I haven't seen any of the games to be certain of this, but I'm pretty sure Foles hasn't thrown a good pass since he was an Eagle the first time

Foles doesn't have a great arm. He never had a great arm, early on he benefited from DeSean Jackson getting wide open and the best offensive line in football at the time. Foles didn't really need arm strength. Now, since the receivers fail to get consistent separation, it's becoming far more apparent. His best throw this season was in the Rams game to Agholor on that 3rd down play. He threw it down and away, the only spot where the defender couldn't get it.

One thing I've noticed about Foles is because of his lack of arm strength, his worst passes are out out routes by far, and his best passes are crosses and drags. Anything short or intermediate that he can just toss up there where the WR has a chance to get YAC.

The only time he was able to connect on out routes was on that final drive vs the Raiders where their corners were playing far off to prevent a big play and they kept hitting on them to inch up the field 5 yards at a time to get into FG range for Elliott.

Also, I don't know if he has small hands, but he really has seemed to struggle gripping the ball in cold weather. He was comfortable against the Giants, and can't seem to get anything on his throws the last couple games as the temps fell into the teens, and even struggled to hold onto shotgun snaps. Not sure if it's hand size or maybe the dude just has stone hands.

His arm was always suspect.  Even during his miracle season he looked like a little kid whenever he threw a deep ball, putting his entire body into it.  Always seemed to be a lot of full body effort and probably grunting going into his throws.  Maybe even a shart here and there, too.

the saints lost to the bucs so the eagles are winning the super bowl
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

So is Foles not much worse than when he was in Philly before? I don't remember his arm strength being a particular issue although I do remember an inordinate number of lucky longer plays to Riley Cooper, where a DB fell down or a blown coverage or something and Cooper managed to pull in a long, even if inaccurate, pass. If he hasn't dropped off much it's good news because he had an MVP caliber season and somehow made due.

I honestly don't think we have enough data to make that assessment. I mean, most players at 29 are not better than they were at 25, and remember he had elbow issues back in the summer. I don't see why he'd have any type of significant decline in any of his skills though. If you average out his entire career, he's a very mediocre QB and that's probably what he is now. Just like all mediocre QBs, he's completely dependent on the talent around him to succeed. If the talent is elite he can look like a competent starter. If it isn't, he'll look pretty terrible. The players around him will determine how good he looks these playoffs. If the line doesn't block for him and receivers don't get open he'll look like a total disaster. If they up their game, he might look ok.

Foles is all around bad. He has no rhythm, he can't scramble worth a damn, he back pedals too much when facing a rush, he doesn't have a quick release and he's not savvy enough to read a defense so he's constantly under pressure - and he blows under pressure. He's an all around bad fit for this offense. I wish they would have held onto Chase Daniel, his contract was horrible and he's a midget but at least he could scramble a bit, can read a defense, and is good on short/medium routes. I base this off scouting reports. Foles only chance to be effective is to learn how to pick a D apart and put the ball where his receiver can make a play. He absolutely excelled at that his one good season. He needs to work with Kelce on shotgun snaps, bobbling the ball every other play ain't gonna get it done.

farg you Blount...bo hoo our fans are negative. Sorry we're not bandwagon NE fans, our fans aren't fake, we call em like we see em. Shut us up and win a friggen game.

no hes not

hes been VERY bad the last 5 quarters but he was actually pretty good against the giants. foles has a high variance where he can look real competent and sometimes very good, then the next week he looks like doesnt belong in the sport. the big worry is his confidence and the cloud of negativity hanging over him now....not a good combo.

also never mention chase daniels name again pasta boy

Yes he is.

The Giants have one of the worst defenses in the league and probably the worst pass D and were playing for nothing. The Raiders and Cowboys have middle of the road defenses and were also playing for nothing. He couldn't put a semi competent drive together. I can't imagine what a decent D in the playoffs in bad weather will do to him.

It's Daniel not Daniels, and I'd take my chances with him over Foles. He has mobility, a somewhat quick release and can read defenses...essentially a perfect game manager. Foles lack of mobility, inability to read a defense, and ridiculously long release is a bad combination for this offense. If he had Peters blocking his blind side and Kelce got his head out of his ass he could be an effective pocket QB with an established running game allowing him to use play action to stretch the field. Last week he made some comment about getting the ball to Jeffery even if he's not open because Jeffery can go up for the ball, so he lobs a pass 10 yards behind Jeffery that got picked off. His rookie season his placement on those passes was very good, he no longer has that touch.

MDS

the giants and raiders have a 200 yard difference in passing yards against but one is bad and one is middle of the road. yea. they both suck. like chase danielS. the extra s is for suck.

foles has proven to be a competent backup. its not a high bar to cross and even the best of backups look awful at times. the point of a backup is to hold the fort down for a few games. foles went 1-1. thats fine. theres no team that can win 3 playoff games with nick foles. not even the patriots. whining for chase farging daniel like he could beat the saints, vikings and patriots is silly.

the eagles season ended in LA when jesus' son torn his acl. what are we even talking about.

You seem to think Foles is a competent backup, I think he blows.

ice grillin you

foles is simply brutal....i would legit rather see nate the great...never understood how you could be a 6'6 250 lb qb and have a pathetic arm

his biggest short coming tho is his attitude and body language...when hes playing much of the time it looks like he would rather be anywhere else in the world than on a football field....seems like he hates the sport of football
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

He looks really uncomfortable in the cold. Nobody likes playing in 10 degree weather, but most athletes suck it up. He looks like he'd rather be sitting on a heated bench in a triple fat goose, a wool hat and gloves.

General_Failure

Good news for him then, he only had to do it one more time.

The man. The myth. The legend.

this is the biggest thing for me. his stats yell mediocre qb, which is what youre going to get as a backup, but he clearly wishes he could go back to wearing a parka and going over plays with wentz on the ipad.

again. the dude won his two starts. thats all you can ask a backup qb to do. if you need to go to your backup you hope its for a few games. not the playoffs.
