each tab, and watched 2 min of one video, then hit pause and jumped to the next tab and did the same thing.
It's still almost entirely about available Internet speed/bandwidth. In order to really make it viable, data speeds would probably need to be increased like 100 x from whatever is currently the fastest speed available.
Definitely quite a ways from that. I can definitely see it being a thing in the next few years though for stand alone games....TNF/SNF/MNF.

If you can get to it from your TV, great. Otherwise, find a computer or something mobile
none of you guys can just hit the input button to jump between the stream and cable ?
you can, but the process takes longer than simply hitting last channel. i understand that being an attractive element for people.
im not sure if cable is going to go away anytime soon, i doubt it, but its going to be an outdated technology. the future is here. and it appears this crowd isnt ready for it.
Quote from: smeags on October 23, 2015, 11:05:18 AM

You can, but it doesn't function like channel hopping. Say your cable/satellite is hdmi 1 on your tv, and then say chromecast is hdmi 2. If watching chromecast and you decide to jump over to hdmi 1 for tv, chromecast does not maintain the position it was in when you left, so when you go back to hdmi 2, you have to wait for chromecast to start back up again.
Same goes for smart tv....at least for mine, but it's 3 years old so maybe the technology in this department has improved. But if I am in my smart hub and I leave to watch regular tv, when I go back into smart hub it doesn't pick up where I left off, I have to start over.

the networks dont care about game flipping....the nfl isnt going to factor into its decision making your ability to go to another program on another channel.
like i said i dont know exactly when cable becomes obsolete but its coming. it might be "around" for a while, but live sports, id guess, will move to streaming and broadcast.

if you thinking going back n forth btwn something streaming on one input to a tv station on another input is a small thing and is close to going from a cable channel to a cable channel then i dont know what to say....its the tv equivalent of going from the fastest wifi connection you can get back to dial up

We are supposed to get killed with rain this weekend and the heaviest looks like Sunday. I can watch the Eagles game on nbc website right? Just making sure bc I have DirecTV and as you know you can piss on the dish and it'll stop the feed.

As far as I know, no you can't.
QuoteJust making sure bc I have DirecTV and as you know you can piss on the dish and it'll stop the feed.
If light rain or wind messes with your signal, then you got a crappy install and your dish either isn't properly secured or it isn't pointed property to obtain the strongest signal....maybe even both.
My first DTV install in KC was crap. If it wasn't sunny, I was getting signal interruption. My 2nd install out there was fantastic and I didn't have any issues other than when the occasional tornado would blow by.
And when I lived in Norf Cackalacka, I had solid signal through a few different hurricanes. Granted, I was catching a small piece of the storm, but we had some 60+mph winds and exceptionally heavy rain and other than the occasional signal scramble, it was pretty flawless.
My current install is back to borderline suck. Any half decent storm will knock my shtein out, but it handles most of the bad weather.....enough that I haven't bothered calling them to send out another installer. But if you lose signal during minor storms, I'd have them send someone out.
I been toggling input during commercials between my console and the game for ten or fifteen years now. It's been unbearable hell. All the lost seconds, gone, gone. Forever.
luckily you have this place where you can open up about it.
so, is there a way i can record this game on my vcr?
Yes, but the input lag caused by having a vcr hooked up makes the whole thing unwatchable.
beta or VHS?
Oh, you didn't hear about hdvcr?
Mine is still plain old hi-fi.
nice, you can run that through your fisher stack stereo system.

lol at farging seven seconds to switch channels...is that a joke?....you clearly aren't a sports fan...also can you go back to roku and use dvr to watch the last drive of a game or the turnover that just happened....or does roku have to reload and connect to wifi again...how long does it take for you to go from roku to a game on cable back to roku to a game on cable back to roku to another game on cable
again when citizen kane is over on roku and you wanna switch back to cable to watch andy griffith on tv land its pretty neat....when its live sporting events and you are flipping thru numerous channels seven seconds might as well be 7 hrs
Have you considered that you might be super bad at technology, grandpa?
if my cable channels started taking more than a half second to switch channels much less seven seconds they would no longer have any technology cause I would nuke it all
igy is definitely terrible with technology. I had to send him a powerpoint once on how to hook up his NES and Sega at the same time. But I'm not completely retarded with this stuff and I know that with certain devices (like chromecast and apple tv) when I leave the hdmi input that either of those 2 are connected to, each of those devices are powered down. Could just be a default setting that's causing it, but I don't think it is.
im a complete moron when it comes to this stuff...but this isn't a technological debate....its a matter of whether you care or not...apparently i want to go from channel to channel a lot quicker than most people

if my distaste was for streaming movies and I wanted dvd's back instead of Netflix you might have a point
Yeah if my DTV took seven seconds to respond to commands I'd have called them and made them replace the equipment. It annoys me just thinking about it
i think youre both right but since this is the internet, nobody wins
right now its relatively easy to navigate between games within the same app. so if there are 3 games on espn, you can shift through those fairly seamlessly, but of course without dvr. if youre flipping from an espn game to a fox game, then back to another game on espn2, that's a more complicated process that will take more than the magic 7 seconds.
that's where the 2nd screen experience enters.

