Demetress Bell joined Michael Barkann and Ike Reese on WIP in Philadelphia to discuss the process that led him to Philadelphia, whether the Eagles were his No. 1 option, what sold him on the Philly, his lack of football experience, his versatility as an offensive lineman and his relationship with Jason Peters.

Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman told the Philadelphia Daily News that Bell was the free agent they most coveted even before they found out they had likely lost Peters for the entire 2012 season.

"[E]very day, I go over our draft board and our free-agent board. For us, at the top of our free-agent board, is Bell," Roseman said. "This is before we know anything about the injury."

Roseman said the Eagles tried to sign Bell early in free agency, but that Bell's agent told Roseman the Eagles were a bad fit because Bell wanted to be a starter and the Eagles didn't have a place for him in the starting lineup.

and I'm sure there was interest as a backup because they needed depth but they probably tried to jew him with an offer and he laughed at them. Once Peters went down they had no choice because they needed somebody other than King Dunlap.

the irony here is that they deserve more credit for being reactionary in such a strong way that after the inury they were able to knock out a deal with bell than they would for targeting a run of the mill guy as your number one player in FA

I find it incredible that with guys like Mario Williams on the market, Demetress Bell is their Prince Charming.

I think they've actually done a fairly good job last year and this off season as far as signings.

For all the bashing the FO gets, how they've managed the cap is the envy of many teams and fan bases, and we're just too jaded from not winning a championship to see it. It's the drafting side that's killing them.

how is their cap management better or wrose than any other team?....what teams wish they were like the eagles...and not in terms of wins and losses...teams like buffalo and the skins wish they were them...but in terms of cap management what teams wish they were the eagles
