lol Jrue says on behalf of himself and the Sixers when talking to NO crowd
its crazy
mcw was terrible in summer league and preseason and then comes out amazing in his league opener
he even has a trio of threes
WOW
not sure what it says that i'm by far most optimistic about the sixers of all the franchises.
8 steals....an NBA record for a debut

i accidentally started reading page one of the offseason thread instead of the end and you called hinkie a terrible hire.
i didnt know about hinkie magic then
actually he hasnt done anything yet but tank which any of us could have done....lets see if he can build a team before we annoint...also he has to move all or some of et hawes thad to continue tank mode...if he keeps those three together and it costs them the number one pick the he should be fired immediately
When was the last time WFC was this loud? When Rose blew his knee out?
ET...brick city from the corner...and on the lay ups...way to go, Evan.

No disagreement igy. It's hard to prove best with just stats but this debut is insane. This game is amazing.
agreed. i'm cool with 1-81 instead.

his most impressive number was probably 4-6 from three....dook cant shoot a lick
one of the worst wins ever
your move, hinkie. cant let this shtein go on.
they should have lost but i def got a boner. several times.
In addition to setting the debut steals record...
QuoteMichael Carter-Williams had 12 assists tonight, the 2nd-most by any player in their career debut in NBA history.

Terrible loss, but this is definitely more on the Heat sleeping on the Sixers than it is the Sixers actually being good. Heat opened the season with a back-to-back (kind of farged up, btw) and were high coming off a win against Da Bulls. It was a bit of a let down game. Whatever though.....home opener vs the champs, new coach, rookie PG, I'm ok with them winning this one in front of the home crowd. But that's all they get.
The 2nd and 3rd quarters are hopefully more of what we'll see from this team this year. They were outscored 80-52. That's what I'm talking about. Slow start and sluggish finish from the Heat. It's early and the Heat aren't really old, but that's kind of typical for the way a team might play the 2nd game of a back-to-back.

Going to see the 2014 NBA Champion 76ers up close and in person tonight. I feel another win coming. Unfortunately.
i have no idea how mcw is going to slow down wall tonight
the speed differential is off the charts
wall should completely go off
to make it worse mcw has no back to the basket game
not his fault he just never had to do it in college
its one of the things hes gonna have to learn in the next few years....to take smaller guards down low
as expected wall is out of his mind
13 pts in 5 minutes
welcome to the nba mcw
This dreadful effort is giving me hope
here they come
wow sixers lead....WILL NOT go away
first lead of game lol
11-4 run....MCW with the three and they lead
i dont even know if i can get mad.....this is classic philadelphia sports.....if they dont move ET immediately then fire them all
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEKK3GVd150
i know you are a king homer but how are you not sickened by this?
I want them to tank...trust me. I know getting a legit top pick is the best thing for them.
I am shocked they're playing well with a buncha nobodies.
This will not last
MCW was getting a lot of national love after the MIA game...he was on the Dan Patrick show, trending nationwide on Twitter and a lot of the dopey Houston people were talking about him.
in a way tonight was almost more impressive than the opener for him...for a rookie to be terrible for three quarters on both ends of the court and then hold it together to play huge in the 4th was really nice
So how good is Brett Brown? Despite being a scummy New Englander his time learning from Pop has me pretty excited about him along with Hinkie.

boston lost again tonight
im convinced wiggins is going there and hes going to be like the legend for them
Quality loss by 20 in front of the home crowd. I wasn't sweating the 3-0 start. This team has started off well a few times in recent years only to come crashing back to reality. Hopefully this loss is the 1st of 70 more.
the only game i want them to win the rest of the year is iverson night on march 1

It's still early. They've played 7 of 9 at home. The Bobcats started 5-4 last year and ended up 21-61. (They got to 7-5 before losing 18 straight and 56 of their next 67.)

im a wiggins or bust guy but them getting the three pick is a best case scenario and something id be more than happy with
i used to defend iguodala to the death against pretty much every sixer fan when it came to the clutch...not so much saying he was money but that people were idiots and the criticism of him was over the top

right now parker is below all of them for me
wiggins is a clear #1
dante exum is a clear #2 and rising
then randle
then parker/aaron gordon....i need to see more of gordon
parker is going to be the real deal. i don't know shtein about exum.

hinkie magic tank mode?
why randle above parker from a potential perspective? I think both of them have fairly high floors and lower ceilings than Wiggins but parker seems athletic enough to me and in that case I'd rather have a 6'8 inside/out player with a jumpshot than a zach randolph type (not making a direct comparison but a somewhat similar skillset).
randle above parker because he a much better player and jabari inst made for the nba game like the rest of them

Quote from: MDS on November 17, 2013, 03:10:42 AM
at this point its gonna be tough to catch utah but the 2 can be done...just gotta keep losing
really all you gotta do is finish in the top 3 and theres a legit chance....utah has been a problem since jump but dont sleep on milwaukee...with larry sanders out they are the worst team in the nba....also pheonix like the sixers is coming back to earth after a suprising start and will be a player for first overall imo...they are really bad and also get to play in the much tougher western conference....detroit is 4-7 and would be the 8 seed in the east right now....the 8 seed in the west is memphis
celtics are also a big issue cause they are going to be smart enough to move brandon bass and/or rondo from an already awful team
you saw how bad the sixers rotation was last night without just one of their 'big 3'...now imagine no thad or et....thats a dream but just moving one of them would make a huge difference
one good thing is that there are 10 teams with less wins than the sixers but five of them are easily better teams and will no doubt end up with more wins
ive watched them like 2.5 times this year and a game or two of that was without larry sanders and knew they were bad but milwaukee tonight is straight tank money.....jesus they know what to do...meanwhile the stupid farging pos franchise that is the sixers are playing like its the nba finals
im sure hes not seeing it but matty would be very happy tonight.....hollis thompson going OFF
i on the other hand wanna go newtown on someone
10-2 bucks run got it to six
lol how do you not take a foul there...there go the sixers we need
if mcw has a big half he is well within range of another trip dub
all tied up......LEGGO bucks
mcw with 10-7-6-5....really impressive
brandon davies - daniel orton - hollis thompson and elliott williams all have logged double digit minutes tonight........they CANT win can they?
its so crazy how much this feels like a conference championship game or some shtein cept im rooting for the bucks....this game really does mean so much
thank god caron butler is on the bucks.....hes the only real veteran on either team....and the only player trying to win
mcw with two and a half left
11-8-10-5
watching the sixers this year is worse than watching any good team because every farging possession in all 82 games of the regular season matters

jesus christ hes not good....i was trying to tell everyone at tailgate last week that either is evan turner...yes people actually think hes good as well?!!?!?!
they both farging suck....its just that someone has to get numbers on a putrid team
this has been happening since the beginning of time in the nba
i don't care about hawes and whether he's good or not, it's just what they can get for him. it's not his ppg, it's the fact that his fg % is up and he's farging shooting 49% from 3. obviously it's probably because of a small sample size but maybe someone will think he's improved looking at that.
turner is the guy you can possibly get something for....ive been pimping this since the summer but et to the thunder so that they can get that 3rd scoring option they lost with first harden and then kmart is a no brainer....and they have dallas' #1 to move in such a deal
spencer hawes is not playing tonight due to a sore knee....against a team they were going to lose to anyway....how about sitting out last night ahole
i dont wanna get ahead of myself but mcw might be a player
these dopes just put up 52 pts in a half on the road against the best defensive team in the nba
They're gonna knock the. Pacers off tonight...watch
MCW is gonna be really good. Nerlens and a strong draft next year? And the gawd Brett B?

unfrigginbelievable
back to back threes by mcw and hollis thompson to give the sixers a two pt lead