UGH CHIP ISN"T TALKING TO ME TODAY. DAMN THE WORLD. THE STREAM LAGGED A BIT. DAMN THE WORLD.
Actually the stream was shtein for many people - keep up with the times, son
And did the entire Texans team miss their flight?
My god it's 35-0 Miami
Saints D is beating the living piss out of Indy right now.

the reaction was a huge mixed bag...it really depended on your speed and quality. and it was always going to be like this. the first time going through something is never going to be perfect.
but lets act like the world is ending because we didnt have flawless, pristine access to a horrible meaningless game that, if not for this experiment, wouldve been buried at 100 sunday.
i hope the nfl moves all games to streaming. ALL GAMES.
colts bucs dolphins leading a combined 79-0
The stream looked good to me. Every ten minutes or so I had a 2 second pause, but it could have been on my end.
I have a sneaking suspicion that some of the people who had problems had their video quality set to "auto" rather than "high (HD)".
I actually hope that Yahoo did have some bandwidth problems because then they'll dump more money into it next time.
sure
its actually a smart idea to get on it now...work out all the kinks....figure out what they need to do to handle a huge audience....because the next decade having a live stream for all events is going to be mandatory
Outside of a few games I've watched at sports bars, I've paid to stream every game this year illegally, in HD, with few problems. With a click I can go to any other game. The tech isn't the problem, it's the league worrying about farging with their outmoded income model. Probably not easy enough for grandpas to use yet, but if the league wanted to be, it could be.
thats why i said they have to be offer both
nobody on here is THAT OLD, but most act that way. i talk to 40 and 50 year olds everyday that can barely turn on a computer. the nfl cant just go in that direction. not for numerous decades, and not with the terrific numbers they draw on nbc/fox/cbs, networks that dont have to deal with cord cutters.
Dolphins are eating the Texans young -- 42-0
Wow
If Joe Philbin was still coaching, the Dolphins would be losing.
I need Hoyer and Nuk to hook up on a couple garbage TDs to help my FD lineups
Pagano gonna finish the year out?
Luck picked again!
Wtf is wrong with Andrew Luck?

finally a game I care about......leggo big blue
did buck really just say that brandon weeden is the unluckiest guy in the nfl?
love how dallas can go to collins and the eagles get to go to tobin
the rest of the division better hope dallas loses every single game until romo comes back because they are so much better than everyone else its not even funny
they get the eagles in 2 weeks
the eagles already lost on the road to kirk cousins...and at home to half of brandon weeden
yeah the birds are going to get raped in dallas
BUDDY!
if this can hold, dallas will lose next week to seattle. that already puts them on 5.
which means YOUR eagles can deliver the knockout greg hardy punch with a win
like I said they aren't winning in dallas but a loss today and against seattle would keep the birds in the mix
where is the seattle game?
j country
Awful call lololol good job
does obj ever not complain after a play....he even bitches a lot when he makes the catch
Yeah you're right - every single play he's got something to say

edit: the prime time reminder's coming up.
the streaming worked okay through my ps4...not hd quality though. but it wouldn't work on my tablet...most likely my crappy router.

Crazy stat
QuoteThe Minnesota Vikings have committed the fewest penalties so far this year, with 35. However, Vikings CB Xavier Rhodes is 2nd in penalties committed by a single player with 9 and DE Everson Griffen is t-5th with 7.
Do the Pats ever make a mistake or not have something lucky bounce always come up aces for them?
Sometimes they get caught, does that count?
Earlier in the TB-ATL game Matty Luke Warm threw a pick in the endzone to a LB Kwon Alexander but it wasn't legit because of an offsides penalty. But the play continued and Alexander ran about 80yds and was hunted down by Julio.

its a result of the nfl's parody and limiting divisions to 4 teams...youre going to see more of this
when there are 5 good teams and 5 bad teams and 20ish teams that are all the same, youre going to get this

How are they gonna call an illegal hit on Heath? That was clean lick!

