Quote"When I consider the Washington taterskins name, I think of what it stands for. I think of the Washington taterskins traditions and pride I want to share with my three children, just as my father shared with me -- and just as you have shared with your family and friends," Snyder said.

Rick Reily came out last month and defended the name "taterskins" based on a conversation with his father in law.  Except for the fact that he took his quotes out of context and the father in law is pissed.

QuoteSo you can imagine my dismay when I saw my name and words used to defend the racist Washington taterskins name. My son-in-law, ESPN's Rick Reilly, completely misunderstood the conversation we had, quoting me as saying "the whole issue is so silly. The name just doesn't bother me much. It's an issue that shouldn't be an issue, not with all the problems we've got in this country."

But that's not what I said.

What I actually said is that "it's silly in this day and age that this should even be a battle — if the name offends someone, change it." He failed to include my comments that the term "taterskins" demeans Indians, and historically is insulting and offensive, and that I firmly believe the Washington taterskins should change their name.

When Rick's article came out, it upset me to be portrayed as an "Uncle Tom" in support of this racial slur. I asked him to correct the record. He has not, so I must do it myself.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Wow.  Pretty farged up that Reilly wouldn't even retract and/or correct his story.  But Reilly is a douche so I'm really not surprised.

Rome

I wonder why Reilly hasn't retracted the story or at least clarified the mistake?

Oh, that's right... he's a colossal icehole.

PhillyPhreak54

Man he's really an icehole.

That along with the whole "GIVE ME CREDIT" about whatever players injury (Roethlisberger?) last year...total dick

I don't get what his dog in the fight is...why is he so opposed to the taterskins changing their name that he would write a bogus story

I've come up with a few possible reasons off the top of my head.

A.  Because he's largely irrelevant and there's not much that's going to draw attention to yourself more than publicly supporting a racial slur.

2.  He's doing it simply for the sake of being contrarian.

  • He honestly believes there's nothing wrong with the name.

D.  All of the above.

General_Failure

He's angling for a Fox News gig, obviously.

The man. The myth. The legend.

hes also just a terrible person and by and large their actions are unexplainable
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

QuoteI wonder if the NFL is screwing over the Skins to "encourage" them to change the name and not cause the league trouble

QuoteAll of this crap has to be related to the name change.   I'm getting sick of political agendas on something that is supposed to be for entertainment.