BTW I sent the Iverson money straight cash homey...I don't have any more checks
lol...gotcha....ill let you know when i get it
im not saying they are all gonna be players and a lot of it is being on a bad team where someone has to play but every single player hinkie magic has added contributes...like none of them are complete bums....farging hollis thompson is the perfect example
also credit to brett brown
sixers advertising an "iverson four pack".....the march 1 game plus three others
you know you are slumming when you have to try and use a retired player to sell tickets
Yeah they're milking it big time.
Next gimmick should be a Molly Sullivan bobble tits doll
are you coming up or leaving the weekend of the game.....assuming you are doing a week home
chalk up an L to a nuggets team on the road and 4th game in 5 nights....brett brown really went into tank mode tonight....its hard to even explain how funny his rotations were
Not sure yet.
I'm tossing around a couple options
Coming up for a week and flying in Friday night. Staying at a hotel in the city for the weekend so I can go out and party and then going to see my family Sunday morning and fly back to Houston the following weekend.
Flying in Friday night and staying at the holiday inn stadium and leaving Sunday am for Vegas
oh cool....we are all gonna get busy in the city after the game....probably south phil somewhere....also pretty sure we are gonna tailgate at nicks too
Yeah that's what I figured and why I wanna stay in the city so I can drink myself stupid
o/u for non-white people at this hangout: 1
way over...unless texas j counts for multiple whites
read again
way over.....did i not spell it correctly the first time?
i was asking how many NON white people will be there
last time i checked J is a honkey
there are minimum five non whites right now
but yes i mis spoke....i was thinking whites vs non whites (as opposed to an o/u) and was saying whites would dominate if j counted for like 10 honkeys
J counts for at least 3 white people
how does that sway the numbers
Are youse drunk?
lil guy doesnt drink
get the farg outta here...seriously?
not really, no.
im sorry J. 2? 2 white people?
nope....he came to a tailgate once and was drinking NA beer
lol YOU GAVE THAT TO ME.
i was just drinking out of a cup. didnt know until later.
Todd O'Doul's!
Why don't you bring your ass up there too....01 March...ain't no HS f-ball going on then. I'll buy you a virgin jack & coke!
hopefully im in philly by then
i want OUT of tejas
You applying for paper jobs up there?

rumors building again about hinkie magic favorite omar asik....perhaps for thad and a 1st
Not sure I get the point in trading Thad+ for Asik.
CBS is saying if Asik goes to Philly it would be Asik and a first for Thad probably, not the reverse.
wire to wire loss
bobcats about to put away the warriors in what will be a huge win

why is the game at 8 tonight?
it was moved before the snow...the flyers didnt play....the blazers arent on a back to back...
i got no farging clue
yeah earlier in the week the first thing I did was look for a flyers game....none
maybe its to get as close to west coast time as possible to make the blazers feel as comfortable as possible

Can't wait to see how this team looks next year and the year after.
i hope the nerd on the bench who gave a golf clap isnt on it
biggest game of the season thus far and they didnt show up. perfect.
anyway i was at lee's on friday night and caught the tail end of the game. the dudes behind the counter were cheering when they won. i was like "you do realize they need to lose, right? dont you want andrew wiggins?" the one dude thought i was nuts. the other was like "we need a power forward."
i thought philly was IN on the tanking
p.s. i love lee's tuna hoagies
embiid is slowly creepin....i think he ends up being the number one pick
No way...he's good and all but I doubt he takes the overall spot from the top three guys.
Anthony Bennett disaster is going to make whoever gets the #1 go the safe route
the sixers defense is worse than the cowboys
wow plumdog
excellent loss....especially considering pheonix played on the road last night and sixers had the week off
the next 3 are looking almost too winnable
sixers should be tipping a little before eagles halftime

et should have been traded weeks ago....at this juncture its going to be borderline impossible to catch romelando. the bucks are already locked into the 1.
gotta hope for some hinkie magic and thats all there is to it.
just so everyone knows...while the one would be fantastic....a top five pick along with another lottery johnson (pels choked last night and lost again) would still be incredible provided they dont take jabari parker with their first pick and i have to believe hinkie magic knows better than that
I want the #1 and #6 playing with Noel and MCW. shtein like that never happens to Philly. I want it just this one time.
6-10 or maybe 11 are all about the same.....obviously youd rather have six to be able to target exactly who you want
if they dont at least get a top 5 pick then its a total failure no matter where the second pick falls
if they get a top 5 and a top 10 pick be estatic
if they get a top 5 pick and a 12-20 pick be optimistic but not joyful
if they get a top three pick and a top ten pick throw a parade
if they get 6-10 and 12-20 head for the ben franklin

QuoteThe midseason award for "best rookie" goes to Carter-Williams. From his opening day performance to today, MCW has been the best rookie by a significant margin despite missing games due to injury. He resembles Damian Lillard in that he's a very good rookie who looks like a cornerstone piece moving forward. With this loaded draft coming in June, the Sixers' front office can look for a great player who complements what MCW brings to the table, rather than seek just the best pure player. The best part about MCW, something that will factor heavily on draft day, is that he can help make other players better. He also can get a lot better himself. Carter-Williams is just touching the depth of his talent -- an enormous pool of potential that will take years to fully form. Exciting times for Sixers fans are on the way.
MCW > Jrue
Hate to say it because I was a big Jrue fan, but I might agree with that. I think MCW has a much higher ceiling where Jrue is about as good as he'll ever be.
And am I the only one who keeps forgetting that Nerlins be lurking and will be a part of this team next year?
nerlens was cleared for basketball activity last week so no
Prior to last week dumb dumb. I kept forgetting he even existed for approximately 3 months.
not me....hes one of four lottery picks this team should have in the lineup next year (pray)
also theres been a bunch of print and tv pieces on his rehab
nerlens was pretty much clear cut #1 before the season started last year so no i have not forgotten about him. i almost forgive him for picking kentucky over gtown.
is he def. not stepping foot on court this year or they might give him some pay later in the year?
they havent said....but i think its only because they dont wanna look like they are tanking....i cant imagine him playing this year
Brown said in an interview a few weeks ago he wants him to get into playing shape then they'll assess him from there.

Brown said in an interview a few weeks ago he wants him to get into playing shape then they'll assess him from there.
pretty much this is what they have been doing the whole time and is the right way to go...publicly state that well see what happens...wed like to get a look see at him....but privately knowing there isnt a chance hes playing on a lottery missle of a team
the only way i would have been in favor of Noel touching the floor this year is if they were in the bucks situation and had like a 5 game lead on the worst record with a few weeks left to play. then suit him up if he's 100%. as is, there's no reason to do it.
i dont think he has any value in terms of helping the team win games....he has a lot of question marks in his game even when he becomes healthy...but a rookie like him coming off a knee injury isnt going to hurt you in the draft positioning....i just think it looks bad to the league if the sixers were to come out and say we are not playing him even tho hes healthy
imo i dont think theres a chance in hell he plays because of the public relations aspect.....can you imagine if they brought him back and he re hurt the knee in some meaningless april game
this is a big game for thad youngs trade value....if he can have even a decent game against serge ibaka that would send messages to the rest of the league
You really think they trade Hawes/Young/Turner? I don't for whatever reason. We all know they should but I just don't see it. What are they really going to get? Future 1sts. Hinkie is probably thinking he can add the two players they get at the draft, Nerlens, and build a team from there.
they are 100% trading one of them and most likely two......i think hinkie magic is looking for a one this year from a contender which he should be able to get
here come your 76ers

the bucks won last night and it honestly doesnt even matter
Let's be honest here, we all know what's going to happen. They'll be bottom 3 with 2 weeks left, then they'll go on a run and fall to 7th. It's a lock.
good first half
you know who isnt going to win a game the rest of the year....the cavs...they were down 20 after the 1q against the lakers...and whoa nelly look at those magic run....up 14 at half v. the pistons
jeffy green lightin it up!
tony wroten from 60 feet to end the third....this game will not end well for the sixers

Rondo to Sullinger under the hoop and the foul...3 pt play. Huge.
oh how i love you you turnover machine mcw
That Hollis Thompson 3 was awful

what a night

need to pellies to lose for a perfect night...a knick win would be a nice bonus
if not for the turner buzzer beater last week the sixers would have the 2 right now
three is the best they can do....even if they fall behind the magic they arent finishing behind cleveland who is as a bad a team right now as youll ever see in any season...the lakers dressed 8 last night and smacked the shtein out of them
the kings went wire to wire last night to make three teams in one night that moved two games ahead of the sixers
How bad is Mike Brown? That guy is Eddie Jordan awful.
the calamity of it is that the cavs hired mike brown....got to see what he was all about....fired mike brown....then gave mike brown 20 million to coach them again
havas cant believe his team is going to win....OR LOSE
i believe in the suckitude of this sixers team. the 2 awaits.

