hue jackson officially out
many how bad does that carson palmer trade look now
that's surprising he's gone already. but i guess after what he said about the team he couldn't come back?
whats hilarious is that at the very least he was the driving force behind getting palmer and at the most he was the only person there who was willing to give up what they did for him
now he and two high picks are gone and all thats left in the rubble is a broken down ginger qb who just lost his best and only friend in the organization
They'll probably hire Winston Moss now.
Broken Ass Palmer - Kyle Boller - Terrelle Pryor

Jacksonville hired Mike Mularkey as their head coach two days after his Falcon offense got shut out in a playoff game
teams should always base their contracts on the single most recent game the potential player or coach participated in
Well in Mularkey's case his body of work sucks as doesn't warrant another HC job.
right but if thats your belief and the falcons had put up 40 on the giants you woudlnt do a 180 and hire him

Broncos DC Dennis Allen to be the next to have his career killed coaching the Raiders.
He's the guy who was rumored to have turned down the Eagles' offer to become DC in order to take the Broncos' offer. The good news is he'll be available to do position coaching in a year or two.
Greg Schiano is supposedly the Bucs next HC.
Good, he's one of the most overrated coaches in the country. To not have been able to go to a BCS bowl out of that zesty conference is an embarrassment.
Interesting hire. I, for one, am happy for him.
Bad timing for Rutgers, though. They need a great hire.
Juan Castillo? :crazy
rutgers "needs" a great hire?
when did rutgers football ever need anything...they need to not be completely irrelevant...then worry about things like good coaches
To not be completely irrelevant, they need a great hire. That's the idea.
yeah but completely irrelevant schools dont make great hires...a rutgers or a syracuse i suppose could hire someone who ends up being good for them...but they arent going to get someone where when announced everyone is like 'wow what a great hire'
its gonna be more like hmmm whats his resume look like
i think they would be really lucky to get someone like schiano circa 2000 or whenever they hired him...altho im not sure they would have even gotten him if not for his north jersey roots
Tom Bradley?
sounds about right to me
rutgers needs someone who can recruit better than schiano did - he was great at what he did; establishing and building the brand, getting a local tv deal done w sny to air programming, naming rights to the stadium, etc...
but his recruiting has lacked heavily. aside from the obvious guys - rice and britt - and some lower level guys - leonard and mccourty - there has been a lack of talent. the best qb he ever recruited left after his freshman year to go play for arizona.
granted, college football is dead in this area of the country, but there is no reason why rutgers should not have at least been in a bcs bowl once in the past 11 years.

That's my point...I think we're talking different languages a little. They need to make a great hire, but that's all within perspective for the school. A great hire for them would be different than a great hire for, say, USC. They need to make a great choice, at least for recruiting purposes.
so he couldnt win in the worst bcs conference in college football, but hes going to beat drew brees, cam newton and a considerably average falcons team.
no.
this goes for any BE school that would be put in position of hiring a coach this offseason...not just rutgers...i cant imagine how hard it is to make even a solid hire right now with the conf. in a shambles and not even guaranteed of a bcs bid in the future
which makes it even worse because you can make a case that if rutgers had the same success as wvu has had over the past 10 years, there is a good chance they would have left the big east. whatever, go army.
read on twitter that he skipped the funeral yesterday to keep negotiating with the Bucs. i find that odd
Do you find it odd that someone would tweet about it or odd that Schiano would avoid an event he probably didn't want to go to anyway to make sure he locked down a life-changing new job?
i find it weird that if he felt strong enough about paterno to go to his funeral he would blow it off for something that could wait one day

Former Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell plans to join the offensive coaching staff of the Baltimore Ravens, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

At first glance that statement seems ludacris. But to be a pro-bowler in the NFL, you basically just need to be one of the top 5 QB's in your conference to get strong consideration. So top 5 out of 16 isn't really that impressive. It's basically a 1 in 3 chance for him to make the pro bowl at some point in his career. So the odds if him not making a pro bowl roster at least once are rediculously high, especially when you look at how the league is catered to the pass. How many rookie QB's and WR's have made immediate contributions over the last 4 or 5 years? It doesn't take 3 or 4 years to "develop" a QB like it used to. So Luck will start right away and if he's got half decent talent around him, he'll put up big numbers from the get go.
So yeah, as crazy as it seems, I'd say it's going to be harder for Luck to not make the pro-bowl at any point in his career than it would be for him to make the HOF.
I think IGY posted it because of Goodell's threat to end the Pro Bowl if they can't figure out a way to make it competitive.