Christ - just put flags on these guys and be done with it, already.
yeah the penalty/officiating is definitely the important thing here.....jesus what the hell is wrong with nfl fans
the nfl in general should probably go away....but aikman is right about special teams....it def should be done with....just start at the 20 and on punts just let the ball go and where it stops the other team starts
Put the fire water down for the love of God.
thats like 90% of chip's roster!
Get rid of special teams and it's possible guys like Westbrook or Sproles never get the chance to do what they have ended up doing in this league.

ole miss losing literally ended their season....in terms of importance it was more important than every nfl game this season put together
nobody cares about ole miss....they were never going to the playoff...oh biig deal they win out they go to the sec title then to the kleenex mcdonalds bowl. nobody will remember it.

two loss sec champion could def make the playoff this year....but either way that game was better nd more important than anything the nfl has thrown out this year
parity in the nfl has made most every game meaningless

Last one was a pass to Kellen Davis in the end zone and he has no idea the ball as coming to him
I would give the ball to Shady 30 times a game either thru the run or the pass. When he gets into open space, he's nearly unstoppable. I'm not sure why his retarded farging head coaches and OC's refuse to hook the stage coach up to him, but it's maddening to me. God, he's great.

Although the only planning he really needed for this one was to pop in some 2015 Broncos game tape and see what we've been watching all year. "Oh, Peyton can't throw anymore. The AFC South is three franchises that still feel like expansion teams no one takes seriously (even though the Oilers are an original AFL team), and a Colts team that is one very good QB away from being one of the worst teams in football (and that QB is now injured). If I'm the NFL, I'm thinking realignment when the LA teams come in (not just swapping Chargers and Cardinals), just to have an excuse to break up that division. It's been a dud since it was founded.
What are they gonna do, put the Rams in there?

it actually works out for the best...yea 1 horrible team goes to the playoffs but grouping the useless teams together does benefit the league
yeah I was gonna say what you end up doing is still having the zesty afcs plus ruin another division
keep them quarantined
Or do the unthinkable and contract like 8 consistently super zesty teams so all the 800 prime time games are potentially watchable.
NFC East, NFC North, AFC North: unchanged
NFC South: New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, St. Louis Rams
NFC West: Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Chargers, Arizona Cardinals
AFC East: New England Patriots, New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, Indianapolis Colts
AFC South: Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers, Tennessee Oilers (let's rename to get some legitimacy back), Tampa Bay Bucs
AFC West: Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Raiders, Houston Texans
Come on, it wouldn't be so horrible. I don't know how many more of these Jacksonville-Tennessee games I can take.

How does Case Keenum get up and go back in the game after having an obvious concussion. I thought they had spotters identifying players who might have concussions.
They botched that big time
The spotter missed it and the refs were preoccupied with the penalty that was called on the play
He fumbled the game away shortly thereafter
i guess the rams missed their own qb staggering all over the field too

No way Fisher or one of the other coaches didn't know their QB was concussed. Maybe Harrison was right about Fisher.
Obviously Keenum should have self reported to the medical staff. The blame pretty much starts and ends with him.

He deserves blame, but not all of it. I had a concussion, didn't know I had one. I was dizzy and not really with it, but at no point did I think I had a concussion. One of the officers on the ship made me go to medical since my head was bleeding. They did these tests which I thought I did fine on, but they said I 100% had a concussion.
Guess you guys missed the part where Chip blamed Jenkins for not self reporting his concussion a couple weeks ago. Media asked him why the coaches and medical staff didn't notice anything wrong with him and Chip threw all the blame at Jenkins.

Has there ever been a least accountable coach than Chip? I'm failing to remember one.
thats a big part of the reason the locker room is starting to fall apart...sometimes its ok to not be a players coach and an all around dickhead when you are winning....but once you start losing it usually falls apart at the seams
Jim Mora Jr was less of a bitch about accountability than Chip.
I think it's funny that after getting his bell rung, Keenum's throw on the next play was to Wes Welker.
Do concussions open up some sort of telepathy link between people?
pretty random but did any of you see james jones from gb yesterday...wearing a hoodie under his uniform ??? just found it odd he'd have a hood hanging out like that. i was waiting for a db to tackle him by the hood.

they just showed ziggy ansah who leads the nfc in sacks gurding the sideline 15 yards down the field on a play that had no time left
The first half was bad because GB was so awful. Detroit had some good drives and Calvin had a great TD catch
And yeah Ansah was on the sideline boundary for some crazy reason. Stupid alignment. And no Calvin in there to knock it down