Spurs trading Leonard for Young seems like pure fantasy.
Leonard for Young...... lol deal. The Sixers are a good example for the Phillies. If only the Phillies were more like the Sixers.
Yes, and blow them both up.
you guys are way overrating kwahi leonard....im not sure he hasnt already hit his ceiling (so has thad of course but hes four years older)...i like his versatility and he would be a massive upgrade on the defensive side of the ball but young for him would not be anything close to a lol or fantasy deal
really you could make the argument that the sixers would be better off with danny green as bb's offense is based on shooters and the sixers right now dont have a single player who can shoot at an nba starting level
that said im not hating on kwahi and wouldn't be mad or anything at that trade but id rather have green and their first i think
i'd take either one in a second because thad is a big fat loser.

I think leonard is hampered in the spurs system. Part of this is probably overrating him due to his performance in the playoffs last year but I think his numbers go up significantly in a different offense or when he's getting more than 28 MPG.
i mean anyones numbers can go up by getting more minutes and/or more touches....but that doesnt necessarily make you a better player....look at evan turner the last couple years...hell or even james harden...he takes away as much as he gives....
i just dont see kwahi leonard as anything close to a lead scorer type....hes a really nice versatile player whose best attribute is his defense and id take him in a heartbeat....but hes not outrageously better than thad young
what was most impressive last year in the finals was his defense on lebron....for much of the series he played him better than anyone ive ever seen....i would love that kind of defender on this team
Yeah his D is his strong point. Maybe like a George Lynch type guy with a better offensive game

Agreed with everything here, except preferring Green and a first. I don't prefer Leonard over Green and a first deal, I'd be psyched on either one. Leonard is still like 22, which is farging awesome. I know Green stayed all 4 years at UNC so he's gotta be late 20's now. Considering he's just a spot up shooter, age doesn't really matter... but I think trying to build a team that can make runs for years (2017 and later, whenever) would be better off with the young lockdown defender who opposed to a spot up shooter in his 30s and some random late 1st rounder.
DG is 26.
thad seems like a sweet man but he's a total spaz an drives me crazy. either one of the spurs will be a better fit for the future. later buddy.
this game is incredibly awesome
this is the first time all year ive heard the crowd boo and man are they killin em
and good god malik is just annihilating the teams lack of effort especially arnett moultrie who he just took behind the woodshed....something wheels didnt do in his decades with the phillies

i couldnt fully hear it but it sure sounded like they were chanting 'we want kevin' for that special needs kid from bensalem high they signed to a contract and announced him with the starting lineup before the game....if that was the case it was effin hilarious
The Sixers should have signed this guy (http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=10480630&ex_cid=espnapi_public) for the whole second half of the season and gotten him some meaningful minutes. It's not like it's any more of an aggressive tank maneuver than bringing Jason Richardson back.
Hawes to Cleveland for two 2nd round picks
Hinkie magic has started!!

Good riddance to Hawes.
farging bum.
can't expect much more for hawes. looks like sixers get earl clark and henry sims to help the salaries match a bit.

WojYahooNBA: In 3-team deal, Washington will send Eric Maynor and two 2nd-round picks to the Sixers to complete Andre Miller trade, source tells Yahoo.
i don't know what they gave up, maybe a trade exception?
ha. are these all 2014 picks? if so then i believe they have 9 or at least 8 of the 30 2nd rounders right now.
maybe sam's gonna try to package some to try and bump that pelicans pick up a few.
i like maynor though. no idea what his contract situation is but he could be a possible keeper.
sounds like a 2015 and 2016 in this second trade
Washington's 2015 and Denver's 2016
EDIT: it's New Orleans' pick, not Washington's
i read today that if the sixers don't meet the minimum salary cap by the end of the year, i think they're like 5M+ under right now, that money gets split up and goes to all of the players on the roster. pretty cool rule.
Maynor makes $2M and has a player option for $2.1M next season, so that'll eat up part of it right there
what did the sixers give up?
i can't find anything. hinkie really is magic i guess, people are just giving him shtein now.
maynor is irrelevant...basically hinkie traded having to take on maynors player option next year which he certainly will exercise since he sucks for second round picks in years they have already traded their own picks in.....a restock basically
two seconds in an incredibly deep draft for hawes' expiring deal is hinkie magic at its best

Oh shtein....ET and Lavoy to the Pacers for Danny Granger's expiring $14M!
I wanted ET gone but what's the point if granger is gone after the year too? Same situation is it not?
they probably did it to get over the salary line thing so they wouldnt have to pay out to the team...republican ruling class move
also wouldnt shocked if they waived granger. eat the salary and let him hook on elsewhere.
meanwhile hinkie get rid of 2 of their 3 best players...added draft picks in a stacked draft...god damn what a day.
the hawes move was great and as much as I wanted ET gone, this doesn't make sense to me.
Looks like they're getting a 2nd from Indy too, and the Mullens deal may also include a 2nd
So to summarize today:
Traded
Hawes
Turner
Lavoy
protected 2014 2nd (to LA Clippers)
protected 2014 2nd (to Washington)
Acquired
Danny Granger
BJ Mullens
Eric Maynor
Earl Clark
Henry Sims
Cleveland's 2014 2nd
Memphis' 2014 2nd
Golden State's 2015 2nd
New Orleans' 2015 2nd
Denver's 2016 2nd
LA Clippers' 2018 2nd

give them another future draft pick for a guy that was gonna be gone in a few months...the sixers traded their second rounders in 2015 and 2016 so today was a combination of adding in this years draft which is incredibly deep and restocking in the next couple drafts...deep down i think hinkie magic would admit hes disappointed he couldnt steal a first rounder somewhere along the line but he just wasnt dealing from a position of strength....at least not from the position that a lot people said they were in going into the deadline
their two deep for the rest of the year is beyond comical...i feel so bad for thad he deserved better
1 - mcw, maynor
2 - JA, wroten
3 - hollis, earl clark
4 - thad, moultrie
5 - b mullens, sims
//http:////www.youtube.com/v/y23WN9t_WVU?hl=en_US&version=3
yeah i didn't know there was a pick involved in the ET trade when I wrote that. still, not the best trade of the day. but better than originally.
does ET even start for the pacers? prob 6th man.
and don't sleep on the hollis-henry combo. dudes had good chemistry at gtown. just joking this team blows.
thing with henry sims is, JT3 is such a horrible coach that all of his awkward assist-happy centers end up becoming good pros once they get some real coaching and some strength training. he could eventually be a solid back up player behind noel the all-star.
and bryan mullins is like the same exact player as hawes except not as good a shooter. never been so happy about such a bad team.
hes also a significantly worse defender...yes there is a guy in the league that is significantly worse on defense than spencer hawes...its not hyperbole to say that mullens is the worst defender in the nba...but yeah overall hes pretty much a shteintier version of hawes...i think he could be an effective shooter he has the ability but what makes hawes much better is shot selection...mullens takes so many low IQ shots where as spencer had a plan and would get himself into good looks even if it just meant working into a soft spot behind the arc
The ET trade is kind of sad for everyone involved and yet it still makes sense for both teams.
And yeah. I would think he's a bench player. He's really not very good. His stats are inflated on the Sixers because the team is terrible.
After the Washington and Clipper deals today, Hinkie has promised our 2014 2nd to four different teams......none of which will see the pick. Memphis gets it if the Sixers are 51-55 and Houston gets it if the Sixers are 56-60, and since there's no shot of that, he probably offered up 41-45 and 46-50 too
I updated the first post on this page with more info on the 2nds the Sixers got: the Indiana pick is Golden State's one in 2015, and the Clipper pick is 2018
ha. 2018. hinkie's here to stay.

