Howie really screwed the pooch last offseason. He was so eager to prove himself after the Chip debacle he went out and signed awful contacts:

Vinny Curry - horrible
Brandon Brooks - nice player, but was there a need to spend that much on a guard?
Rodney McLeod - nice player, but they already have one pro bowl safety, their pass D was horrible last season. Signing him was unnecessary
Zach Ertz - being paid as a top 5 TE, doesn't resemble one until the last 5 games of the season. Can't break a tackle yo save his life
Chase Daniel - maybe the worst contract in the league
Celek - was there really a need to re-sign him?

Curry is a one trick pony but he's not horrible.  He should take Barwin's place adequately enough to justify the money they spent. 

Brooks was signed to keep Wentz upright.  I'm fine with that deal. 

McCleod was meh but they didn't break the bank on him.  I generally agree with you there, though.

Ertz is insanely overpaid because of his so-called potential.  Stupid contract.  Howie gets the gas face here. 

The Daniel deal isn't even worth discussing.  Totally agree here. 

Celek was a legacy deal.  They've pissed money away on far worse players but I agree that the money could have been spent more wisely. 

I'm giving him a C- on this group but only because I still like Brooks and I'm reserving judgement on Curry until Barwin gets out of his way.

curry didnt have to do too much to unseat barwin last year who was awful all he had to do was be average and instead he played 450 snaps and had two sacks...im not sure if hes horrible but if he isnt hes a hell of a lot closer to horrible than he is to being an nfl starter

what he really should be is a valuable rotation piece that gets 4-5 sacks a year because hes coming in fresh...instead he was invisible last year
