Eagles | Stallworth out
Sun, 24 Sep 2006 12:22:01 -0700
Philadelphia Eagles WR Donte' Stallworth (hip) has been declared inactive for Week 3.
WTF?
DONT TELL ME WE ARE GOING TO LOSE TODAY :(
Wow that sucks!
fargIN GREAT
I still don't think the Birds will lose. IMHO if they lose today you can kiss the playoffs goodbye.

Correct. I don't care if everyone but McNabb's injured. No matter how close it is, they should still win today.
PE.com: "Wide receiver Donte Stallworth is inactive for Sunday's game against San Francisco because of a hamstring spasm he suffered Friday in practice."
didnt reid say he was fine on friday? wtf man this is scaring me. san fran is a much improved team.
hood is playing right? we need our D to play huge and avant needs to step up.
No Stallworth? May as well just keep watchin' the Phillies game. :-\
this could be a big day for reggie brown. i'd much rather see a two headed monster run game from Buck and Westy. curious to see how well our d-line does this week. is McDougle playing?
You guys are acting like a friggin bunch of nancy boys, Oh my god they are going to lose. Shut up!
Is it really official is official isnt spelled correctly?
they should activate moats and run all 3 all day long.
I can't get the game. I'll be in my new house in a month or two, then it's Sunday Ticket like a motherfarger. Bummer about Stallworth. I suppose everyone forgot about Backett Hysteria? Bunch of panicky bitches. :P
Hood's playing.

We have a winner.
Also, this is great news for SF. No doubt.
Regardless of injury, if the Eagles lose this game they do not deserve to go to the playoffs.
hmm i have to take a poop but i will hold it in. the coverage is on that tvu player! sweet i get to see the game!

oh sorrry guys im watching on that player...TVU player posted in the thread about whos getting the game. its about 3 min behind.

The pitch back on that flea flicker was a little high. Cut Buck.
Dhani made a tackle and didn't do his little guitar strum. He means business today.
and giants down 7. good.
A stop on the opening drive! Everybody get drunk!
You know, Trent Cole has made a few good plays against the run. He's credited with stopping Gore in Gamecenter.
The Eagles need to get their injury reports right. Stallworth out, Hood playing? What the hell is going on?
mahe is back.
:-\
Was the 50 yard completion the flea flicker? I hate not being able to watch the game. But watching the Giants getting whipped is great. False start Giants. :-D
To answer your question, GF, it's at least 1-1.5 plays behind. It's pretty ridiculous.
Course, I'm listening because the farging dish won't receive ONE OF THE fargING SUNDAY TICKET CHANNELS!
Care to guess which one?
Somebody's getting a letter bomb over this.
Buckhalter did not pick up a first down after being hit in the backfield. He only picked up 4 yards. Boo!
Another pass on a short yardage play. I'm glad we have Tapeh. Really I am.
A pass on 3rd and 2? Who woulda thunk it?
Andy's still throwing on 3rd and short, dumb shtein. :boom

Technically it was 3rd and 3, so... :boom
Eli's sacked after the Giants false started on 3rd and 1.
a draw would have been nice...but oh well. time for a INT. cmon D.
Good pressure on the rollout.
Trotter's arguing again. Can't we get rid of this headcase already?
ESPN's baseball gamecast is WAY better than their football one. This one sucks in comparison. On the baseball one they actually show the ball animation being pitched and when it's in play.
What's he agruing about? Money? :D

Uh, duuuuuuuuh.
Westbrook with 9 up the middle. Great push by the line.
Westbrook stops for the low pass behind him, catches it, and picks up a couple more before he's tackled.
Baldinger's breath smells like Westbrook's naughtyparts.
Buck only picks up 2 on 2nd and 3 with poor blocking in front of him. Why is he still on the team?
SNEAK!
McNabb trips for a first down.
Reggie wide open again, and can't get into the endzone. Tapeh with a great block.
Was that a Sassy sighting?
Westy down to the 1.