They waived Earl Clark to get the roster down to 15
QuoteFrom ESPN Stats and Info: Thaddeus Young (76ers): 30 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists, 7 steals (first player to reach those marks since Hakeem Olajuwon in March 1987)
More than likely the Sixers will only have to give up two 2nds for Moultrie, and they still come out the losers on that deal. What a scrub.

i might disown the team if they brought in melo....i also despise lebron....but rings i guess
I wonder how King Cole would feel about this?
And why do you despise LeBron? Dude's the second best player in the history of the sport and he's still in his prime. Sell him half the farging franchise if you have to just get him in uniform. Hell, you might even fill the Wells Fargo Center more than twice a season!
for one im a jordan guy...you cant like both...but in general i just dont like the guy...im sure its not warranted i just hate him
I can't stand either player, especially Melo. It's one of those situations if they both came I could live with it, if it were just Melo it would be hard to swallow. Mad respect for his ability to score just don't think he'll ever lead a team to a Championship.

I don't "like" either of them. They're both disgusting egomaniacs. I respect the hell out of their talents, though. Getting Lebron would be franchise-altering in the same way as getting Moses was. Dude... you just do it, no questions asked.
i cant argue that....but i also couldnt root for him
I don't hate Lebron like I used to. I used to hate Peyton manning but have come to respect him and it's kinda the same progression with lebron.
I can't stand Carmelo. He's a ball hog who won't win shtein.
And no way the Sixers get either.

Never was a big fan of Iverson's speeches, he always plays the "Im gunna make mistakes/Woe is me" card. Always thought he should be much bigger than that with all that he accomplished on the court. Last night he knocked it out of the park. Speech was very well prepared and he spoke from the heart. I doubt the city will ever get to experience a player like him again. He's an icon that came from shtein and defied odds and left it all out on the court. Can't do nothing more than tip your hat to the guy.

How about the other men on that list? Especially Richie Ashburn.
Brown is my favorite Eagle ever, though. Not especially loved or even appreciated even if he was the heart and soul of that defense.
If you asked everyone who roots for all four teams to name their favorite Philly athlete ever, Iverson would be near the top of the list, though maybe not the overall #1.
If you asked the same group to give a simple approve/disapprove to a number of different athletes and then ranked the results, controversial Iverson would be far down the list and it would be dominated by people everyone loves like Brian Dawkins.
So it depends on what you mean by most beloved.

I hate him for blowing $160 million...he could have fed a country full of hungry children. But it was his money so whatever.
He never dogged it on the court...never blamed his teammates...never puked in the huddle. He was 160 lbs soaking wet and would drive the lane like hd was a freight truck. He was as Philly as Philly gets. You might not respect his off the court persona (I found them amusing...especially his mom)...but I can't see how you'd over look him as a Philly icon.

i agree with matty....i dont get how anyone could hate him...everything sd said about him makes him so endearing...that doesn't mean he wasn't flawed both as a player and sometimes a person....but i think thats what makes him even more relatable to the average fan

over 1/3 of this country hates the president because hes black. and hes about as chalky as a brother can get.
how do you think those people...and others...are going to feel about a tatted-up wanna be gangster who doesnt speak or dress the way that they do?
philly is a colossally racist town as it is.
todd saw the wire once so he's definitely qualified to expound on what it's like to be allen iverson.
seriously, this place just gets more ludicrous by the hour.
ive actually seen the wire, in full, at least six times
WIP used to really annoy me. I listened pretty much 24x7 when I lived back home and the clown callers and some hosts pissed me off.
I loved AI from the time he donned a Sixer uniform. He definitely embodied the Philly spirit and toughness. When jerkoffs try to rip Philly for idolizing Rocky because of the fictional aspect I always tell them it's the attitude and mentality that we love. Allen had that mentality. When he was on the court he was going hard.
If it doesn't affect their ability to perform at a high level on the field, court, or ice, I don't particularly care what athletes are like. All other things being equal, sure I'd like the players to be really good people who are fun to be around, but that's such a minor point. I don't know any of them in real life, so for all I know even the guys who seem like great guys in public are complete iceholes in person. A lot of people are two-faced like that, so it wouldn't surprise me.
Do I think AI would have played better if he took practice more seriously, associated with less sketchy friends, and had a more stable personal life? Not really. He gave all he could and more on the court for the Sixers. His effort is legendary, and asking more of him is insane. That's about as good as someone the size of a normal person can play basketball.
Race is obviously an issue but that's not the only one with AI. Some fans fool themselves into thinking of players as their friends, and a lot of them don't have friends who act like Allen Iverson. He's a raw guy, and his struggles were very much in the open. People gotta realize he's not supposed to be your friend, though. He a guy who shoots basketballs on TV. Relax and enjoy his heart and tremendous talent. He was one of a kind.
its not only race with iverson as in all the people who hate him are racist...altho that's a big part of it....but its also a cultural divide where they cant relate to him...and are prejudicial because of it.....allen was basically the basketball version of everything so many white phillie fans worship GRIT over...yet so many of the same people dont like and/or could never imagine a young flamboyant black street kid having the same work ethic
I don't get how people can hate Iverson. He's probably my favorite Philly athlete in my lifetime and the sixers aren't my favorite Philly team.

The 76ers have been outscored by 297 points during this losing streak, making this the second-worst 15-game stretch for any team in NBA history. eagles/sixers are about a cointoss. I do think if the Sixers hit with this draft they're set up for a more stable run of success but they're obviously further away from that than the eagles are. Flyers are the same old, same old. Phillies are easily the least of the four.
how are the eagles any different from the flyers right now?
The bigger question is why Chameleon is bumping a topic from back when the Eagles were coming off two divisional losses in which they scored a combined 10 points, when we still thought the starting QB was still Michael Vick, and thinking that has anything to do with what people's expectations are now.
Quote from: ice grillin you on March 16, 2014, 12:27:39 AM

different eagles regime and one that I think is trending upwards. I know Berube is a new coach but the Flyers are operating with the exact same mindset and the exact same flaws that they've always had. Kelly and crew may flame out but there's at least hope there for a higher ceiling than I think we can expect with the Flyers the next three years.
And yeah, I made that post when the Eagles were in pretty bad shape.
they are the same team to me....some good young players....teams good enough to make the playoffs and with a crazy run win a title but most likely will be looking till next year

im worried about what the sixers are gonna do with the pellies pick....no matter who they take first isn't going to be a shooter....they are building a team of brick layers...defensively they could be sick with a core of wiggy mcw nerlens but who is going to shoot the ball...I almost feel like mcbuckets wouldn't be a terrible pick if they end up out of the top ten....otherwise BPA and go from there
I was gonna say McDermott depending on where they sit. BPA or him.
They can find a shooter with one of their million 2's
Trust in Hinkie son
how hard will philly go in for mcdermott. he's Kyle Korver with more talent, they will go farging apeshtein over him if the sixers draft him.
I'd prefer someone like Vonleh if he's available but I think McDermott has a good chance to be a good NBA player and igy's right that he'd fill a role on this team if they get someone like wiggins. They need a shooter regardless since that will never been MCW's thing.
he has zero chance to be a good nba player....but he has a legit chance to be a great nba shooter
he could be a lethal pick n pop guy...in todays nba you cant underestimate how important it is to have a guy that can roll off setting a screen and hit a 20 footer....its what has made dirk a hall of famer....it breaks a defense down so badly when you can stretch like that
they need someone who can play the 2
kevin love will be the 4 in 2 years....sixers got all the cash in the world. gotta spend.