QuoteTerrell Owens Could Face Jail Time For Atlanta Child Support Case
For a moment, Last weekend, Terrell Owens was in the "spotlight" as he started his new job with the Allen (Tex.) Wranglers Indoor Football League team, but now it's being said that Owens might be heading to jail over an Atlanta child support case.On Friday, the Fulton County contempt of court petition, which was filed by Melanie Paige Smith, says that Owens owes $5,000 for each of the months, December, January, February, and March.A Fulton County judge ordered the payments for support of the couple's daughter back in 2007.In a letter to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Smith's attorney, Randall Kessler said, "he has not indicated if he ever plans to send another penny for their daughter". The attorney added, "We plan to ask the court to send a strong message, given that he has only paid support in the last 10 months after a contempt action has been filed against him".Smith is one of several women seeking child support from the former NFL wide receiver.
Stevie Johnson got paid big time by the Bills.
5 Yrs/$36.3M with $19.5M guaranteed.
Paging Mr. Rosenhaus...
His numbers over the last 2 years are better than DeSean's too, so maybe this will help with a long term contract getting done. I have to believe Johnson's contract is closer to what the Eagles are thinking for Jackson than what Rosenhaus is.
the fact that johnson got this done so easily tells me it the eagles holding up a deal not rosenrosen....it think howies reluctance to sign pimp to a long term deal is the issue here
If it were me, I'd just let DeSean play under the tag this year anyway. It's a lousy market to try and trade him and a couple of WRs may well go in the top half of the 1st round. And not to mention who will replace him.
See where his heart and his head are really at. If he stays healthy and plays well then give him the good contract he deserves, maybe before the end of the season. I understand them not wanting to commit big money to him now. I don't know what their cap will look like next year though if they want to re-sign him and Shady.
yeah making someone play out a franchise tag is a brilliant way to see where their head and heart is at...that could be about the dumbest thing they could do
either you want him long term or you dont...andy does howie doesnt...well see who wins this power struggle...but whichever way it goes either lock him up or get rid of him
It's definitely Roseman holding this up. Rosenhaus can try and sell him till he's blue in the face that Desean is one of the top wideouts in the league, but all you have to do is watch the tape and look at the injury report. Defenses already have a beat on Jackson.
I actually think giving him the 1 year deal is the way to go because if Jackson wants any kind of security, big time money deal he better play his ass off this year. See if he really wants to be in Philly. If he doesnt play his ass off, hes right back in the same boat trying to score a middle of the road deal with another team. If that's the case (which I think will happen)-peace--have fun in Frisco.
very few players play their ass off on the franchise tag...many hold out which throws their season off from the jump and the ones who do play thru it def dont give their all as one injury could ruin their career and future earning potential...especially a player like pimp who has had the concussion and is tiny...you damn well be sure he isnt putting himself out there at all costs
the eagles fortunately have been very good about not having players play on the tag
which is why in the end everyone would be surprised if he actually plays out the tag as thay is not something either the team or pimp wants and is in the best interest of no one
You really think he's going to go 2 seasons in a row of the hold out bullshtein? I don't. He doesn't have a leg to stand on this time so he better play his ass off.
He was already quoted before the tag as saying he's perfectly fine with the tag. He was more pissed last season because he was playing for chump change. Now he's at 9+ million, he can invest in a car wash and play some ball with a diff mind set. Like I said, if he goes out there and half asses it, he kills his value even more.
of course hes gonna say hes fine with the tag in january...its all PR
lol at thinking if he doesnt give his all THIS year then hes really in trouble...he already took a season off and got rewarded with a franchise tag...but dont do it again or you are really in trouble!
the eagles dont wanna pay almost 10 mil to someone they may not get a full year of effort out of and pimp doesnt wanna play on another one year deal...however the franchise tag allows the eagles to not lose him for nothing....im not saying its impossible that it would happen but i would be very surprised if he either doesnt get a long term deal from the eagles or hes moved
again its something that neither sides wants and it will be avoided at all costs

Not when you consider Miami is going to need money to sign Reggie Wayne if they get Peyton. Plus Marshall is a classic locker room headache. As talented as he is, there's no way Peyton would tolerate that.
Dude is a serious beast on the field. But, I forget that superbowls are won in locker rooms. :boom
Wayne is going to be 34 yrs old this year-can barely separate as it is now. Marshall was Mannings only saving grace for that offense. I think this trade makes it even more clear that Manning is not going to Miami.

No doubt. They are the same player except VJack is taller.
Calvin Johnson is on another stratosphere than Desean.
i dont really see how they are the same player....one is tiny maybe the fastest guy in the nfl who opens the field up for everyone the other is huge and scores touchdowns by going up and getting balls
i was more saying that you can make an argument that those two are on the same level and deserve money that is in the same ball park....especially when you factor in vj's age and off the field troubles
I was speaking in terms of numbers-which ultimately is what separates you from the other elites in negotiating future contracts. Their numbers are the same and they are both boom or bust receivers.
Sure VJack is taller and goes up and gets balls but if you both have a history of not producing on a consistent basis what the hell is the difference.

The Browns just gave Dimitri Patterson some coin:
QuoteFlorio is reporting that the Browns have re-signed cornerback Dimitri Patterson to a three-year, $16 million contract.
The deal guarantees Patterson $6 million.
Patterson, 29 in June, operated as the Browns' nickel corner last season, covering the slot on passing downs. Joe Haden and Sheldon Brown were the outside cornerbacks, though Brown may move to safety this year depending on the team's acquisitions in the draft and rest of free agency.
Patterson finished last season with 28 tackles and 12 pass breakups. He had four interceptions as a nine-game starter in Philadelphia the year before.
Eh, good for him.

Oakland gave Wimbley the big contract last summer. He got paid $5 million in 2011 and is still guaranteed an additional $6.5 million from the Raiders. The team would have been on the hook for $4.5 million more in 2012 if Wimbley was on the roster Saturday, as well as an additional $13 million in guaranteed money for the rest
of the deal. Wimbley had seven sacks, 21.5 quarterback knockdowns and 9.5 hurries last season, according to STATS LLC.

