Good teams playing pissed off against bad teams tend to result in a lopsided score.

Akers makes one of four, McNabb throws a backwards pass in the endzone this week. Trotter is thrown out once again because he just doesn't learn. Player of the game is Dawkins, but it's a sympathy vote because his head will explode in the third quarter.

Time to pick it up a few notches if you plan on sticking around.

Anyway - in an upset special, I'm picking the Eagles to rout the Niners 35-10.  I'm further predicting that I will drink several shots before the game that will be provided by my bestest pals here on the boards.

This one isn't even close. Bet half these guys were jumping for joy a few years ago knowing they weren't playing McNabb. Look where it got them then with a rookie Westbrook (who barely played), Thrash and Pinkston and Detmer/Feeley.

But whichever quarterback starts needs to brace for an improved San Francisco pass rush. The 49ers piled up seven sacks during their Kickoff Weekend victory against the St. Louis Rams, including three from Bryant Young and 2½ from Julian Peterson. Even more worrisome for the Eagles is that San Francisco uses a 3-4 defense, which typically has given Philadelphia some problems.

So if McNabb is healthy enough to play -- and he insists he will be -- then he needs to pad his ribs and brace himself. The 49ers are going to be targeting him, like every team will.

PHILLY SUCKS AND SO DO THEIR FANS GO AHEAD AND BOOT ME I WILL JUST COME BACK

mcnabb imo is in one of his two or three game slumps...where he cant throw the ball straight...at some point...probably next week...hell bust out with a huge game but for now expect him to struggle...and this has nothing to do with the chest bump...hes just off right now

luckily hes off going into a game vs san fran...if it was any other team id be worried...eagles d will own this game...they will provide the offense with good field position all day...perhaps even scoring a touchdown themselves...either way they will help the offense enough for them to score 21 and no way they give up more than 10 (unless mcnabb is really bad and turn the ball over on his own turf)

21-10 birds but its not going to be pretty...expect paranoia to run rampant next week amongst eagle nation...to be quelled by a thrashing of the raiders next sunday

the end

when a live streak has to be quantified with an excuse like "at home" or "4pm games" then it is not much of a streak.

you're speaking of a streak that since 1990, has had what, 3 chances to end?

37-3 Eagles

I swear if they don't come out fired up in their home opener after their NFC championship season against the worst team in the league and blow them off the field I am going to be pissed off.

They better win by at least 3 touchdowns. It shouldn't even be close come the 4th quarter.

This is exactly what the Lambs fans said before

This is what they said after

Default  Man I am Disappointed
Yeah we lost to a hated rival. I beleive the last time they beat us we won the division and they did not make the playoffs. Anyways my disapointment comes from my own bench. I have never in my life seen so many people fall off the truck so quickly. Yeah I had a melt down last year in the Falcons game I was stupid enough to have hope, but that was the playoffs. This is the first game of the season played in a bitter rivals house. They came out and played tough and beat us fair and square. There is no reason to doubt the whole season. One game means crap right now. The only thing that sucks is we have to listen to the crow. After standing on a street corner at the stadium waiting for my ride for an hour in full Rams garb there is nothing I have not already heard. I mean they even made fun of my Mamma.(no she was not there I would have probably thrown a rock in that case) So buck up little campers and get ready to feast on some red birds they taste a hell of alot better then this crow thats going around. Just think too, when redemption comes at the dome we will probably be mathematically eliminating the whiners from the playoffs

The 49ers were outplayed by a half-decent team at home, and barely managed to win.

The Eagles are better than a half-decent team, and the 49ers are on the road.  Watch the difference.

Yeah, the reason they put up so many yards on us and almost came back is because we couldn't establish the run. That's the key to this game for both sides I think. We're gonna want to blitz and they're gonna want to stack the box. We'll see what happens.  ;)

Yeah, I know. I mean run the ball well. If we can utilize the running game to control the clock, I think our defense has a chance to stop your offense, If not, we may be in for a long day of watching you tire out our poor defense that's been on the field for 2/3 of the game.