She's got a nice set for sure. I kept hoping she'd walk by our seats so I could get a pic with her.

Not that it matters...but Moultrie is suspended five games for violating the drug policy
I was at the game Saturday night, 4 rows behind the Sixers bench. It was an incredible experience to watch the game that way. The size and speed of the players was really cool to see. Brett Brown is a psycho on the sidelines, he's constantly pacing and barking at his assistant coaches. There were a few times when a guy made a nice play and he'd look back to an assistant (probably someone working with that guy) and give him a smile and thumbs up. It was just cool to see those kind of interactions that you don't get to see in a normal game.
Looks like they're about to get another one...jeez
good chance the bucks win tonight too
Sixers doing their part but the Bucks ain't winning shtein. Pelicans coming back too.
Good collapse in the second half, Sixers.
Yeah Bucks aren't gonna pull it off. Imagine the Pistons losing b2b to PHL and MIL? Fire everyone.

It was going to happen before Josh Smith took over the fourth. I popped in and out of the game, Bucks basketball is pretty unwatchable right now and this was one the their better recent efforts. At least the Sixers D-leaguers have some entertaining bloopers and some guys like Sim City trying to make the most out of being featured players for once in their career. Watching the Bucks is brutal, they just listlessly coughed this game up.
The Pistons are as far in the tank as anyone right now, they'd love to move up to 7th in the lottery order to make sure their pick stays protected.
I like Sim City's game a bit...I think he'll be a nice role player
that's the worst nickname ever.
but yeah i had season tickets to gtown during all of sims years. he's a big doppick dude who takes little baby steps down the court but he's not much worse than hibbert was coming out of college. JT3 doesn't know how to coach big guys. with some good coaching and strength training he'll be a solid backup for someone.
Hopefully he stays here.
Mullens stinks and I'd keep Sims and Varnado around
another nice little game for sim city...has gotten to the line 14 times in 23 minutes
you can lock in that 20% and mcw for rook of the year
cant get mad at the win, only that it might help boston
the 2 is the 2 and the 2 will be the 1
Sonsabitches are trying to win this
not going to but it doesn't matter anymore....they cant catch the bucks
Bucks lookin good tonight
They could win tonight and then maybe catch two more next week
The farg is up with Hollis?!
bucks at one point or another have been in almost every game in the second half that they've played in the last month or so but never win
they have 14 wins on the year they aren't winning three games in the next seven days
hollis is feelin it
I could see them knocking off any of the teams they have left. If they finish the Raps off that puts them at 15.
Indy
Cleveland
Toronto
Washington
Atlanta
Indy is in the crapper. Washington may be their toughest game left. Atlanta is awful and Cleveland isn't much better
they have been playing zesty teams for over six months and have 14 wins
and even if your miracle scenario were to come true you are assuming the sixers wont win any of their games
I'm being optimistic. Might be the booze.

2-37 vs everyone else

Quote@tmoore76ers: Not saying Sixers should trade MCW. Just wondering if it'd be worth considering if it would allow you to end up with Wiggins and Randle.
i would
I think I would too. I like MCW but landing those two would be huge
I'll pass. MCW will be a top 8 pg if he develops ANY ability to shoot.
imo hes never going to be a good shooter....if you wanna keep him your hope is that he becomes rajon rondo
and if they fill in properly around him then theres nothing wrong with that
personally i don't see massive growth potential with him....but that said i really like him and would def ride or die with him going forward......i don't wanna sound negative about him at all....im just answering the hypothetical
to j's point tho why randle...how about wiggy and exum or wiggy and vonleh....the possibilities are endless if you can get up there
I'm really only talking about him becoming a passable shooter. He already has the height and ability to be a great defender and got a crazy high % of steals in college and for a rookie. I'm not sure he'll ever be a 'good' shooter but I have no problem with him as a cornerstone piece. Part of it is I'm just not as high on Randle. Maybe for Exum.
I'm not sold on Exum but I'd be cool with Vonleh
I just have a good feeling about Randle. I think with him and Nerlens on the blocks...a banger and a shot blocker...they could be special.
you don't want randle to be known as a banger....hes not that guy....that's why this year was not the best for him...college game held him back because of the lack of spacing...
randles best case scenario is larmarcus aldrige.....he has to develop that 15-17 footer to stretch defenses....if hes your guy that's why
not to be antonio davis
I think his body type means he's be good as a banger.
Obviously he needs to develop that jumper but why couldn't he make a living on the blocks?

his wingspan is ridiculous as far as getting into lanes and shtein....but he was really bad on defense this year as far as staying in front of his man and on pick n rolls....this is an area where improvement is def possible tho...and if that happens how sick would wiggins and him be up top defensively....that makes my bathing suit area feel funny

its not so much that he wouldn't be good as a banger but do you want a top five pick to be a banger?...hes has so much more potential than being a on the block guy....his handle is nice for 250....he gives a mismatch in that dept.....not to mention on the blocks is not where the league is headed....me and you have talked about this before
if you think his future is as a banger then you don't want to take him
I'm not explaining myself well then...I don't want him to only set up camp in the lane. When I say banger I'm talking about a physical guy who can dominate down low. Of course I'd want a guy whose game is multi faceted but when it's time to bang you've got a physical dude who can dominate.

QuoteThe Philadelphia 76ers may build a practice facility and administrative headquarters on the Camden waterfront, the Inquirer's Julia Terruso said. The facility would be near Campbell's Field, she reports.
The Sixers have practiced at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine since 1999. (Before that they practiced on a West Philly street court with chain nets, I assume.) The Philadelphia Business Journal reported last summer the team was looking at the Navy Yard for a state-of-the-art practice facility, but that deal fell through in April. (Normally the descriptor of "state-of-the-art" would be pointless — how else would they build it? — but it is the Sixers, after all.)
The building would likely receive tax breaks due to the New Jersey Economic Opportunity Act, a bill sponsored by Camden State Sen. Donald Norcross. He didn't comment to the Inquirer about the proposed facility, but told the paper: "Literally, we have people knocking on the door and the mayor has heard it and we have, too, so it wouldn't surprise me if many others wouldn't be looking."
The lack of a practice facility is said to be a drawback when the team attempts to attract free agents. Back in 2011, then-Sixers beat writer Kate Fagan wrote in the Inquirer that "nothing illustrates this point better than the movie Just Wright." In the film, Elton Brand attempts to convince Queen Lafitah's character, a trainer, to sign with the team in front of a swanky, fictional practice facility. Oddly enough, the Sixers landed Brand, the top free agent in 2008, despite the lack of a practice facility. Wait, why am I writing about Just Wright?
The Flyers also have a practice facility in New Jersey, in Voorhees. The Eagles practice at the Novacare Complex at Broad and Pattison in South Philadelphia, while the Phillies play pretty much every day and don't really practice, per se. The Union are planning to build a practice facility in Chester.
I saw someone ask if this would rejuvenate Camden.
Really? No. Come on.
Free soup for everyone!