Alex Smith visiting the Fins. I'm sure their fans will be thrilled.

Where ya see that?

Sarge confusing St Patricks day with April fools?
SF would be my guess though because they are probably the best set up to win a SB now, and I think that is Manning's first motivation and goal.

Miami's response is to talk with Alex Smith for 5 hours and then bring in David Garrard for a visit.

Reggie Nelson re-signed with the Bengals. I was hoping the Eagles would make a run at him, he's what they usually look for in a safety.
if someone signs with the bengals chances are they aint very good

They might as well be the same player. Inaccurate, awful mechanics, insufferable personalities, scrambling QB, somehow managed to win some NFL games in spite of their awfulness, inexplicably popular with fans. Same goddamned players.

Tebow sells tickets and jerseys.
There are a lot of fundies down there too.
There it is.
It almost makes too much sense. Not to mention that Tebow is from the Florida bible belt. It'll suck in 2 years though when they relocate to LA. Maybe he can bring religion to all of those Hollywood sinners and convert all the Jews making movies.
Or maybe his latent love of dong will lead him into the loving arms of topless Vince Young. Those iceholes were made for each other.
The topless Vince Young part sounds more like a fantasy of yours, rather than a crack at his latent love of dong.
I think you're jealous.
Was Young caught at some Austin club looking super homo without a shirt?
Regardless, yes.
tebow aint allowed to be gay and even if he is that shtein is getting repressed
The legion of Tebow worshippers are one misguided and frightening bunch. Have these iceholes seen him play? Do the enjoy the buckshot accuracy and 4/15 passing days?
They just signed arguably the greatest modern era QB and these idiots are actually ripping the Broncos.
I bet they will vote for Rick Santorum too.
Uh, they'll vote for Tebow dummy.

FUN FACT!
QuoteWard's retirement and Peyton Manning's move to Denver leave one member of the 1998 draft class still with the team that selected him. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Chicago Bears long-snapper Patrick Mannelly, picked in the sixth round in 1998, is the only player still with the team that drafted him from the Class of '98.

if hes out, even though brees is amazing, it aint gonna be the same. now lets say they stink it up this year and spags has to take the heat for it.
or he could come to philly and coach up a mediocre defense that just added a possible washed up 28 year old. tough call.
I hate to see what christmas is like at your houses. I'm sure santa gave you guys the middle finger years ago. Granted Ryans had an achilles injury years ago but stop shteinting on a good move. They gave up nothing for the possible re-birth of a real linebacker.

if this happened in the middle of a season i could maybe see them being in some sort of trouble...but breese is basically peyton manning as far as running the offense and pete carmichael has been there for six years
he will run the offense
spags will be the DC and defacto head coach

not saying losing payton doesnt hurt...but its certainly not some iceberg moment where the ship is going down and everyone wants out
Based on their track record...they couldn't have drafted a better linebacker...even with these injuries.
Off the subject, in a case where someone gets suspended a year without pay...let's say it was the 2nd year of a 3 year contract and the person was said to make X-millions....is that year completely lost or does it get pushed forward to the following season? (AP) GREAT FALLS, Mont. - Authorities say former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf has been arrested in his Montana hometown on burglary and drug possession charges.
Great Falls Police Sgt. Dean Bennett says Leaf was arrested Friday afternoon.
The circumstances surrounding Leaf's arrest are not immediately clear. Bennett says he hasn't seen a report detailing the allegations.
Cascade County Detention Center Officer Robert Rivera says Leaf was booked on charges of burglary of a residence, theft and felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
Leaf was freed on $76,000 bond and is scheduled to make an initial court appearance Monday.
The former San Diego Chargers first-round pick has had several past run-ins with the law. In 2010, he pleaded guilty in Amarillo, Texas, to various drug charges and was sentenced to 10 years' probation and fined $20,000.

BUSTED
JaMarcus Russell was bad, but who tops our list of the biggest draft bust in NFL history?
Leaf was first arrested on Friday after police found oxycodone pills in his golf bag that an acquaintance later said Leaf stole from his home. Then early Monday, three days after posting a $76,000 bond, he was arrested again, Central Montana Drug Task Force Commander Chris Hickman said.
''It's based on a burglary that happened yesterday afternoon after he bailed out,'' Hickman said.
Leaf was scheduled to make an initial court appearance in Great Falls on Monday afternoon on two felony counts of burglary, two felony counts of criminal possession of a dangerous drug, two misdemeanor counts of theft and a probation violation.
Bond has been set at $101,000 for the burglary, theft and drug charges, but the probation violation charge does not carry a bond so Leaf cannot be released from jail, Hickman said.
A call to Leaf's publicist was not immediately returned Monday.

Williams really likes head
The audio seems pretty tame in the beginning. Then he starts naming individual players and targeting specific parts of their bodies. Gore has had concussion issues, Davis has had ankle injuries. I don't think Crabtree has had any knee problems but he still specifically mentions taking out his ACL. I'd honestly be surprised if Payton gets a reduction in his suspension and Williams is probably not going to be back any less than 3 years from now...if ever.