Watch that illegal Chinese broadcast mentioned on the "who gets the game" thread. It's working great for me.
Cry me a river.
That "correction" penalty call just killed the crowd.
u know as part of the hysteria i drafted hank in one of the leagues im in. it would be nice if he scores a TD.
Another 3 and out for the mighty 49ers.

Manning picked off... Seattle's on the Giants 3.
Bill Gates couldnt buy us a first down :'(
Westbrook picks up 6 or 7 on a play that should have been stopped for 2 on a swing pass.
Brandon Short flops more than Vlade Divac. ha
Delay of game, McNabb took too long audibling.
Hey, a game break... and they show the LJ TD catch. Nice.
Crowd goes nuts thinking it's a sack, McNabb hits Westbrook for a dumpoff and a big gain. :yay
Well, Westbrook looks ok on the Gamecenter at least.
I'd love to know how the Eagles rank in delay of game penaltys.
McNabb audibles and Westbrook moves to FB in the I. Ugh.
That time McNabb got sacked. 9 yard loss.
Ok, stop calling all passes all the time... good grief.
Reggie with another clutch catch. First down on 3rd and 19.
They did bring the running backs today right?
Another 14 second scramble, and McNabb hits Reggie out of bounds for what would have been a first down.
15 yard penalty on that scramble.

Did Darwin just get dragged 5 yards by Alex Smith? :-D
Smith takes off, and Dawkins can only keep pace with him as he runs for a first down and more.
Roderick fights to get the TE out of bounds on the sideline.

71 yard TD run for Westy. I heart him long time.

antonio bryant = cancer
McNabb floats one up for Reggie, Reggie can't find it and falls down.
For those that were watching the Phillies, the game just restarted and Burrell homered :-D

No excuses to come out cold in the second half. Less than 40 points in unacceptable after last week.
I know I'm going to call WIP if they only get 39 this week.
Get in line!
When's the last time the Eagles put up over 40? Chiefs game?
Great 1st half.
49ers are bad. the offense has potential, but alex smith needs to be more consistent. Defense is horrible.
Eagles, pretty much cookie cutter of last week. Offense is unstoppable. Defense, D-line looks Okay, not as good as last week. They need to get some pressure on Alex Smith in 2nd half.
Things I want to see in 2nd half:
I want them to come out aggressive on both sides. Offense needs to score some more points here. Score 2 more TD's and then manage the clock. Run the ball Reid. Defense needs to get to Alex Smith. Frank Gore got nothing so far, and prob won't see too many handoffs playing behind right now. Consistency, long, time consuming drives. Run it out Reid.
Well, not having Stallworth has really killed us.
Brian " Violent Stiff Arm " Westbrook
Gore, who got nuffin, just picked up 9 yards up the middle.

Gore might have 3 decent runs this game. other than those, the run game is not working for San Fran.

27 passes opposed to 11 runs?
One of them was a 71 yard td run by Westbrook.
Vernon Davis carted off.
Trent Cole just scared the man outta Vernon Davis. Trent grabbed him and I think VD started to cry and just fell over like a bitch.

Aaaand the defense is right back on the 1 yard line.
Smith stuffed on the sneak.
Defense looks good, not great. 4 goaline stops in a row.
Smith throws it away on the rollout.

Buck picks up a mighty 2 yards on 2nd and 16.
Timeout called. Westbrook is back on the field, and Dawkins officially had his bell rung.
McNabb sacked at the 1.
THIS is looking too familiar.
McNabb sacked at the ONE. :boom :boom :boom :boom :boom

Cool, another wasted timeout. Maybe someone can tell the offense during the timeout that they get paid for two halves of football.

DMac blasted.
Good call.... :boom :boom :boom
Less than half a field for the 9ers to work with, and a worn-out defense. This should be good.