Philadelphia will fight to keep the 76ers practice facility on its side of the Delaware River.
After reports that the team was near a deal with Camden to build a practice facility and team headquarters on the waterfront, Mayor Nutter contacted The Inquirer with an adamant message Friday afternoon: the facility belongs in Philadelphia.
"This is the best sports town in the U.S.A., the fourth-largest media market in the country, this is the Philadelphia 76ers we're talking about - Wilt Chamberlain, Julius Erving, Allen Iverson," Nutter said. "This is a Philly team - so I think fans, frankly, would be very insulted at any idea that part of the team would be outside the City of Philadelphia."
Reached Friday, 76ers CEO Scott O'Neil referred to a comment from Wednesday in which he said the team was "looking at a number of sites for our training center, which includes several locations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania."
Nutter said the city had shown the team six public-land options in the last six months, including the Navy Yard, which he said was still an option on the table.
Simultaneously, talks continue between the team and Comcast-Spectacor owners over a private deal to build adjacent to the Wells Fargo Center, where the team plays, he said. According to Comcast-Spectacor spokesman Ike Richman, "We will work hard in conjunction with the City of Philadelphia to keep the 76ers' practice facility here."
But the competition in Camden could be financially more attractive to the team.
Sources said this week a deal fueled by hefty tax incentives could be close on the Camden waterfront near the minor league baseball park, Campbell's Field, where the Riversharks play. The move would be a substantial coup for the struggling city, which has long tried to build up its waterfront.
Nutter said, "We know that New Jersey is certainly throwing, or trying to throw, a whole bunch of cash in their face," but he described Philadelphia's offer as "very competitive."
Nutter said that he spoke to O'Neil as recently as Thursday and that he and managing owner Josh Harris had said they were "looking to build a relationship with the City of Philadelphia."
Robert Corrales, spokesman for Camden Mayor Dana L. Redd, declined to comment on the potential Sixers move but said in a statement, "Camden is the perfect home for any business looking to expand or relocate." He cited the Economic Opportunity Act, which offers increased tax incentives to attract businesses.
Since 1999, the Sixers have rented practice space at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Team owners have said they need their own state-of-the-art facility to attract potential free agents. Regardless of where the practice facility lands, the team will still play games at the Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia.
The Flyers already practice in New Jersey - in Voorhees, but Nutter said the hockey team's management had already forged a deep relationship with the city. Flyers owner Ed Snider built the Wells Fargo Center.
"The Flyers have been enormously involved in the lifeblood of the City of Philadelphia," Nutter said, citing youth hockey leagues, five city rinks, and the team's success in the playoffs over the last two decades.
"This is a new ownership group from New York coming into the Philadelphia marketplace, and it would seem to me they would want to build a reputation and a relationship with the Philadelphia fan base before taking any steps to partially move the team out of the city," he said. "They are the Philadelphia 76ers, and they belong lock, stock, and barrel in Philadelphia."
Nutter called 76ers fans patient after a season in which the team finished with the second-worst record in the league.
"Obviously, they had a challenging season, but it will not help the team's reputation and standing with Philadelphia and its fans to take part of the team somewhere else," he said. "Their marketing and branding slogan is 'Building together.' Well, I think one of the ways you show you want to build together is to build in Philadelphia."
camden threw enough cake at the sixers and bagged their new practice facility....should have been at the navy yard....but the square footage they are getting in camden is enormous and should make for an amazing facility

I guess the flyers come closest with the P, but Philadelphia is such a long name that it probably won't fit on a jersey and still look right. Could go like the Sixers back in the day with Phila or just change it to Philly.

QuoteThe Philadelphia 76ers have expressed a willingness to trade for Houston Rockets guard Jeremy Lin depending on what sort of assets Houston is willing to attach to the deal, according to sources close to the process.
Sources told ESPN.com that the Sixers, who have ample room on their payroll to absorb Lin's contract, have emerged as a leading contender to take on Lin in a trade that sends no salary back to the Rockets, which would enable the Rockets to extend a rich offer in free agency to either Carmelo Anthony or Chris Bosh.
Sources say that the Milwaukee Bucks are another team that would consider trading for Lin if the Rockets add a sweetener or two to the deal for the privilege of shedding Lin's contract to a team that can comfortably absorb it.
It's believed that the Rockets would have to send Philadelphia at least one future first-round pick to convince the Sixers to go through with the deal, given that Lin is owed $15 million next season despite the fact that his contract will only count for $8.4 million for salary cap purposes.
Sources say that the Sixers, though, are happy to take on Lin -- despite the presence of reigning NBA Rookie of the Year Michael Carter-Williams as their starting point guard -- provided that the extra asset or two they get from Houston is sufficiently attractive.

Summer league game is on right now. Like what I see from KJ Mcdaniels. Can't wait to see Noel against NBA level competition. He might need some adjustment time. I think he'll be better than Ratliff but not quite as good as Camby.
i have big hopes for hollis thompson...once its all said and done i wouldnt be suprised if he turns into a top flight knock down jump shooter....the sixers version of danny green...like green hes pretty awful when he puts the ball on the floor....but if you can get him in places where he can set his feet and raise up he has the makings of a really good shooter
All in on Noel right now. 5 more blocks today in 25 mins. Picked up rebounding total to 9 and is scoring. I expect him to need to polish more offensively still but I think he's a legit 4/5 starter if his knees stay attached.

Lin deal agreed to in principle
QuoteThe Sixers and the Houston Rockets have agreed in principle to a trade that would send point guard Jeremy Lin and a first-round pick to Philadelphia, according to a report from Jake Pavorsky of Liberty Ballers.
However, the deal hinges on a few things, according to Pavorsky. Chief among them is that the Rockets sign a max-contract player, which would more than likely be free agent power forward Chris Bosh.
But even that hinges on whether LeBron James leaves the Miami Heat. If James stays with the Heat, so will Bosh. If James takes his talents elsewhere, Bosh will leave along with him with Houston being his landing spot.
Lin is due $14.89 million next season. According to Pavorsky, in order for the Rockets to sign Bosh to a maximum contract, they will have to unload Lin's expiring deal to clear cap space

hes way too small to play center....hes gonna bulk up obviously over the next few years but right now hes even too small to play pf...he just gets bullied to death down low....thats why embiid is the perfect compliment for him
that said his athleticism is off the charts....he looks faster and hoppier this week than he even did at kentucky...to steal a nfl term hes the ultimate quick twitch athlete...the speed in which he gets down the court is crazy too....there was one play last night where he actually made a mistake trying to reach on someone at half court for asteal....the guard blew past him and went to the rim where nn actually blocked it (altho dood was fouled by someone else)....but how he recovered from half court to come back and contest was amazing
his offensive game is a complete mess but we all knew that...he needs to improve his handle....if he could use his quickness when he has the ball he would become a great weapon at the 4 spot as hed be able to go right by just about any big in the league
every game he's played he's stolen the ball from a guard at the top of the key, his hands are super quick

Minnesota always talks about winning now. They'd still be getting Waiters+Bennet+Probably a future 1st from Cleveland. Rumor I saw had the Sixers getting Dion Waiters back in the deal. They need a st and hes talented but I don't know if he's a fit.
he's streaky but i see him as a less annoying and more talented ET. wouldn't hate it but mostly meh on him.

waiters really improved his three point shooting last year but hes not very good at anything and doesnt posess the length or athletcism that hinkie magic loves so much....plus he fist fights his teammates
i agree with matty....thad's value would be higher sometime during the season...but really its never going to be that high (maybe a couple second rounders now) because of the opt out clause he has next summer...altho maybe at the trade deadline a desperate contender throws a first at you...which is why you wait

why the hell would they try this season.....would be the dumbest thing they could ever do...i will say tho that redoing the lottery doesnt really hurt them this year as there arent any superstars up top and no great players period in this draft...so while youd of course rather be higher than lower there isnt a huge difference btwn 1 and 10 this year...at least not yet
the thing i love about hinkie magic so much is that everyone is on board and honest....no one trying to pretend they are anything other than what they are....even the owner....hes like farg everyone - LETS DO THIS!!