Future NFL Hall-of-Famer Warren Sapp has filed for bankruptcy ... claiming he's racked up millions of dollars in debts ... but worst of all, dude claims he LOST his 2002 Super Bowl ring.Sapp -- who played in the NFL for 12 years -- just filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy in Florida ... and in the papers he gives a full rundown of his dire financial situation. According to the docs, Sapp owes more than $6.7 million to various creditors ... including hundreds of thousands of dollars in child support payments and alimony to at least 4 different baby mamas. Among the debts, Sapp says he owes $853k to the IRS for 2006 and another $89k for 2010. Sapp says he also owes $2,858 in medical bills for "Corrective Speech and Language Therapy."Sapp says he only has $6.45 million to his name ... and lists all of his assets in the documents ... which include: -- 240 pairs of Jordan sneakers and sandals-- Large Nude women painting-- Lion skin rug (female - lioness) -- Nike golf clubs-- De Grisogono watch (scratch on crystal, nicks and scratches on band)-- A boxing glove signed by Muhammad AliBut most interestingly, Sapp notes he has LOST two of his most treasured and valuable possessions -- the 2002 Super Bowl ring he won with the Tampa Bay Bucs (example below) and the 1999 National Championship ring he won with the Miami Hurricanes. In the docs, Sapp also lists his current salary as an analyst for the NFL Network as $45k per month ... $540k per year. Sapp says his deal with the NFL Network expires in August and he's not sure if the network will extend his deal. Calls to Sapp have not been returned.[\quote]

QuoteThe NFL announced Monday that the punishment levied by commissioner Roger Goodell would stand for head coach Sean Payton, general manager Mickey Loomis and assistant head coach/linebackers Joe Vitt.
Payton's suspension will begin on April 16 and he will be forced to miss the entire 2012 season. The suspensions of Loomis (eight games) and Vitt (six) will begin at the end of the preseason.
I've always been a fan of NFL films and Steve Sabol. Article here by Domo on how the garbage NFL Network has gutted it.

QuoteThe NFL never cared whether Films made money. But when Bornstein and Katz arrived, it suddenly started caring how much it was losing. Katz wouldn't say how much that was, but according to another league executive with knowledge of Films' finances, it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $20 million a year.
Oh, man. How can anything survive that kind of bleeding on a mere $9 billion a year?
QuoteAdam Schefter
Bengals close to a deal with former Cowboys CB Terrance Newman and also exploring a a trade that would send LB Keith Rivers to Giants.
man i loved rivers coming out...hes been a disappointment mostly due to injuries but is still only 26 and i think would be a great fit with all those other guys on their front seven...provided his wrist is ok
Same and I would definitely take a chance on Rivers. If Meco is the only LB upgrade then they still haven't addressed the issue as far as I'm concerned. I'll hold off on my opinion until after the draft but I can't see them selecting a LB with one of their first 3 picks and their history of selecting LBs is awful.

if Ryans can play at pre-injury level, then I'm actually okay with the other two assumed starters. They played okay last year, and I think they can be okay playing next to a real LB. If he's not at pre-injury level, then yeah I'd like another upgrade please.
Even if Ryan plays in pre-injury form the other two LBs are still a liability. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with Chaney/Matthews/Rolle [in nickel] as backups and on STs, but they're not every down LBs. I was actually semi encouraged from what I saw from Matthews at the end of last season. My guess is SAM Chaney MIKE Meco WIL Matthews...Rolle in Nickel situations. Is that really a big upgrade? I'd say no, you're putting a guy you hope is healthy in the middle and still have the other scrubs out there. They need at least one more talented LB to be the every down starter
Even though he's about as tall as me I would hope they'd start rolle over mathews, dude played better all around then whitey last year
Rivers to the Giants is all but done. Bengals are only getting a 5th in return. I would have shipped a 5th to them in a heartbeat for Rivers. He's still only 25 years old.

QuoteSapp says his choice was bankruptcy or jail
In his first public comments regarding a recent bankruptcy filing sparked by $6.7 million in reported debt, former NFL defensive lineman Warren Sapp says that he had two options.
"Do you think I wanted to declare bankruptcy?" Sapp tells Gary Shelton of the Tampa Bay Times. "Do you think if there was any other way possible I would have done it? It was either this or go to jail. Those were my choices."

QuoteWhether he's apologizing for lending his jersey to a porn star or dancing shirtless hours after losing the Super Bowl, Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has a tendency to make eyebrow-raising public appearances. And now we have another.
In an appearance at the University of Rhode Island on Thursday night, Gronkowski agreed to play the oh-so-hilarious "F, marry, kill" game. His choices were Betty White, Rex Ryan and Tim Tebow.
"I would 'F' Tebow, to take his virginity," Gronkowski said.
Thus followed
QuoteAccording to Hayes Carlyon of the St. Augustine Record, a woman bid $100,000 to spend a day with Tebow. The money will help fund his foundation's charitable works.
"It was incredible," Tebow said. "It's humbling. You don't feel worthy, but when people care about your cause and know that you're trying to do something for other people it's amazing to see what can happen."
Tebow also should be glad that Rob Gronkowski didn't show up with $100,001.
Seriously, somebody would spend $100k to spend a day with him? How many people even have that kind of jack to spend, other than maybe Donovan for throwing accuracy lessons?
Lotta man love for the Gronk.
Can anyone explain why the Saints named a guy who is also suspended (albeit only for 6 games, not for the whole season) interim head coach? Wouldn't it have been wise to name someone who, you know, is actually available for the entire season?
So who is the interim interim head coach for the first 6 games?
Congratulations, it's you.