Yeah, but Atlanta is Atlanta...and they're perpetually mediocre.   Besides, here's the problem.  Rattay is going to get killed.  I don't see him lasting through the 3rd quarter because he's roughly as mobile as stone.  But Alex Smith...he's one hell of a QB and he's better on the run (from what I've seen).

Man, no friggen' way the Niners score over 20 pts. against the Eagles. NO WAY, I don't care who is a qb.

So, your logic is that the Niners starting qb gets knocked out of the game, and the backup comes in and wins it for them? ::) ::) ::) ::)

You just can't argue with 7 sacks.

You think that the offense the Niners have will score 27 pts. against the D the Eagles have?? I don't think so. Atlanta couldn't do it with 200 rushing yards and Trotter on the bench.

We'll see.  I'm just calling it like I see it.  I have a bad feeling about the Eagles this weekend.  I've also got a feeling that Donovan might not make it out alive.  :o

Judging by your prediction - I'd say my question in the Sunday Pilgrimage thread is answered.

You're a bitter 49ers fan. And not only bitter...but a little light on the brain cells too.

No way the 49ers score 27 points against the Eagles.

No. Goddamn. Way.

You still have season tickets available for your team (that says it all right there). You can hate on TO all you want, but he was DEAD ON RIGHT about the Niners AND their organization. LOL. Are you serious? Dude, you might have a couple of good players on your team's defense, but McNabb has faced FAR better and in MUCH more critical situations (Atlanta in the NFCCG, for example) and gotten through just fine. The only times McNabb has ever been hurt enough to leave a game was temporarily in the AZ game when he PLAYED THE REST OF THE GAME ON A BROKEN ANKLE...and in the 2003 NFCCG when he was hit by a dirty hit and tore his rib cartilege. He even tried to play with that.

If you think the Niners (LMFAO, the NINERS?) will destroy McNabb, you have got to be out of your friggin mind.

I'm sure you did outplay the Rams.  The problem is, it's the Rams.  Their OLine is horrible, and their defense is pedestrian at best.

Now, agreed, our OLine was horrible last week, too.  But our defense is anything but pedestrian.  I don't think the 49ers will be able to run effectively, or pass effectively.  Can't see them scoring in double digits.  Owens is highly motivated to perform in this one.  The line (hopefully) got a kick in the ass in practice this week, and McNabb (hopefully) had his head surgically removed from his ass.  Even if the Oline/McNabb aren't up to our usual expectations, we should be able to score in double digits.

Equals a win, by my math.

Nice.  Very articulate.  But you speak of the past.  The past is irrelevant.  And if not, it's hard to argue with a 5-0 record in the SB.  And I hardly think that saying that T.O. is a disruptive force regardless of where he goes is ignorant or factually inept.  And certainly the Niners were a laughing stock last year.  But let's analyze the past, since you're so enamored with it, to see who has been the better team.  Here are the pertinent numbers from the last 25 years:

Besides, you've had 2 winning seasons in the last six years, and last year shore wasn't one of them now was it? childish namecalling aside, i just don't see the niners offense doing much of anything tomorrow.  the eagles played like crap & still held the falcons to 14 points last week...and the falcons have an excellent running game.  the niners offense just doesn't stack up, imo.
they'll be lucky to score 10 points, imo.

so that's why i'm going with:

eagles- 100
niners- 0

I think the Eagles win easily ....

37 - 17.

That being said, and it may have been mentioned already, I have seen some of the ugliest smackdowns laid on these two teams by each other on the others home fields. Koy whooped up on them two years ago in Frisco before getting hurt, and I remember Charlie Garners coming out party in San Fran, that may have been the 40-8 ers game. Conversly, I don't remember the Eagles ever beating the 49ers here in Philly. I recall the Monday Night game under Rhodes where we got thoroughly embarassed and that guy shot off a flare gun. I also remember sitting through a 4th quarter comeback where the Eagles surrendered a 20 point lead under the fire of a 3 or 4 TD barrage by Joe Montana in the late 3rd and 4th quarter. Impressive to see, but no fun to watch.