Is there any logical reason that you were actually be rooting for Dallas in this game? I'd get it if the Eagles and racists were sitting on like 10 wins and were legitimately good teams, but this team has like no chance to get out of the WC round, let alone win a SB. It's one thing if you're still rooting for the Eagles each week. It's pointless, but I get it. Even in a lost season like this when I want them to lose because I know it's better for them in the long run, it' still hurts to actually watch them lose. But rooting for all these other pieces to fall into place so that the Eagles can win the division with 7 wins? That's cray-cray. What's even crazier is that something like this happens to them when they are terrible, but when they're good and could use a little aligning of the stars, that shtein ain't happening. Like, if it's week 17 and they needed a win plus 2 other teams in the division to lose, none of those 3 things would happen let alone all 3 of them. But because they're the Eagles and because Philly sports teams can't have nice things, the Eagles beat the Pats in Foxboro (that alone is worth like a dozen individual miracles), and the Giants lose to the Jets in a game they had wrapped up, and the racists lose to a Cowboys team being quarterbacked by Matt Cassell. And they needed a Pimp fumble to help do it. When has that many things ever gone "right" for the Eagles in a span of roughly 30 hours? Hell, when has that many things gone right for them in a span of 30 years?
Yesterday on his radio show, I thought Bomani Jones perfectly summed up the Eagles and racists fan bases. He said (paraphrasing) that if the Eagles won the division at 7-9 or 8-8, Eagles fans would be pretty meh about it and would take the criticism that would come from the nat'l media of a 7-9 team winning a division with a grain of salt, but if the racists win it at 7-9 or 8-8 they'd get all butt hurt when the media would start piling on about the racists winning a shtein division at 7-9.
Bomani is spot on, but he obviously never met South Jerz Eagles fans or Jay.

im trying to think of a reason you wouldnt have been rooting hard for dallas...throw out the fact that wash is the most replusive organization in professional sports the eagles needed a wash loss
im shocked you would feel this way since you are going to the washington game...why would you not want that game to say be for the division?
except j we all know the eagles are going nowhere this year...at the same time why not try and extend the season as much as possible and have as many meaningful games as possible...im a little biased in this thinking since i have season tickets and dont want to do a 3 hour round trip to a game that means nothing but still its not like there is a franchise qb at the top of the draft that they could get or chip was hanging by a thread and losing out would get him got....those to me would be the only reasons to not root for good things to happen to the eagles and dallas winning last night was one of those good things
I think you and I are using different definitions of meaningful games.
a game you are playing while tied for the division lead
Ah yes...I forgot we don't want the Eagles to make the playoffs.
All that would do is put more money in lurie's pocket as the eagles lose another home playoff game.
for me the way to think about it is to think how i will feel after the eagles lost in the wild card round...will i be pissed that they made the playoffs this year...and this year i would not...plus the nfl playoffs are different than any other sport...you dont need to win four seven game series...as unlikely as it is that the eagles would do such a thing you just gotta get hot and/or lucky to make a run...something any playoff team can do in this sport
basically CKGM might be worse than matt millen and this franchise is going to get a lot worse before it gets better if he doesnt change so why not make the playoffs this year which would give the next four games meaning
then once the season is over deal with the darkness that looks to be inevitable down the road which is going to happen regardless of what they do this season
Any "success" that this team has from this point gives Chip some solid ground to stand on. Lurie is loyal as hell, probably to a fault, but if chip gives him some home playoff revenue, even if it's only 1 game and they get blown out, Lurie is still going to wipe the slate clean with Kelly. I know that they could lose out and there's still like a 99% chance that Kelly comes back for 2016, but I'm already done with him. There are so many things about him that I flat out can't stand and I do not want to see him on the Eagles sidelines any longer than I absolutely have to.
Reid had some faults, but I never hated the guy. I got sick of him and I realized after like 10 years that he hit his peak with the Eagles and it was time to move on. But I respect the hell out of the guy and think he's a fine coach. I have 0 respect for Kelly. I'm so sick of hearing him toss blame at everyone but himself. I'm sick of his philosophies. I'm sick of his roster moves. I'm sick of his culture and his smoothies and his love of players who can't play. I want him gone and winning a lousy division doesn't do anything but guarantee at least a 2017 season for him....probably longer. The division will get better next year and the year after. I have absolutely no faith at all in this guy's ability to keep up.
nfl teams make very little in the big scheme of things for home playoff games
chip giving demarco murray 20 million guaranteed hurts the eagles financially more than a home playoff loss would help
short of a playoff run...and who wouldnt want that...i see nothing the eagles could do this year that would negatively or positively effect what happens to chip after next season...at this point if you want chip gone as soon as possible the best thing you can hope for is a 3-13 type debacle next season...that happens and no one remembers or cares that he made the playoffs this year...just like right now no one cares that he lost to new orleans two years ago...and actually the fact that he has yet to win a playoff game is brought up far more
Oh no Teddy
Damn
thats more on zimmer and norv....they had to run on 2nd down and spike on 3rd. kick the fg.
teddy of course needs to have pocket awareness but that was putrid playcalling
Norv being Norv
No way you have a drop back there. You run it and then spike it.
But if you must throw it you best double or chip Freeney. Or throw a quick three step pass
they put themselves in a spot on 3rd down where they could do nothing...couldnt go over the middle...sidelines were going to be locked up. had to either roll out and waste time or just kick it. nothing was getting accomplished with that play.
just a mindless, incompetent string of play calling
like i said, they had to get what they could on 2nd down, spike it and kick it. the problem with this is the vikings will fall to the 6 and guarantee the 7-9 eagles will face the seahawks in the wild card round
its in the eagles best interest for dallas to win here
Why?
avoiding the seahawks
it basically cant happen now
well it can if arizona loses out...but then you get them...i wanted minny in the wc round
They can get Minny or GB still but yeah it takes Seattle losing
They could drop the last week to Arizona.
seattle isnt losing
j has the birds beating seattle or whoever they play so it doesn't matter
Dallas losing is always preferable. There are times when a Dallas win helps the Eagles but I'd never celebrate their success. Why? Because farg Dallas, that's why.