I know at this point stuff about McNabb is beating a dead horses ass, but sometimes the fire that ensues after the train wreck is just as funny.
QuoteDonovan McNabb's career may be over, as he hasn't drawn any interest from any teams since the Vikings released him late last year. If his career is over, McNabb believes he belongs in the Pro Football Hall of Fame's class of 2017.
McNabb said on the online interview show Barfly that he thinks there's no question that he should be in the Hall of Fame.
"Absolutely," McNabb said. "See, one thing that people don't realize — I never played the game to make it to the Hall of Fame. I played the game because I love it. I played the game to win. I'm a competitor. When I step out on the field, I feel like I'm the best player on the field. Even these last two years, when people may look at it and say, 'Oh, he's done, or whatever.' I'm 34, 35 years old but still, I played at the pinnacle, I played at the highest level of my career. I played there. And I would vote for myself for the Hall of Fame."
and who said he wouldn't make a good analyst?
Quote"Peyton never won the big game until he won the Super Bowl finally. Dan Marino never won the big game. But does that mean his career is a failure? No. Not at all,"
He may have to wait until Bledsoe, Kerry Collins, Testaverde, and Dave Krieg get in first.

QuoteNEW ORLEANS -- The U.S. Attorney's Office in the Eastern District of Louisiana was told Friday that New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis had an electronic device in his Superdome suite that had been secretly re-wired to enable him to eavesdrop on visiting coaching staffs for nearly three NFL seasons, "Outside the Lines" has learned.
Sources familiar with Saints game-day operations told "Outside the Lines" that Loomis, who faces an eight-game suspension from the NFL for his role in the recent bounty scandal, had the ability to secretly listen for most of the 2002 season, his first as general manager of the Saints, and all of the 2003 and 2004 seasons. The sources spoke with "Outside the Lines" under the condition of anonymity because of fear of reprisals from members of the Saints organization.
Jim Letten, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana, acknowledged being told of the allegations Friday. Sources said he has briefed the FBI in New Orleans about Loomis' alleged activity. If proved, the allegations could be both a violation of NFL rules and potentially a federal crime, according to legal sources. The federal Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) of 1986 prohibits any person from intercepting communications from another person using an electronic or mechanical device.
if this has legs, it is way bigger than Patriots spygate. Apparently they had the ability to listen in on OC and DCs during games.
QuoteThe sources said when Loomis took his seat during home games, then in the front row of box No. 4 in the 300 level of the Superdome's north side, he was able to plug an earpiece into a jack that was under the desk in front of him. The earpiece was not unlike those used to listen to inexpensive transistor radios, the sources said. With the earpiece in place, Loomis could then toggle back and forth with a switch that he controlled, enabling him to listen to the game-day communications of either the opposing offensive or defensive coaches.
Also underneath the desk in front of Loomis, said the sources, was a metal box that contained two belt packs similar to those worn around the waists of NFL head coaches during games. The packs powered the listening device available to Loomis, which was, according to sources, hard-wired to the audio feed of the opposing coaches.
No wonder Benson has been standing squarely behind his guys. They could bring that organization down with them or not.

I'm listening to Cowherd on the radio this morning and he brings on Romanowski to talk about Seau. One of the first questions asked was along the lines of "At any point in your playing days, did you ever take into consideration the possible effects that the game might have on your long term health?" Romo comes back and says that it was one of the first things he thought about after he got drafted and that he wanted to make sure he did everything possible to protect his body and leave the league in good health.
I assume it was shortly after this that he started doing roids because they're so good for you.

I'm not an avid listener because his voice is awful and hard to listen to, but I'd say I catch maybe 30-45 min a week. Technically, you can make that statement about any and every on air personality in radio and television, especially when it comes to sports and politics. But when he comes out and says something that I initially might think is crazy, he supports his theory with some pretty outside the box reasoning that if I take a minute to digest, I often times and up agreeing with him.
And I don't really think he's much like Eskin at all.....except that sometimes I've heard him call his listeners "booger eaters" if they call in and sound like morons.
If I could stomach his voice in larger doses, I'd probably listen more. He's quirky and I kind of dig it. But farg, sometimes he gets his voice all high pitchy and I change the channel because I don't want my windsheild to crack.
there is no arguing this...everything you said is completely wrong.

Somewhat but I think they will be limited. Reid really likes his backs to be able to pick up blitzes, catch, chip occasionally and those things take time to get down. Addai was good at that and I thought he'd be a good addition but I couldn't see him wanting to come to Philly for 4 touches a game.

What you don't understand is you don't get record breaking record breaking deals every year. You only get record breaking deals every year. Once in a while, you get the record breaking record breaking deal. It's just how it works.

If he had played all 1056 snaps on defense last year and kept up that pace, he would have had 396 tackles and 198 sacks. There was such promise with young Neild.

Just half way decent bloggers that use it will have the ability to blow away a lot of the talking heads and analysts that are lazy and don't. Best innovation in a long time and will elevate the average fan's understanding of the game if they want to learn.