Should be interesting.

Well, I'll let you know what my opinion is even thought you probably don't give a... errr.. shtein....

The Eagles have a very good team. They have recently been a consistently good team. They lost a road game to another good team, Atlanta. They lost this game because of Atlanta's defense and running game. Also, McNabb was likely effected by his injury. His accuracy seemed a bit off to me.

The 49ers have a young team in the rebuilding stage. They have recently had a consistently mediocre team. They have also recently (the past two seasons) had a horrendous coaching staff. I do not say that they have had a bad team because they have many talented players on defense, but a very unproven offense. Last season was only as bad as it was because of injuries to multiple defensive starters. However, they have a new coaching staff now and the injured players have returned. They won thier game at home against one of the better offenses in the league, the Rams. The Rams also have an underrated defense, in my opinion. They won this game with defense, special teams, and trick plays. Also, Rattay led the offense well and didn't make any mistakes, except a questionable fumble on one of his two sacks. The game wouldn't have been so close if the 49ers had been able to run the ball and control the clock.

I do not disagree that the 49ers may have a hard time putting up over 20 points against a very good Eagles defense. However, I will disagree that the Eagles will have an easy time on offense. I think that many Eagles fans are underestimating the 49ers defense because of the statistics that the Rams put up against them. In response to this I must point out that the Rams held the ball for 40 minutes during the game and that Bulger passed the ball nearly 60 times. This was not the fault of the defense, but of the offense failing to control the clock. I believe that what it will come down to is how well the 49ers can run the football and control the clock. If the defense has to stay on the field like it did in the game against the Rams, they will likely get tired and give up points. If the 49ers can run the ball I think that they have a chance to win. If they can't and Rattay is forced to throw the ball with any regularity, I expect the Eagles pass rush to shut him down. I think that the 49ers can get pressure on McNabb as well. This will be made even easier by his reduced mobility because of his injury. If the 49ers do pressure McNabb, then I don't expect a good game offensively from the Eagles.

I cannot predict who will win. I can say that I don't think it will be a blowout for either team. I think the score may be closer to the Eagles last game.

I wish your team luck and hope to see both teams come out of this game without further injury. May the best team win!

Crabjuice...

This is actually a pretty well thought out, well articulated post.  I can respect your opinions.

I think you're out of your freakin' mind... but I respect your opinion.  ;D

I just don't see the Niners being able to move the ball with any type of sucess on our D.  I don't remember if it was you who said it but I seriously don't see any way possible for them to put up 20 points on us.  No way.  Trotter will be back in the middle, ready to rip someone's head off (and probably will) and I think he'll play a huge part in keeping the Niner running game in check.  Not to mention that we'll be bringing the pressure like nobody's biz.  We got to Vick with regularity and registered 3 sacks last week.  They'll get to Rattay even more than that.

All in all, I think the Eagles will be working with a short field more times than not, and that's where the points are gonna pile up.

The entire Eagles team is gonna come out looking to make a statement and prove that they're still the kings of the NFC, T.O. will come out looking to torch any and everyone in a red & gold uni and Trotter will be looking to kill ANYONE who gets in his way after Monday night's travesty.

Don't confuse us with the Rams, the Eagles are a totally different monster.  Eagles win. 34-10

There are many retarted Eagles fans who aren't impressed unless McNabb goes 25-25 for 600 yards and 10 tds.

Unfortunately, there are some who just do not appreciate what McNabb's brought to this team.  And the media will dutifully get each and every one of them to vocalize their opinion.

McNabb was terrific yesterday.

Every team has fans like that and every news outlet feeds off of it. No use in complaining about it. As has been displyed over and over, Philly fans are not immune to stupidity.
