Lol @ heath bell. They don't need the top guy. Qualls is fine.

They need offense. That's it, that's the list
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

"I think we're pleased where we are," McCann said. "They haven't dominated us. We know we can play with them. They're a great team and so are we."

LOL. You just lost 14-1, idiot. With the Phils missing 2 All-Stars and both of their closers. I'd kind of call that domination
"Oh, yeah. They'll still boo. They have to. They're born to boo. Just now, they'll only boo with two Os instead of like four." - Larry Andersen

They should have won last night too.  Not quite sure what Mcshteinkicker is smoking but gimme sum.

Slow your roll, homers. Two of the top three Braves starters were missed, and they are missing some good position players as well. The first two games were basically toss-ups.

I still think that the Phillies are a better team, but McCann is right. The Braves are close. And being close and getting a little lucky is all they'd need to beat the Phils for the division or in the NLCS.

Enjoyed the win today, but don't chuckle when the Braves players comment that they're not too bad. They're right.

Cosart got the win in the Futures Game after a 1-2-3 8th while Valle had an RBI double and a run

Don Ho

Thanks Ed.  I was wondering how they did.

Back to the Braves.  They are a damn good team and it was awesome watching the bums hit parade this weekend.  The Braves will be around all year.  They aren't going anywhere. Lowe had a horrible day but they have a grade A staff and very good bullpen.

We'll see them 6 more times but not until September.  Last three games are in Atlanta.  Fun.
"Well where does Jack Lord live, or Don Ho?  That's got to be a nice neighborhood"  Jack Singer(Nicholas Cage) in Honeymoon in Vegas.

Munson

So all this talk about adding a bat.....what about Melky Cabrera? Dude's on pace for 90/20/100/20 right now, and he's a switch hitter. KC will most likely be looking to move him and/or Frenchy.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

PhillyGirl

That's great that the Braves are a good team. I have no qualms about that.

But guess what? You got destroyed 14-1, probably not the best time to make a statement like that. k?

for example, Derek Lowe:

Quote"[Philadelphia] is a good team," said Atlanta starter Derek Lowe, who gave up four runs in six innings. "Sometimes you've just got to say, 'You got your butts beat.'

"That's what happened. They pitched great; 20 hits, 14 runs. You just have to give them credit."

Doc gets the start tomorrow night over Jurrjens.  Braves fans are pissed

Besides havas and 15 people in Atlanta who likes the braves?

the braves and phillies are evenly matched

the phils pervceived advantage wont really be a big advantage in the playoffs

halladay
lee
hamels
oswalt/worley

vs

jurrjenns
hudson
HOF
beachy/lowe

can you say the phillies top three are better...sure you can...but if both teams give up one or two runs in eight innings then what is the difference...the answer is there is none...basically a braves phillies playoff series will be identical to the first two games of this series...and the teams split those games...the series would be a coin flip and would come down to clutch hitting (and to a lesser extent bullpens)....if the braves timely hitting is better than the phils as sf's was last year then the phils lose...if the phils continue to do well in the clutch like they have this season so far they will win the series

the problem is that the phils offense dies a slow death when they face top starters....choke for example has 11 hits and 30 k's against top starters this year...expect an epically bad nlcs from him if they get that far...granted the braves offense scares no one either but the point is that the phillies hideous offense will negate their big three starters when facing other good pitching in the postseason

in other words mcann is exactly right in what he says

Heath Bell....what would that take?

Padres need bats. Rizzotti or Singleton?

rizzotti has no ML position and probably has no major league future and if he does its as deep bench player...hes a throw in in a trade but he alone is not getting you anything of substance at the deadline
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

I think it's up to at least 25 since they're good again.  Speaking of igs, I wonder if that Lee HR off HOF excited him or made him violently ill...

Also, more proof that the Phanatic is the best:

no mention of the padilla flotilla, though.

i remember there was this super awkward video i think on csn of the flotilla meeting el senor de tequila in the clubhouse and he just had the most confused, deranged look on his face when they started doing the dance for him. oh, those were the days.