Primary evidence against Jonathan Vilma is signed affidavit by GREGG WILLIAMS... and it was signed on Friday.
After one week of peace, the Jets QB controversy is back:
Quote from: ESPNFLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Six months after the trade that brought him Tim Tebow and countless questions about the Wildcat, New York Jets coach Rex Ryan displayed his first signs of Tebow fatigue Monday when grilled about the quarterback's lack of involvement in Sunday's 27-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"We always said from Day 1, we can do it 20 times, 40 times, 10 times, two times, whatever," Ryan said of the Wildcat, taking a bit of a defensive tone. "We determine that, OK?"
Tebow didn't take an offensive snap until the 8:39 mark of the third quarter.
He immediately broke out for a 22-yard run but was pulled after three plays as the Jets faced a second-and-16. A struggling Mark Sanchez was sent back into the game and promptly threw two straight incompletions.

QuoteThe Minnesota Vikings punter who penned a controversial letter to a Maryland legislator in defense of same-sex marriage has now challenged another lawmaker to a similarly-themed debate.
Chris Kluwe tells City Pages that he's been in talks with Minnesotans for Equality, a Minnesota-based LGBT rights advocacy group urging voters to beat back the state's ballot initiative that would ban marriage for gays and lesbians in the state constitution, about organizing a debate between him and Minnesota Rep. Mary Franson.
"We're thinking of actually extending her an official invitation to see if she wants to do a debate," Kluwe told the publication. Still, he remained skeptical over whether or not Franson, who has claimed to be "under attack by those who oppose traditional marriage," would accept.
"I don't think she will," he added.
Franson, a Republican, generated headlines after she reportedly declared, "My concerns are that our children in our schools could be taught some liberal agendas because of the marriage amendment. Because in the schools they may be taught...that [same-sex marriage] is normal behavior. I personally do not believe it is."
Last week, Kluwe defended his obscenity-laced letter to Maryland Delegate C. Emmett Burns in an interview with HuffPost Gay Voices Editor-at-Large Michelangelo Signorile, calling same-sex marriage "a human rights issue."

QuoteSuh is accused of sideswiping a car, leaving scene of accident
Posted by Mike Florio on October 11, 2012, 7:56 PM EDT
On the same day Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was featured on this page in response to allegations that he's not showing enough fight on the field, he's showing too much fight off it.
Allegedly.
According to FOX 2 in Detroit, Steve Vines claims that Suh sideswiped Vines' car, left the scene of the accident, and then yelled at Vines at a stoplight.
Vines says he called Dearborn, Michigan police, who told him to go to the team's practice facility and wait for them to arrive. So that's what Vines did.
"That's when [Suh] said, 'I advise you to leave, now,'" Vines said. "And I said, 'I'm not going anywhere. I talked to the police.' [He said], 'I don't care what they said. You need to get out of here.' And then he said, 'I'm advising you to leave, now.'"
Police reportedly are investigating.
It's the second time in less than a year that Suh has been involved in a traffic incident. He's currently facing a lawsuit for injuries allegedly suffered by a passenger when Suh wrecked a car in his hometown of Portland, Oregon, during a two-game suspension for stomping on Packers guard Evan Dietrich-Smith.

As starters?
Patriots
Colts
Chiefs - Warren Moon
Chargers
49ers (unless their Kapiernik is... don't know)
Cardinals - Shaun King
Packers
Bears - Kordell Stewart, Vince Evans
Giants
I'm sure I'm forgetting some people along the way, but those are what I came up with.
Troy Smith was the 49ers starter before the whiter Smith took over.
The Broncos actually started a black guy (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200312280gnb.htm), at least for a few minutes until He Flag Me intercepted him.
That leaves us with just the four teams with long histories of pasty statuesque white QBs: Patriots, Colts, Packers, Giants
Packers will be the last holdout, book it.

This all has more to do with the organization's culture than the culture of the area the team plays in. The teams with the whiter QBs even change their uniforms less often. The Giants are old school.
The closest place culturally to GB is Minnesota and they've had probably more black QBs than any other team.
You can chalk that up to their proximity to Prince.

dwyer sold out so hard on that play
you had to challenege that because you arent challenging for a first down you are challenging the spot so even if they move the ball forward two inches but not for a first down you still dont lose your time out
bottom line tho is if dwyer runs hard stright forward instead of pulling up they get it
al michaels is an idiot
you can win the challenge and still not get a first down....him and collingsworth are focusing 100% on the "yellow line"

thats completely false....they arent challenging a first down call they are challenging the spot of the ball....for example maybe if its fourth and inches they go or it but if its fourth and a yard and a half they punt.....it had nothing to do with a first down...it was the location of the ball in general
then why did the ref wait until it was a first down to say they wouldnt be charged a TO
he started by saying they would move the ball...then they measure...they when its good enough for a first they say its no TO since they won the challenge
the challenge was for a first down, not for an extra quarter yard
you dont challenge for a first down...you challenge where the ball should be placed and if the refs spotted it incorrectly then you win....thats why before they went to the hood they said "pittsbugh is challenging the spot of the ball".....they didnt say pittsburgh is challenging whether it was a first down or not.....you can make a ball spot challenge anytime even if a first down isnt involved...
i understand what youre saying but if it wasnt a first down they would have lost that TO

no they wouldnt have....you dont throw the red flag and say thats a first down....you throw the red flag and say you put the ball in the wrong place....now go and look where it should be....maybe it should be moved ahead of the first down marker or maybe it should be moved one inch short of it but please look and see where the ball should end up...and if it is determined that it is to be placed somewhere forward of where it was orginally spotted then you win the challenge

