The transaction of Heyward doesn't bother me. He could've gone anywhere. But the fact that sabrmetrics tricked people into thinking he's worth close to $200m is funny. I mean look at lil guy trumpeting out what his war was.

I don't believes he's a $100m player, no. I believe that stratosphere should be for truly elite players and I don't believe he's one. He's good. He's not great.


I'm all for free market and getting what someone is offering you. If someone is offering me an insane contract I'm not saying no.

You two can argue all you want but Jason Heyward isn't worth the deal he just got.

Just because he happens to be the best available doesn't mean he's worth insane money. Wanna go back and look at all the bad contracts over time and see how many were worth it? Just because they were the best available on the open market?

Part of that's just baseball economics, Phreak.  I'm not sure I believe he's elite, either, but he is probably the best OF on the market.  And, like Igy said, he's young.

Of course, that baseball (and sports) economy is also pricing out a large percentage of the fanbase, but the millionaire players and billionaire owners don't really care about that, as long as they get theirs.
