He's a lock for the hall of fame, right?

The man. The myth. The legend.

It was difficult to part.
That team has lost a lot of good players. Definitely could use samoan defense like him.

I know safety's don't make the hall often but him, Reed and Dawk should be locks in my opinion

ice grillin you

Reed and polamalu are mortal locks....no way dawk gets in...not a ton of safeties in and he was at best the 3rd best safety of his era and no ring
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

i agree with this. i love dawk but no way he's a hall of famer.

I wasn't really making a comment of whether he should or shouldn't get in just that I'd be really surprised if he did

As far as if he should....I'd say no....great player but not all time transcendent hof great...and I know it's an individual honor and team accomplishments shouldn't matter but I still think no title really hurts him

If Polamalu is a HOF then Dawkins is.

Similar numbers.

How can you say Troy is and not BDawk?

Simply a better player...better playmaker...you said it yourself...basically same numbers but dawk started 80 more games

Plus polamalu was a champion

I don't think he was way better than dawk but other than some eagle fans I can't imagine anyone thinks dawk was as good as polamalu

I texted three people to gauge what they'd say;

One Texans fan, one Cowboys fan and one Steelers fan

They all said that if one makes it then the other should. And they're pretty astute football people - not some slappy's who causally watch.

I don't think the champion can be taken into consideration for a safety. If we're talking QBs then it holds a ton more weight than a secondary guy.

Polamalu was fantastic but so was Dawkins. I think they should both be in without a doubt

You just said numbers were the same totally ignoring the incredible discrepancy in games played and now he should get in because you texted someone and don't count championships?

sorry if you didn't convince me

Larry Wilson (S) 1960-1972
Willie Wood (S) 1960-1971

Not a whole lot.

Maybe Aeneas Williams' hold of Freddie in the 2001 NFCCG got him in.

I mean I realize that Dawk played more years but he still put up outstanding numbers. I'm not doing an either or here. Im saying both should be in and I used non-Eagle fan opinions to show that I think you're in the minority of saying Dawk isn't a HOf

Munson

FWIW, Dawkins was also playing a bunch of years where the league ran more often, and also seems to be that the tackles from his first 5 years in the league aren't recorded for whatever reason on nfl.com. Other websites have his total tackles at 895 to Polamalu's 581.

Also has Dawk at 36 forced fumbles vs. 14 for Polamalu, and 19 recoveries vs. 7. Polamalu had a couple of big INT years though, where as Dawkins was slow and steady with the INTs.

I agree with the stance that if one of them gets in, the other should get in as well.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds
