its true

the difference is there is nothing to hate about the sixers right now an theres no games that have anything riding on them so negative cynical miserable reverse psychology wanna kill everyone after a loss havas is not necessary

its almost like they are so horrifically bad right now that they are good

lol jesus

theres a million things to hate about them....you are just love them under any and all circumstances. again you were worshiping the ground of jeru the djama holliday. come on.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

ice grillin you

theres nothing to hate about them right now...they are pointed strongly in the right direction and the games dont mean anything...so what to get mad about?....sounds to me like you are a hater way more than im a lover

The Braves' Director of International Scouting (Johnny Almaraz) is joining the Phils, replacing Wolever

QuoteAccording to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, "people close to" A.J. Burnett believe the 37-year-old right-hander will pitch in 2015.

out of pure spite for amaro, i hope he comes back.

If he pitched to his career averages they still wouldn't have broken .500.  This team is done until the Big 5 are gone.  And even then they still have years of rebuilding before they contend.

The bad news is Amaro is still the architect.  I could almost stomach a 5 year rebuild if they would just fire that farghead.

$17.5m or whatever is tough to turn down

Yay

Yeah, but the sad thing is it didn't need to be this way.  Smarter decisions and selective upgrades and this team could be 10-20 games better than they were.  farg, the Cardinals did exactly that and look at them.  The Giants aren't world beaters in any sense of the word, yet they have two trophies and are on their way to a possible third.

This is on Amaro and that feeble farghead ownership group that is more concerned with keeping asses in the seats than anything else.

MDS

yes and no

the phillies were unlucky in the sense that all of their good players were basically the same age...i.e. they all got old at the same time. they traded away all the guys behind them, but none of them were really any good.

so even if they dont sign howard and dont sign utley or whatever, theyd still stink. what player that they traded away turned out to be an all star? all the stupid free agent signings (ibanez, lee) cost them their first round picks, which werent even in the top 20 anyway. basically, the writing was on the wall in 2007. this was always going to happen...amaro just prolonged it.

i agree they care more about attendance than doing what is right for the franchise....it was going to happen no matter what but their hang on by a thread mentality at all costs has set the rebuilding process back years...horrid scouting hasn't helped either

but I dont think its fair to compare the phillies now versus those franchises....where the phillies come up miserably short in comparison to sf and stl is in the fact that their golden years produced one title while sf and stl have multiple....you cant be a 130 year old franchise have your best 1b 2b and ss of all time all simultaneously be in their prime never leave and only win one title

that core HAS to win more than one ring they didn't and that's on the players

yup

amaro gets destroyed and rightfully so...hes an idiot. but he did everything he could to win with this core and they responded by losing in the playoffs. cant blame him for that.

Rome

Bull farging shtein.

He traded Victorino and he won a World Series with Boston.  He traded Pence and he won with the Giants, this after trading half the minor leagues for him in the first place.  He let Werth walk.  He traded Cliff Lee for nothing and spent a farging fortune on Fat Joe.  He traded for Roy Oswalt.   He had a chance to jettison Dom Brown and held onto him like he was the farging Rosetta Stone.  He overpaid Ibanez and he laughably overpaid Papelbon (bidding against himself).  He extended Choke, Utley, Chooch & Rollins when any other general manager would have said, thanks for the memories, but buh-bye.  He could have used 21st century scouting techniques including advanced metrics, but ended up evidently using a wet index finger in the wind player selection method instead.

I could go on, but why bother?    Amaro is at fault for all of this, ultimately.  He could have made dozens of other moves that could have kept them contending longer.
