One thing I want is a 4-3 defense

They have 4-3 personnel

Trade Barwin for something if you can

Funny thing here is that everyone was dying for the 3-4 around the same time Chip was hired.

I don't care what scheme they run, I just want it to not suck.

Not everyone wanted a 3-4.  I farging hate it.  HATE.

Cris Carter says he talks to Jordan Matthews a lot and said that Chip told him he would be benched if he spun the ball after TDs

The fact that Chip thought Matthews would score with any regularity is mind blowing.

I don't really understand this. Why would any fan give a shtein how many linebackers are on the field? The Steelers have run the 3-4 for 30 years, it's worked out okay for them. If it works, a DC could run Knute Rockne's seven-box defense for all I care.

Because it's more difficult to fine four great linebackers and that's what it takes to run that scheme successfully.

This. I just want players who can actually play. Scheme is even more overrated on defense than it is on offense.  Put 11 guys out there who can cover, shed blocks, and tackle.

Lol @ needing 4 "great" linebackers for a 3-4.  And with a 4-3, you need an extra d lineman.  Do all 4 need to be great?  Is it really that much harder to find 4 great lb than it is to find 4 great d lineman?

Curry's fine, but he's one of those guys you have to be willing to let walk if he wants too much money. Same with Thornton and Carroll. I'd welcome them back but they are replaceable.

Bradford, Thurmond, Cox and Logan are the only long term deals they have to get done with their own guys, and even Thurmond is pushing it.  The latter two aren't FAs until next year but ideally would be handled this offseason.

Jenkins too, no?  He's got what, one more year?

Jenkins will be 29 when his contract expires. That makes him less critical to lock up. Also I think he'll be easier to deal with during a contract year than young guys (and their agents) getting their first scent of the FA market.