Assuming scores hold:
If Washington wins next week, they clinch.
If the Eagles win today, next week's game is for the division.
If Eagles lose today and win next week:
- Eagles clinch with a win over the Giants
- Washington clinches with a win over the Cowboys and an Eagles loss
- If both the Eagles and Washington lose in Week 17, then next week's Giants@Vikings game matters:
- Giants clinch with a win over the Vikings
- Eagles clinch with a Vikings win over the Giants

The Arians thing surprises me not only because of his mediocrity at Temple but also because he was regularly trashed and blamed for everything wrong with the Steelers the whole time I was in Pittsburgh. And as near as I could tell, the media's assessment of him was accurate.

Also, since I'm living out in Seahawk land now, it's strange as farg that the one game involving a west coast team gets the one 10am start. And if they win, they get the only 10am start next week too.
Some people are claiming it disadvantages the team. Sounds like bullshtein to me, but the early start time is lame for the fans and for the sports bars.
It starts at 1000 because that's 1 pm on the East coast. They're at Minny, so it'll be a 1200 kickoff locally. This is no different than the reg season.

Portland. Seahawk land is very large. Not a lot of teams out here. I'll probably go to a bar and see how well the 12th man represents for a 10am playoff game. I'm predicting a scene deader than the average east coast NFL Sunday afternoon, but maybe they'll surprise me.
Yeah, you're getting mostly fairweather types in Portland....probably unaware that left coast teams sometimes play earlier in the day when they travel east.

Par for the course, the Ravens won in like their 5th year. A city that didn't even have a team for over a decade in the SB era has three SB wins.
On the other hand, the Cards have been around 13 years longer than the Eagles and haven't won it either. So would you rather the expansion team win it, or one of the few old school teams that have been even more futile than the Eagles?
Cards are the lesser of 2 evils I guess. The team is og, they just play in a zesty sports town with a zesty fan base. What would sting most about them winning it is that they were so poorly run for so long. It wasn't long ago that they were an annual laughing stock.
Looks like I'll be rooting for whoever comes out of the AFC.
cards age is rendered meaningless because they have moved multiple times....they basically feel like an expansion team to me even tho they are ancient
Also, Big Ben opening up the game chucking it 50 yd down field was impressive. Dude has torn ligaments and shtein in his shoulder and he can still toss it that far?
I get why they did it....to show Denver that he can sling it, but I think they'd have been better off starting with a bunch or short/intermediate stuff. Maybe even have Ben do some acting and grab at his shoulder constantly. Then let it fly when the defense starts creeping up.

Had a lot of friends' teams in the playoffs this weekend. They were all saying how stressful it is and how difficult it is to function like a human being on the weekend when your team is in the playoffs. It all sounded familiar. Thank god we don't have to worry about that for the next 10+ years.
So the last time the AFC's Super Bowl QB wasn't Brady, Manning, Ben, or Flacco was the Gruden Bowl, right? And it was only Flacco that once.
