I'm not even saying it's a bad deal. He's a great piece for the Cubs. My point is the Cubs won't even particularly care how he plays at 32 if he lives up to his potential over the next few years. The Cubs window is open now and they are trying to line up the final pieces.

i dont see the odds being higher that the contract will suck in 2-3 years anymore than 5-6 years...in fact it it should be better in six because the market will have far surpassed the aav by then and he will still be in or near his prime
