They are definitely a strange bunch. No matter how much success they have, they can only feel good if they're crapping on other fans. Even more so than the cockroaches.

It's a real low information fanbase, spoiled by decades of success. I lived in the Pitt for a decade, and for living in such a shteinhole it's amazing how little they know or care about life or sports outside da burgh. Aaron Hernandez can be killing dudes and the only NFL news they are interested in is how "Hines" is doing on Dancing with the Stars.

I understood being harassed while wearing my Flyers gear, but I had yinzers twice my size trying to start physical fights with me for wearing a Westbrook jersey to farging preseason games. Deep down they must know their area sucks because they are super defensive and insecure about everything.

That's pretty much my take. They think their city plays second fiddle to Philadelphia, so they feel like they are somehow slighted...and they're subconsciously trying to compensate.

the second fiddle syndrome is there...and definitely the low information fanbase factor.  i know more about the steelers than most steelers' fans i know.
but they're really good at counting lombardi trophies.

Most times, there's a pause, and something along the lines of "O'Doyle rules!"

I don't doubt that Philadelpha has a New York wannabe complex. But it's a different vibe than what comes out of Yinzerburgh.

I am kind of lucky that my next door neighbors, who are diehard steelers fans (moved to the area in the 70's), are philly people. they also know the team and the game. a break from the norm around me.
