man, I thought I was alone in that thinking. you're right it's probably a combination of all things but man, usually when the eagles stink I tend to pay more attention to the rest of the league. this season, not so much.

the kicker thing makes no sense.  it's like moving the xp back caused them to forget how to make fg's.  ???
lemonade was a popular drink and it still is

I'm not really feeling this season.

I mean, I'm sure a decent part of that feeling has to do with the disappointing-at-best Eagles team. I'm sure another part of it is that I'm spread a little thing running around with stuff. But I really haven't enjoyed watching the games as much as usual.

I agree with most of your list and yeah the birds blowing chunks has a lot to do with it. My biggest complaint is the NFL is turning into the nba with the over officiating. The defensive holding calls can 'literally' be called on every play so the refs have way too much influence on the outcome. I cant think of a worse job in sports than being an NFL db. The Ticky tack bullshtein calls are at an all time high.

I hate how much of a passing league it is now. The blowout games are absurd. Goodell is the worst thing to happen to the league. Way too much tinkering and unimportant changes that have made the product worse.

have to keep the casual fan & corp suits in the suites interested and they want more offense.

Was casual fan and corporate interest ever an issue before Goodell turned the NFL into the arena league? The only casual fan of NFL fans are women.

smeags

sure there were casual fans and corp interest before but goodell feels he doesn't have to worry about losing you or me. offense sells the game better as far as the owners feel and you know that's who is really making the decisions.

I'm sick of looking at the on-screen graphic after every big play waiting for the inevitable penalty to pop up.   Seriously, the NFL action has been awful and not just because of the Eagles not playing well.  I used to be able to watch from 1:00 PM. to midnight straight through and never get bored or disgusted.   Now I can barely stomach watching just the Eagles.   I just don't give a shtein anymore.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Has anyone ever told you that you're the poster child for anal sex?

That could be completely true. Doesn't make the points any less valid. I mean, are you telling me you don't notice a drop-off in quality this year, overall?

I leave games on mute while I do other stuff. Other than being at the game or somehow getting a feed with no graphics bullshtein on it, it might be the best way to watch. Also, not watching with people worried about their fantasy teams is great. I can't recommend that enough.

quality is a relative word. the players are better and more athletic than they were. but the game is much different. less violent -- but for a reason. the league finally took their head out of the sand in regards to brain damage.

on top of that, they are over-protecting the qb because good qbs drive ratings and good qbs need to be healthy to drive ratings. people want to see good qbs do good things. which means wide outs need to be open. which means they need to emphasize penalties on DBs to open up the game.

then you have the lack of preseason and training camp, one issue is coaching fear, then other is the union negotiating less work time. the bottom line? ratings are up. money is flowing in.

basically, its the internet and people whine and complain. they see other people whining and complaining about the same things they are whining and complaining about, and that further validates their thought (this applies for millions of subjects, not just football). i still watch a ton of football. i still like it. goodell is an icehole, though.

I mean even over last year, doofus. I'm not longing for the halcyon days of yesteryear.