Robinson very nearly walked in on that run. McCoy is down. Defense is exhausted.
:boo
The offense farging sucks. Stay on the farging field, god damn.
we can only pray for a downfall from the 49ers offense at this point...
andy reid proves again he can't manage a game. his players are making bone-headed penalties. the defense is huffing and puffing

Doesn't look like Dawkins is coming back anytime soon. He's got his hat on.
Three straight SF drives down inside the 10. The defense has nothing left in the tank. The Birds need to get Westbrook out there running some time off, and need to at least move the chains a couple times, or it could be last week all over again.
The only surprising thing is the offense can't get a farging first down AGAIN! Call some good plays for a change Reid.

Easy to do when the 9ers start on Philly's side of the field each drive.
By the way, ZERO sacks so far.
So, yes, in my opinion they are missing Kearse.
Now we can see if the team will actually finish the game this week... They need to start soon though.

Smith has been sacked once this season. He's pretty good at getting away from the rush, but they're not getting great pressure on him.
*sigh*
Come on Reid...its your call, its your team
Smith's very mobile. He's hard to sack. Plus he has a quick release when pressure gets close.
Dawkins told Reid he's ready to go back in. He'll probably be back too soon.
If the offense goes out there and goes three and out on all passes, my head will explode.
C'mon Offense, do SOMETHING this time!
Wynn downs the kickoff. Here comes Andy's next innovative 3 and out.
Baskett lets one go through his ... legs.
And he's still throwing the farging ball. C'mon, this is farging nuts.
Westbrook picks up 6. This should make for an easily missed 3rd and short pass.
Reggie with a 5 yard catch.

Post game thoughts:
- McNabb comes out and looks great. Is having an MVP type season. The whole offense just clicked for pretty much the whole game. A little cold spell in the 3rd that needs to be worked on, but not a huge deal.
- Westbrook was great as well.
- The defensive line picks up right where they left off with Kearse. Constant pressure all day, tons of QB hits. Gotta give Alex Smith credit though. If it weren't for his mobility we would've had like 10 sacks today.
- LBs played very well again. McCoy is just having a great season. Trotter played well too.
- Dawk. What a game. What a player.
- Michael Lewis managed to keep his mistakes down.
- Very good special teams coverage and great shutting down Gore.
- Back to offense, the offensive line could've protected McNabb a little bit more, but they blitzed a lot so not a huge concern. Much better run blocking today.
One other thing---Smith looks much better and his OL was very good. So he had protection and his mobility helped him.
The 49ers arejn't as bad as they were last year. But hey, let's cry because they didn't win by enough!!

- McNabb comes out and looks great. Is having an MVP type season. The whole offense just clicked for pretty much the whole game. A little cold spell in the 3rd that needs to be worked on, but not a huge deal.
You are the stupidest person I have ever seen.
OMG DIDN'T SCORE IN THE 3RD QUARTER, WR ARE D00MED!!111!
Kenny Albert and Brian Baldinger suck. Albert has no talent, often he just sits there and silence and then chimes in with a few words in his monotone voice. Baldinger is reaching the annoying level of Joe Theisman. Who, by the way, I am not looking foward to listning verbally fellate Brett Favre next monday.
-5 yards, retard. That's not a cold spell. That's pathetic.

The people that thought this game was going to be close are clueless. The 49ers aren't even close to as good as we are, even with some key players down. You can find my posts on where I stand on that.
Yea I saw Reid fired up, but thats his job Phreak, nothing spectacular there.
There were alot of sloppy plays and alot of bad play calling, leading to 14 pts in 3rd QTR. Our defense was dead tired. Your not concerned a better team might be able to do a repeat like the Giants did to us?
stop already, seriously.
Yea keep taking the happy pills