This was my interpretation of the rule also, but apparently that's incorrect. I forget what game I was watching (non-Eagles game within the last month) and the same situation played out. Coach challenged the spot as it was marked just short of a 1st down.....like a foot. Refs reviewed the play and the commentators were talking about how even if the ball is moved forward, if it didn't go far enough for a 1st down then the coach would still lose the challenge. The ball was moved forward but not far enough for a 1st and the coach lost his challenge. Doesn't make any sense at all, but for whatever reason that seems to be the rule.
no one challenges for an inch, its not that black and white where its like they spotted the ball one centimeter incorrectly now let me throw the flag. otherwise you could challenge, and win, every single spot.

if thats true it could be the dumbest rule ever...in other words the refs can be wrong but you still get charged a timeout...when it comes to first downs every inch matters even if you dont get it
I believe that technically you cannot really challenge the spot of the ball. You can only challenge whether a first down or touchdown has been achieved or not. [And now of course the touchdown issue has been moved to booth review.]
As a separate issue, the refs reserve the right to put the ball wherever they think it should be. So if they think it should be moved forward a foot and not get a first down, they can do that, but it doesn't impact whether you won the challenge or not.
spots are so arbitrary and are generally judgement calls...like PI or holding or something like that.
the rule as it is is fine.

they arent like PI or holding because you cant challenge those calls....if you wanna make it so that spots arent challengable then fine....but if you are allowed to challenege where the ball is placed on a particular play and if your challenge shows that the refs were wrong then you shouldnt be penalized...its silly
The spot of the ball can't be challenged. The coaches' challenge is to the spot of the ball in relation to a first down. Since the refs are fair, they'll move the ball if they got the initial spot wrong, but if the new placement doesn't garner a first down (nose of the ball is beyond the necessary line), the challenge is unsuccessful.

Peter King of SI.com and NBC's Football Night in America reports that the Competition Committee currently plans to consider eliminating all blocks below the waist. The Raiders will be releasing Rolando McClain today. Taken 5 picks ahead of Graham two years ago and was supposed to be a stud LB in the NFL, so I dunno if playing in zesty Oakland got to him or what
He's been garbage on and off the field. McClain's only chance to turn around his career is for him to end up somewhere with good coaches who can have a crack at resurrecting the ability he had in college. If he ends up on a team that fits that description I think he still has more of a career than Brandon Graham.
He ended up not being released (yet).
So he will end up in New England, SF or NYG

QuoteMonte Kiffin will return to the NFL

If Lane Kiffin is going to survive at USC, he'll have to do it without the help of his father.
The school has announced via Twitter that Monte Kiffin will be leaving the Trojans after the team's bowl game to pursue opportunities in the NFL.
Previously, the elder Kiffin's name had been floated as a possible candidate for a consulting job in Seattle, given his connection to Seahawks coach Pete Carroll.
But we're more intrigued by the possibility that Kiffin could be reunited Jon Gruden. With Kiffin running the defense and Gruden running the offense, the Bucs won a Super Bowl 10 years ago. Kiffin then remained with Gruden for six more years, even though Gruden had inherited Kiffin from Tony Dungy's staff.
Kiffin, 72, may not want to be a defensive coordinator at the NFL level again. But the man who spent 25 seasons as an NFL assistant coach definitely brings something to the table.
i cant believe they attempted that...super gutsy and it pays off

QuoteFree-agent quarterback Vince Young, meanwhile, sees the Cardinals' woeful situation at the position as an opportunity. He sent a tweet to Fitzgerald on Sunday asking the receiver to put in a good word for him.
"You know I can help tell coach," he wrote in the tweet to Fitzgerald.
lol @ this dude taking to twitter to try and find a farging job. Guess he never heard of LinkedIn.
all bountygate suspensions overturned
Was I alone in having filed this bounty gate scandal under the 'who cares?' category?
And I guess nothing changes for the coaches?
correct....this was an appeal from the players only
also the coaches admitted doing it....they have no recourse
The coaches paid the players to bountasize some motherfargers, but the players didn't get paid...that's weird.
the 2007 draft was pretty sick the top 15 picks included the following
megatron
AP
joe thomas
patrick willis
darrell revis
marshawn lynch
btw the raiders took jamarcus russell
rex ryan is tryin to get fired
said tonight that tebow might play in punt protection this week
He's angling for that coveted Philadelphia Eagles Defensive Coordinator job so that he might regain his father's love and people will forget about his foot fetish. None of those things will happen.
he could have a post pick up basketball game taint fetish and id still take him as the birds DC next year
hes a coordinator fo life and a damn good one
the problem is mel tucker is the next coach of the birds and him and rex will but heads like you cant believe
rex needs to run a defense with an offensive head coach
classic autum wind