QuoteIn bigger news, the Cavs & Wolves have reportedly agreed to a trade, in principle, around Kevin Love.
The potential deal would send Kevin Love to Cleveland, Andrew Wiggins and Thaddeus Young to the Wolves, and Anthony Bennett to the Sixers.
Tanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktankanktanktank
lololol Bennett is awful.
i disagree...yeah he didn't play well last year but i would love this if this is true. perfect scenario for him to get past last year and he'd be a great fit for this team if back in form.
and he's been killin summer league.
Huh...well then, I am in. Why not take a shot? I haven't been watching any summer league lately.
another asset for hinkie, the snake oil salesman
the game of three card monte hes playing on the fan base just got richer
maybe killin it is a stretch but he's like 20 lbs lighter than last year. and people seem to forget dude only played 12 minutes a game last year.
say what you will about hinkie but getting mcw, nerlens, embiid and bennett in his first two drafts is pretty slick.
i cant wait for 2021 when they maybe win 47 games or something and get the 4 seed
it will all be worth it!
Don't mind MDS...he's going full blown Cataldi lately
Bennett was awful last season but like Matty said he's looked good in the summer league and dropped 20 pounds. Plus he's still young and can score. They're getting another lottery pick for Thad who's going to opt out after this season anyway. Pair him alongside Noel and this season is suddenly a lot more interesting. Rumor is the sixers might be getting picks back too.
bennett alone is way more than i would have expected for thad.
not gonna get my hopes up though, i imagine someone will come around before the 23rd with a better deal than thad.
oooo more picks! i cant wait to see how this all plays out 5 years from now. just hand the title to hinkie.
wait, you dont win the title for collecting players who might be good in a few years?

Versus doing what? Trying to win the championship this year or next with Thad?
i could care less about thad...its not about him or this trade
its about hinkie and his minions acting like the only possible way to win is to suck for 5 years, collect "talent" and figure it all out whenever. it goes against the fabric of sports. im not asking them to go all out for the 7 seed. but this nbadl team masquerading as the sixers is a joke. and hinkie is just some nerd who a decibel of a gm that thinks SO outside the box that he threw a bunch of money at howard, bosh and melo. what a trailblazer!
who is hinkie? why am i worshiping at his alter?
The Sixers have 5 players on their roster drafted in the 1st round over the last 2 drafts. Bennet was a laughable #1 pick, but if he'd have gone anywhere between 5 and 10, he probably wouldn't have been highlighted quite so much for the way he played last year.
No idea if he can make himself a viable part of this team or not, but I still really like this trade.

they actually have been pretty terrible for more than a decade before hinkie got here....ill take his philosophy anyday over trading for chris webber and drafting jiri welsch...altho if you have a better one other than hysterically screaming the same thing over and over im open to ideas
i don't even believe Todd really feels the way he's posting. it's summer, the phillies suck, and he's straight trolling because he's bored. which, by the way, is almost as sad as actually having the opinions he has, but not quite.
yeah i think its a just to be different thing with him...hinkie has pretty much gotten universal praise almost across the board with everything hes done so the lil guy just figures hell go the other way....because he has no real plan of his own to make the team better....he just yells about people loving hinkie

He's trying to be a contrarian like his idol. The NBA set the system up this way, you either have to hit big on a f/a or be bad enough to draft high and pray you draft a superstar. What other options do they give teams to improve? I think it's funny they're now trying to modify the draft. Don't do it when Cleveland tanks for half a decade, just do it now that the Sixers are doing it. They're just made because Hinkie's playing their game and bragging about it. That's the one problem with Hinkie, you don't tank and call it a successful season. It sends the wrong message to the league.
except ive never been a contrarian and in fact im 100% with everyone on hinkie....if there was a ever a time to be a contratrian it would right now with hinkie...i say what i believe and believe what i say...and i would never yell to just yell about something like the lil guy is....ill yell all day but ill say what id do instead (whether that ends up being right or wrong is another thing)
losers
im not trolling...im totally OUT on hinkie and im not buying into his master tanking plan. there are other ways to go about it. such as drafting players than can, you know, play.
name them
you have three players you would have taken over nerlens - embiid and saric
name them
i was IN on the nerlens pick and the tank last year. its when he threw away the draft this year and set up another tank for 15 that i realized he has 0 interest in winning and just wants to play fantasy basketball
but x and mcbuckets wouldve been ideal
doesnt work like that....who would you have taken at 3?
hinkie has nerlens embiid and saric
you have nerlens _____ and mcbuckets
either way your spasms are even more laughable in that the only thing you would have done that hinkie hasnt is the two players this year but name your third player and lets see whose plan will come closer to a title down the road
please explain how he threw away the draft this year...by not magically getting the 1 or 2 pick?

by drafting (another) injured big man and by drafting a guy who wont play in the nba for 2 years, if that. you tanked and you threw away an entire season and have absolutely nothing to show for it. its insulting to the league and the fan base.
insulting to the fanbase ?
there's maybe three people out of millions from this fanbase that have an issue with what hinkie is doing. lucky us you're one of them.
The "insulting to the fan base" is a WIP catchphrase to the max.
VOICE OF THE PEOPLE!
I wish we could go back to the glory days when we drafted guys like Mo Speights and Igoudala was our superstar.
I'd rather tank for 5 seasons than be a fringe playoff team every year who maybe picks in the 10-15 range. That's NBA purgatory.
its so dumb and shortsighted to say stupid shtein like they wasted the 2014 season because of the draft...as if this year means anything whatsoever
if you wanna disagree with hinkie do it because of nerlens and embiids injuries and argue that long term you dont ever think they will stay healthy enough to be difference makers...i would disagree and say that its more than worth the chance (especially in the case of embiid) but its a valid argument...whereas complaining about about draft picks not playing in 2014 is ignorant

the point of wasting a season was to, you know, get a couple high picks and turn it around. not draft more players than wont play.
but if you guys want to wait around for 5 years on the off chance that it all works, go for it. id much rather get on with it. get rich or die tryin.
it's cute how you think nba players take 5 years to mature.
also, this guy is awesome.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TedsAKIMgN4
lol so todd thought they would get wiggins this year and challenge to come out of the east? i mean, that's the only plausible explanation for why he's freaking out about this.
mother farger, it was always a 3-4 year plan. but damn, doug mcdermott!
no...youre too far up hinkie's peehole to see what they are doing
im not exactly super excited about "3-4 years" of zesty basketball for the an off chance that this thing works. their starting 5 this couldve been mcw-x-thad-buckets-noel. is that good enough to win the the east? a title? the division? of course not. but its something to get behind and excited about.
you see how that goes. you reevaluate after this season. swing a trade. you have cap space. maybe the mcw/x/noel trifecta interests some big time free agents in 15 or 16. maybe you sign one. youd have the money.
theres plenty of ways to go about building a title contender other than suck for 5 years, throw a bunch of shtein at a wall and hope enough pieces stick.
mcw-x-thad-buckets-noel
is no better than
mcw-x-x-x-noel
unless there's something you know that you're not telling us.
clearly no one but me calls exum "x"
slight aside: are you going back to nica
yes sir. next week.
Todd sees 5 years of bad sixers basketball
I see 1 more bad year where we as fans get to see young guys develop followed by 3 or 4 years of watching a young group with talent grow. I'd rather be good enough to be in thd championship conversation or have a young group I can get excited about. Theres really no in between. Especially in the nba which isn't like hockey where you can get hot for 2 months and win it all.
yea theres 2 "young guys" on the roster you get see develop, outside of some potential 2nd round picks that could become role players and whatever the hell anthony bennett is. im sure their skills will shine around a roster full of nbadl talent. have fun.
after that, you get their pick in the upcoming weak draft, the oft-injured embiid and the complete wild card that is saric, then mcw and noel leaving after their rookie deals are up because they dont want to play for a loser franchise. then the rebuilding process can start over again!. can't wait!