It's a cold spell if it only lasts for one quarter. It's not acceptable, but it's not the end of the world. If you didn't notice, the Giants got back in the Seahawks game too. That is what happens when you get a big lead. Do you actually expect to maintain hot knife through butter like offense throughout all 60 minutes? On top of that the Niners had the ball for like 90% of the quarter and did a nice job moving the ball and eating up clock.
The Eagles only had, what, 2 possessions?
Yes. They had two posessions. For no positive yards. The left a depleted defense out to hang. Again.
It was a fairly dominating win. Defense couldnt get off the field in the 3rd, and the Niners only scored those 2 TD's because of one big play (thank you Rod Hood and your bum ankle) and the great field position (offense's fault) after the near safety. Nothing really you can complain about. Moved the ball with no problems without Stallworth. Brown had a few drops at the end, though.
Biggest concern of mine is the kicking game. Akers has had 3 fairly tough FG's and made only 1 (clanker in Houston). Can't be Dirk's fault, can it? Has Akers lost it? Not sure what's going on there. But it needs to be fixed. Now.
the eagles passed on 3rd and short remember
Akers lost it last year.
Yea good point on Akers. Whats with him? He was money in pre-season, no?

I think everyone agrees that it needs to be corrected. All I said was it wasn't the end of the world. If that is all you have to complain about today then I think that is a promising day for the Eagles.
will you just die already
First, offensive ineptitude is no small matter. They shut down after halftime yet again. The defense, which is now even thinner, did what they could to bail them out. There were also terrible penalties and stupid play.
offensive ineptitude is a strong word, they had one bad series. then the 49ers put a long drive together on the defense. then the defense scored, and had to come right back out and got another long drive put on them. then, the Eagles came out, converted a big third down, and scored a touchdown to answer the Niners score.
The game was alright, they seemed to have an issue with finishing again. The offense played really well today, the defense was OK. There are still some issues with this team that need to be addressed namely the secondary and the running game. They ran the ball very well today and just seemed to go away from it, I realize SF has an extremely weak secondary but there needs to be more of a commitment by Reid and Co.

I'll agree with that. I like GF a lot as a poster and he knows football, but I think you are overreacting a bit. If you break it down it was only 2 series'. They came together and put together a scoring drive. Yes -5 yards isn't good, but again, it's not the end of the world. They'll keep working and try to improve every week. It is not that big of a worry.

I agree that is a little strong they had a bad series the defense allowed two long drives and the quarter was basically over at that point.
What bothers me is that the game had some of the same patterns as last week: dominate early, allow the other team to come back.
They allowed the 49ers to score two EASY touchdowns, and San Francisco should have had a third. In the end, that Patterson fumble return meant everything: a 14-point swing in what turned out to be a 14-point win. Against a bad San Francisco team.
I'm happy they won, I'm happy the offense looked good early without Stallworth, but there were still some troubling signs:
1. The Eagles still do have not played a full four quarters. They allowed the Giants to come back, and nearly allowed the 49ers back in the game.
2. The secondary (minus Dawkins) has been horrid. They need to bring somebody in.
3. Andy Reid/ Marty Morningwheg's playcalling when ahead leaves a lot to be desired.
As of right now, I do not see this year's Philadelphia Eagles to be a Super Bowl contender. A playoff contender - maybe. Probably even. But the playoff are not a given.

It's funny because in the past the secondary was the strong point, and now it is the d-line. I think the pass coverage will get better as our DBs get healthier, but it definitely is a concern. Thankfully we have the Packers up next and an extra week to get healthy before Dallas.
There was 4 or 5, 3rd and short plays, that could of been converted on the ground and they were all passes! and they all failed! are you watching the same game? if they run, they might get the first down and even if they don't the clocks running...
This team is awesome. Number 1 offense in NFL. Number 1 in sacks. I have tons of faith in the players right now, I'm just concerned on the playcalling. The Gints game is a prime example of this. Yes, it could be a fluke, but you gotta finish strong. Manage the clock, run the damn ball please on 3rd and short. Its very simple.
FYI, IGY picked San Fran to beat the Iggs in the :CF Suicide League. :-D :-D :-D
Also, he may have told a few of you, if you had any concerns at WR on your fantasy team this week, bench the questionables and pick up Arnaz Battle. His stats: 3 receptions, 28 yards.

