As much as I love baseball, and I'll watch dozens of non-Phillies games during the year to go along with the Phils games I take in, I never got excited for Opening Day in baseball other than the Phils Opening Day.  I'm excited by it and if I'm able to, I'll watch the first game of the year, but if the Phils aren't playing in it then I'm not rearraging my schedule to watch it.

Agreed. The only sport I get excited for opening day/game is football. After being without football for 6 or 7 months even a Thursday night opener between the Browns and the Jags would give me a mini erection. Baseball/Basketball/Hockey on the other hand I'll watch the first game but the excitement isn't the same unless it's one of my teams playing.

Agreed. I'd fake sick every opening day until my mom caught in and relented later in my school years knowing I was going to sit and watch opening day.

Even before all the nationally televised stuff I'd watch the Cubs and Braves and whatever ESPN feature game was on after we moved away.

Most vivid opening day memory was 1995 when John McSherry collapsed (and later died) on the field in Cincy

QB Eagles

Let's be honest, the real Opening Day is tomorrow. It's not about the one game. It's the awesome feeling of knowing there are a shteinload of games on and baseball is BACK...

Don Ho

That ballpark in Miami is a farging joke.  I didn't know what the hell I was looking at.  All that hype for that?