twolves are trying to sell that they can make the playoffs somehow.
there are some rumors circulating that they're getting a Heat 1st rd pick back as well (the Sixers)?
they are beyond delusional if they think they can make the playoffs in the west next year....if they can resign thad to reasonable money its a perfectly fine move...hes young and while he will never get better hes a really good piece to have on a good team
i just cant believe how strong the hinkie magic is if this happens
QuotePhilly Gets Yet Another High Upside Youngster
One team that certainly knows how to embrace the full rebuild is the Sixers. Young was the last player on their roster with a proven track record and was their oldest guy at only 26 years of age. By ridding themselves of the comparatively old fart, Philly now has an entire projected rotation of first, second, and third year players. No one expects the team to be competitive this year and the players will all be given ample time to work through their mistakes without the pressure of having to be good just yet.
That makes this the perfect place for Anthony Bennett. Last year's first overall pick had the bust label thrown on him faster than just about any prospect in NBA history this past season. Admittedly, he was not very good at all, but he's far from a lost cause.
Among 78 first-year players last season, he finished 75th in win shares (-0.4), 65th in win shares per 48 minutes (-0.028), and 59th in player efficiency rating (6.9). He shot an abysmal 35.6% from the floor and 24.5% from deep and only managed to earn 12.8 minutes per game on a fairly lousy Cavs team. Sure, it wasn't great, but there were plenty of valid excuses.
His college-to-pros transition period was messy. Debilitating sleep apnea and a fairly serious shoulder injury caused the young Canadian to miss his first Summer League and start his rookie season out of shape. He also has a lot of unfair pressure on him to be good right away for being a first overall pick, but he comes from a terrible draft class and can't really take the blame for the Cavs selecting him there.
In Philly, Bennett gets to hit the reset button. He's the only serviceable power forward on their depth chart, so he should inherit all the minutes he can handle there next to Nerlens Noel. The Sixers run like they stole something (they led the league in pace at 101.62 possessions per game), so he will have a chance to put up fairly big numbers. He showed occasional signs of being able to stretch the floor with his long range shooting last season and has the makings of a good rebounder as well. He also looked spry and more in shape at this year's Summer League, so he could be poised for a breakout year in a Sixer jersey. With a future core of last year's Rookie of the Year in Michael Carter-Williams, Bennett, Noel, Joel Embiid, and Dario Saric, the future is starting to look pretty good in Philly, even if the present isn't quite there yet.

I read Bennett averaged a double double the last month of the season. Thad has no place on the current roster. Getting a young guy who can stretch the floor for him is a no brainer and a great move by Hinkie if it happens.

QuoteThe Minnesota Timberwolves will acquire Philadelphia 76ers forward Thaddeus Young for a 2015 first-round draft pick and two role players, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
The Timberwolves will send Philadelphia the Miami Heat's 2015 first-round pick Minnesota will acquire as part of the Kevin Love deal with Cleveland, sources said. The T-Wolves will send forward Luc Mbah a Moute and guard Alexey Shved to the Sixers.
Terrible.
Why is it terrible? Love Thad, but what is his purpose on this team? He's going to opt out at season's end. At least they got something for him. Plus this makes them that much closer to a top pick next season. Really see no downside.
I'd have preferred the Bennett trade, but this isn't too bad either. I'm actually a bit surprised they got a future 1st for him. Assets. It's all about the assets.
they got 2 guys who suck and a meaningless draft pick....maybe you hold onto thad and deal him at the deadline? what they got for him is basically a bag of dicks. dicks. they got a bag of dicks.
but everyone is under the hinkie spell so of course its the bestest trade evar
It's probably a top 20 pick...hardly 'worthless'. You're not getting much more for Thad whether you move him now or move him at the deadline. Why would a team give you more for him when he can opt out a few months later? Only team giving you anything for him is a team in the championship hunt and they don't have much to give and all their picks are 20 and beyond. Plus...losing Thad makes them that much worse.
id ballpark the heat having about the 4th or 5th best record in the east...which probably puts them around the 20th pick. looking through the last handful of drafts, the best case scenario is a role player in that spot. which is just terrific. love role players. so valuable and hard to find.
they got nothing for him now they couldnt get at the deadline, i.e. a pick. the 2 players are useless. but now they are down to 2 nba players on their roster, so the tanking will be a joy to watch.
You need role players, at least they get a chance at a young guy with upside. An extra first also gives them flexibility to make other moves. What else were you expecting to get for Thad? What purpose does he serve next season? And the two players aren't 'useless' when you consider this:
QuoteWhile fellow freshman Andrew Wiggins will leave after the season, Kansas teammate Joel Embiid told ESPN that he will talk to the Jayhawks coaching staff and also his mentor, fellow Cameroon native and NBA player Luc Mbah a Moute, before making a final decision concerning his NBA future.
Embiid said he's not yet thinking about the decision just moments after watching the Jayhawks get knocked out of the NCAA tournament with a loss to Stanford in the round of 32.
maybe he'll teach embiid how to tweet better
thad isn't any more than a role player either. no point in keeping him around. bennett would have been a crazy good upside deal. this trade is whatever but it's not bad.

and im gonna get mad deep like a threat and then blow up your whole project...and take all you assets - hinkie magic
werent you all in on ed stefanski, too?
no...I loved him cause he was city but I never ever defended one move of his
im way too lazy to double check that but you are an unquestioned sixers homer, so im pretty sure you were all over ed's dick
I loved him....I still love him...but I killed him for moves
get it son!

good take on thad....not hinkie cock worship so ya'all might not dig it

Did they get Hasheem Thabeet?
no but if they did havas would call it brilliant and slobber up some hinkie man juice
lolol
Looks like they did bring him in
upside! tank! hinkie magic! chip kelly and nick foles stink!
they released him....trade was all about assets!
tankadelphia yo...

what a dumb stat. a 25% increase in 3 point attempts is not good when nobody can shoot for shtein.
sabr nerd
nerd magic!
according to twitterz, Joran McCrae is playing in australia next year.
QuoteHoward Eskin @howardeskin 4m
.NBA source. @sixers GM Sam Hinkie fired Courtney Witte, Dir Player Personel and all scouts. Hinkie has no heart. Now its hard to find jobs
lol im not even sure if hinkie will last to see his "plan" through
what a disaster of a human being
witte is a complete hack POS...it basically like getting rid of roob
Anyone who has been scouting for the Sixers for the last 15 years can't be that good.

True. In fact I think that was the justification for getting rid of Hip Hop.
hip hop and lil g were the best
one time i got an ann iverson trading card
she was a better mascot than hip hop
lolol
Saw that Witte ended up with the Clippers...so much for The King's rant
also apparently no scouts got fired
king stay the king

lol. least surprising news of the weekend.
lol Eskin is a shell of himself. Nothing left but a beard and an Armani suit
and the lil guy favoriting his tweets
Is this true Todd?!
i do not follow him on twitter.
I do and think it's funny when he posts something that it's totally wrong or four hours late as if it's new.
And when his kid busts his balls it's funny

How come Embiid is the only one sweaty and he's in a walking boot
probably jerking off to a kim kardashian tweet
They're over in Spain for the tourney. Embiid is still the only one sweating

Would it surprise anyone if Noel was a Michael Sams fan?
brett brown: i am proud of nerlens, joel & michael for coming to spain and showing support for dario, another cornerstone of our program.
i admit i get a little chub thinking about them play together.
one day.

Also with Thad gone, Embiid switched from 11 to the 21 he wore at Kansas
Spain looks like it's behind on camera technology.
So what are the odds of all these guys ever playing together on the same team? Gotta be less than 60%.
Hinkie has an itchy trigger finger to trade them for draft picks, trade exceptions and cash considerations.
BTW every time I see a European dude I hear Havas calling him eurotrash in the back of my mind lolol
if those 4 play together for more than 16 seconds i will sell lumber in corpus christi free of charge for 1 year
that confident
they will be playing with each other just about two years from now and maybe earlier if they get saric out of his contract next summer...this isnt a difficult equation
The fact that they're making the play of having those guys there kinda shows the roadmap.
i have no idea how euro contracts work but wouldn't it be easy to buy saric out of his contract with the extra billions of dollars that the sixers have?
then they can have coming out parties for both dario and nerlens in 2015. get it, he's gay.
those cut off sweatpants definitely cost $500+.