Correct.
Take away the stupid ass personal fouls (Moats, Walker, Jones) in the 3rd too and you don't have the 49ers getting free yards. They helped the 49ers gain momentum.
Self inflicted wounds. That is whats happening. And today they stopped it early and recovered to finish.
McNabb and Trotter called sideline meetings at the beginning of the 4th to set 'em straight. Per PostGL.
were there some negatives? yes. but they are outweighed by the many positivies, in my opinion. they scored 38 points on the road, without their #1 wideout. that has to be mostly good, right?

No. They didn't score 50 and Andy didn't run. And he is oblivious to the penalties. He stared in the stands all day long and ignored the game.
Should've beaten them 52-0.

Oh, and Considine was hurt in the 1st half too.
Considine - hip flexor
Lito - out
Hood - heel - playing at 50% today
Dawk - ding dong, you rang?
They were all out at critical points of the game. And they held Bryant in check for the most part. The killer was the 75yd bomb to Gilmore (covered by a hobbling Hood) and Johnson eating 'em up in garbage time.

Let's recap the 3rd QTR. Eagles have 2 or 3, 3 and outs. The rest of the quarter, San Fran has possession and scores 14 pts, almost 21 in one quarter. What plays were called in those 3 or so possessions? Better yet what plays were called on 3rd down? Notice the 3rd and short downs. Come on Phreak, what play are you calling on 3rd and short?
Punting through the third quarter would have been fine, if they had gotten a single first down or taken any time off the clock.

I'll enjoy next week's win. At least, I had better enjoy next week's win. You'll see some real motherfarging complaining if I don't!
Team Patterson would like to remind you that Corey Simon would have had a massive coronary before he got to the 49ers 35-yard line if he were the one recovering the fumble, which he also wouldn't have done, because he doesn't play to the whistle and give 110%. Patterson is teh man. Go Patterson.
You just don't get it PG. Who's not enjoying the win? Who crying season over? Nobody. I'm certainly not. I think this team is waaay better than anybody could predict. I think we are a legit contender for Super Bowl. But there are some issues when a shtein team like San Fran can almost score 21 straight points in one quarter. Reid put our defense is a bad situation with his playcalling. Period. Last week it lead to us losing. Real teams will expose this like a chicken with a beak. Once he smells blood that chicken will peck the wound until the others dead.

I don't think that necessarily helps Team Patterson's case. That scenario you presented might be the one thing possibly more entertaining than Patterson's rumble down the field.