Lomas Brown admitted he intentionally whiffed on a block back in '94 so his guy would have a clean shot on Scott Mitchell with hopes he would get injured and knocked out. He was and did.
Mildly startling someone would admit that
Got his own teammate injured.
Classy.
i wish someone did that to andy reid
Desean Jackson tried, but he just bounced off of him.
Payton signs 5 year deal with Saints. Sorry Dallas fans who were delusional enough to think he'd work under Jerruh.
at least they had a possibility or hope....hed coach for a dallas high school team before he ever went to philly
I have to say though, if I had to work under either Jerruh or Howie with them making the final decisions on personnel, and I wasn't allowed to kill myself or them, I'd have to chose Howie. But I think there was zero chance of Payton going to dallas and yes, less of a chance for Philly.
are you kidding?....other than eagle fans no one on the planet is picking that pos shtein over jerry jones...jerry jones knows more about football....pays way more and you get to potentially be the man that brings dallas back to the promised land
if you said lurie vs jerry it would still be wrong but wouldnt be as laughable...howie farging roseman over jerry jones is preposterous
most people would rather work with fidel castro than roseman
roseman is the worst and there aint no 2nd
if all day isnt on roids then no one has ever done them
in your wanna-be ghetto vernacular...who the farg is "all day"?
Adrian Peterson?
Mike Tannenbaum out as Jets GM, Rex is staying.
Shurmur out as Browns Coach, Heckert gone as GM.
Crennell out as Chiefs Coach, Pioli is staying on as GM for now.

Yes
Hey cool, I understand yo-boy!
Lovie Smith fired.
how did cam newton throw for zero touchdowns and one interception and carolina score 44 pts
haha... i was looking at the box scores today and thought the same thing.
the saints might have the worst defense in the history of football. deangelo williams put up two bills on them, for god's sake.
Buffalo fired Chan Gailey
Devin Hester says he's considering retiring because Lovie was canned. Get!
Who needs him...the Eagles have Pimp! He's got talent!
and he can return punts!
I'd take Hester over Pimp, higher character guy.
30 years old. 23 receptions. Oh yeah, sign the shtein out of that guy.
Chicago might be going after Packers OC Tom Clements
Ray Lewis is retiring after the playoffs
Yeah, supposedly he's got a gig waiting for him at ESPN too. With that crew they will give the dopes on NFLN a run.
Ray Ray could do anything he wants in this town. They worship the guy here.
i worship him...one of my all time favorite non eagles
and hes gonna be fab as an analyst

hes way bigger and better than po dunk baltimore....he will be national
lol igy said fab
everyone wants him....basically his call where he winds up
cbs will give him a spot on the pregame, espn will probably let him do studio shtein and announce cfb games. whatever he wants. just cant murder anyone again.
As long as he cleans up after. Wash those hands and he's all good.
He will be an awesome guy to have on set. Marino seems asleep half the time and Sharpe's a big mouth. Lewis would be a very welcome addition.
do people actually watch any pre game show other than espn?
if ray ray doesnt go the the leader i wont watch him
espn is the worst pregame show by far
definitely need two hours for berman to run through his schtick for the TJ, Keyshawn and CC to yuck it up and back pat.
When I actually have time to watch football, it does not include time to watch pre- or post- game jock talk. They all suck.

its better than all the others put together
^^ this could be true AND it still sucks, because they are all terrible
it doesn't get more MA than NFL pre-game
yeah im not saying its incredible like nfl matchup or some shtein...but i enjoy it and its the only watchable one
bunch of goddamn idiot jocks laughing at nothing, bro-punching each other, and generally displaying more physical affection for another man than should be legal to televise
nuke them all
FOX
NFLN
CBS
ESPN
No disputing.
I actually find CBS to be the least obnoxious. I still don't watch it on purpose, and I still change the channel, but I don't do it angrily.
andy about to sign with the chiefs
his list must only include teams that play in philly next year
And he'll win that game by running the ball 50 times to twist the knife, but the joke's on him because nobody is expecting anything from the Eagles next season.
The Cards received permission from the Steelers to talk to Todd Haley about coming back
ben signed the slip

Agreed 100%, but igy is dead on that NFL Matchup is a great show.
andy to kc looks done
and he might bring elder monte kiffin with him
cleveland plain dealer saying cleveland scored the first interview with obrien earlier this week
And now some saying he's just gonna flip the NFL interest into a big raise at PSU.
He once got into a sideline screaming match with Brady when he threw an awful INT at Washington so he's got some fire to him

welp this explains his lovefest for Sanchez
saw that earlier...farging creepy
That's his wife, and she's barefoot.
AMIRITE?
wow...that's bad.
its gonna be painful watching this game today and seeing my man perfect....why couldnt the eagles have just spent a 6th or 7th rounder on him.....whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
The Bears are interviewing the head coach of the Montreal Alouettes, Marc Trestman. Lurie's gotta be kicking himself for not being the first to make this "smartest guys in the room" move.
Trestman does have a couple decades of NFL coaching experience, including being the OC of the Raiders Super Bowl team in 2002.

they would have moved him to offensive guard anyway.
no big loss.
How's he looking now?
Not Perfect?
one of the best linebackers in the nfl?

So when the pope dies I assume Ray Lewis will be the next one?
Good god the crowning of him is ridiculous.

Why was Ray on the field for the last kneel down? He'd fit in on this board...farging drama queen.
best linebacker of all time is why

It wasn't the Super Bowl.
No, but it was his last home game no matter what happens so they let him get all WWF at the end. Yay you Ray Ray.
The new Browns head coach is Rob Chudzinski (Panthers OC).
He was the Browns OC in 2007-2008 when Derek Anderson looked like a real QB. Odd hire since his name was never mentioned anywhere