QuoteEagles' Patterson a real crowd pleaser
By Wright Thompson

SAN FRANCISCO -- How do you know you need more team speed? Easy. When a 300-pound buffet-killer jiggles down the sideline for 98 yards, that's how.
After Mike Patterson finally staggered into the end zone, with his teammates certainly in hysterics on the sideline, he didn't have enough gas left to dance. Picture a runway model being force-fed a sack of Krystal burgers. That's what it's like for a D-tackle to run the length of the field. It's just not natural. So, no, there wasn't any dancing.
"I was too tired," Patterson said.
Back near the bench, he finally got to thank his blockers. A Cali native, he had about 60 friends and family members in the crowd, going nuts with everyone else.
"I told him, 'Rumbling, bumbling, stumbling,'" defensive tackle Darwin Walker said. "He just started laughing."
It was that kind of day for the Eagles. After a disheartening collapse last game against the division rival Giants, and a week where the city of Philadelphia worked itself into a black funk, this domination set their world right again. The final score was 38-24, but that included second-half substitutions, a San Fran touchdown in garbage time and the Eagles ending the game by kneeling on the ball on the Niners' 9-yard line.
It was that kind of day for the 49ers, too, who were booed by the home crowd coming off the field at the half. The Niners couldn't even score from the 1-yard line. First down, nothing. Second down, nothing. Third down, Frank Gore fumbled, for the third week in a row, on the goal line for the second week in a row.
"It concerns me," 49ers head coach Mike Nolan said. "He's on the goal line, he hits the pile, he spins and then he gets brought down."
Well, Patterson looked down to see the ball just sitting there. He picked it up and started running. Forty-five minutes later, he arrived. No, seriously, he was moving good for a fat guy.
"He looked pretty quick for a good 40-50 yards," quarterback Donovan McNabb cracked. "Then reality hit how big he was."
When Patterson looked up at the Jumbotron, he was struck by a scary fact: He was all alone. Understand that Mike Patterson has probably never been that alone on a football field in his life.
Just him, two blockers and a bunch of greens. No, wait, green. A bunch of green in front of him. Down at the other end of the field, Jeremiah Trotter laid in the grass and watched the show on the big screen. San Francisco tight end Vernon Davis, who fractured his right leg on the play, was sure he would have caught Patterson.
"Oh, yeah," he promised, "definitely."
Patterson got to midfield and was still alone. There was no one to even lateral to. This was the Baby Sapp Show. That's what they called him in college. Notice he wasn't nicknamed Baby Maurice Green. He rumbled on, led by an escort of blockers.
"He had a bunch of guys in front of him," head coach Andy Reid said, "so I thought he'd be OK."
It was the longest fumble return in franchise history and put the soon-to-be 2-1 Eagles up 31-3. From the flea flicker to open the game to receivers who were backyard open, everything worked. Of course, if you asked 49ers cornerback Shawntae Spencer, they didn't get manhandled. It was subterfuge.
"That's what they hurt us on today," Spencer said. "It's trick plays. Straight up football, you saw what happened in the second half. It was a whole different game in straight up football. We knew coming in that they had to run trick plays."
Uh, like not being able to tackle a 300-pound lineman? That kind of trick play?
After it was over, Patterson headed back to what is now his corner of the Monster Park end zone. This time, he walked slowly, and, as he got to the tunnel, the crowd went nuts. He gave 'em a fist pump. Smiles all around. It's always hysterical to watch a fat man run. Takes the bore out of a long afternoon on the bay.
"It was fun," McNabb said. "I was very happy for Mike. He had a lot of family here today. He put on quite a show for them."

QuoteThat's what they hurt us on today," Spencer said. "It's trick plays. Straight up football, you saw what happened in the second half. It was a whole different game in straight up football. We knew coming in that they had to run trick plays."
49ers CB Shawntae Spencer or Extremeskin Bubba9497? You decide...
Yep... that was a real tricky 71-yd TD run by Westbrook. Crazy how McNabb handed the ball off to him like that. :sly
This stat may surprise you: Shawn Barber led the Eagles in tackles with 9.
Obviously, they were playing a lot of nickel, but Barber also saw time after Dhani got himself in the doghouse with a penalty and when McCoy got his bell rung by Mike Robinson. Gaither was in the game a bunch in the 4th too.

And don't forget that extra-tricky stiff-arm. No way he gets away with that one in straight-up football.
It was a violent stiff arm, thats tricky. regular stiff arm is straight up football.

The Eagles ran exactly one "Gadget" play - the Flea Flicker. Usually, Reid likes to call the Ghost End-Around/Fake Reverse/Play-Action Pass. I didn't see one yesterday. The SF defense lost all of their teeth on the turf with DMac's Play Action Fakes. Spencer is one to talk about to begin with, and any DB that allows the receiver they're covering to get 100+ yards before the half shouldn't be blaming the loss on "the opponent not playing 'straight up' football."
Try 'straight-up' covering your @#$#@ng receiver then. Better yet, try covering your own mouth, because you're letting bullcrap leak out of it. You sound like a whiner talking garbage after the fact.
KC, please score a million points on this clown and shut him up.
Technically, play action is a "trick" play. I guess Spencer thinks that's unfair football. Run if you show run. Pass if you show pass. Frankly, Spencer would like the offense to simply tell him what play they're running. Otherwise, it's outright trickery and has no place in the NFL.

That's right...Baldy loved the violent aspect of that play.
Baldy's verbal fellating of the Eagles is nauseating and he should be fired, just as soon as ESPN fires Theismann.
I have to admit that it was a little embarrassing. If I was a Niner fan watching that broadcast, I'd be livid.

Running out of any shotgun formation is also trickery. The QB should be considered a witch and be burned at midfield.
all i know is if your pissed, you should be. if we scored instead of fumbling, we'd have the momentum to score again especially with your D completely exhausted.....i'd be calling for reid's head too, doesnt he realize he has westbrook and ovbviously doesnt need to pass on short 3rd downs, especially when your supposed to be killin time at that point of the game ???

Yep. Agreed. Like I said, it only took him about 13 seconds to run 98 yards. Not bad.
I still amazed that the play wasn't blown dead.

After this week, I'm not in a great position to talk (6 correct this week after 12 and 13 the previous 2), but IGY is just barely over .500 after 3 weeks in the pick-em. Straight up. No line.
I think if he finishes out of the top 10, he should be banned from posting game predictions for 1 year. If he finishes under .500 he should not be allowed to post any predictions about anything ever again.
wish i had the video of robinson taking out dawkins. he was quoted on fox saying thats the hardest he's ever been hit by an O-player.....ya i know ::), but i need to feel good about something :-\

Quoteanyway every single pick i make in that pool is who i want to lose not who i think is going to win
Yep, just one more piece of evidence that you are a 'skins fan:
Pick Washington to win - obviously don't want them to lose.
Pick the Eagles to lose - You didn't think the Niners would win, you just wanted the Eagles to lose.
Show those true burgandy and gold colors Extreme-troll...
Um... he's saying he picks the teams to WIN that he wants to LOSE. But ok.

That is exactly what came to mind when I saw that run. I have to say that I was a little skeptical about him being a RB in the NFL, but just seeing glimpses yesterday I think he may have a bright future. I didn't even realize that was him at first because he changed his number from what it was a couple of months ago.

1. It would be really awesome to see the Eagles play an entire 4 qtrs.
2.
Monster Candlestick Park is quite unimpressive. Our seats were awesome but the stadium as a whole = :boo

4. Parking was a Snyderesque $25 and the parking lot was all gravel. :boo
5. There were people eating cheese and drinking wine in the parking lot. :boo
6. There were
alot of empty seats around the stadium.
7. 49ers fans are soft. They hardly said anything to us and most of it was regarding their 5 rings....none of which have come in the last 10 years. ::)
8. Security was called quite a few times to remove Eagles fans from the stadium. :yay
9. I was not one of them. :boo
10. The weather was awesome. :yay
11. The Eagles quieted the crown from the get go. :yay
12. [broken record]Reid needs to run the ball more.[/broken record]
13. The goal line stand/fumble recovery/td run by Patterson was absolutely awesome. No one in the stadium realized there was a fumble until Patterson was about 30 yards down field.

Not that I am trying to make Truck feel better, but I watched the Tivo'd game last night over my buddy's place.
Alex Smith is going to be a damn good QB in this league for years, not that he isn't there already, but for a second year guy, he is seriously improved. The Niners look like they are heading in the right direction as well.

He'll be ok. I think the jury's still out on "damn good", but he should have been sacked at least 4-5 more times. Until the end when he fumbled a couple of times, he was avoiding a lot of possible big mistakes. He only threw up a wounded duck once as well.
He's alot better than I was expecting. He's very illusive and has decent speed. Arm strength is above average. He had some bad throws and then again his receivers suck. You never know, put in a better situation, he could be really good.

After re-watching last night, the OL was not very good. The Eagles got a nice push on almost every play. I think the mental game was there (it's not like they simply missed assignments), but they were just outmanned physically. Smith did well to avoid getting sacked 8-10 times.

Your D always did get a nice push. Dilfer would have been hospitalized in the first quarter. Since you've seen so much of him, do you think Larry Allen would have made a difference?
How old is he now? 50? Still, the answer's probably yes.
