Rome

Was never a fan of his play or his social media whoring.  He's a guard and he thought he was worth more than he was being paid.  Now he'll be able to find out just what his worth is in the open market.  Good for him and good for the Eagles for allowing him that opportunity.

If guns kill people then spoons made Rosie O'Donnel a fatass.

he didnt want out...he wants money....he just lost almost 6 million bucks this year...we will see if he gets it all back...i highly doubt it and its possible he takes a monster loss...the eagles couldnt even get a 7th rounder for him....so who exactly is going to cake off the oldest OL in the nfl
Maybe the Raiders since aren't they below the league minimum?  Also, the Gints have some O-line problems.  I am disappointed to lose Mathis over an extra $1 million/year.  Two years of not drafting a lineman is going to catch up to this team.

im not saying he wont get signed he definitely will....im speculating on whether he will get rewarded by being released and in that case ill be shocked if he makes 6 mil this season

his best case is probably getting a two year deal from someone that has more than 6 in guarantees...but i dont even think thats a lock altho that would be less surprising

Both sides are idiots, Mathis is delusional to think he's going to get some mega deal. And the Eagles are dumb to not throw the guy an extra million. They already offered it to him, what's the sense of not leaving it on the table? Kiss of death was once he started running his mouth.

hunt

crappy situation all around is right.  mathis should've taken the extra mill last year.  all he's done since then is miss 1/2 the season and get a year older.  i'm not surprised that offer was taken off the table.

mathis will sign for less $ somewhere else...and the eagles will start a stiff like barbre at lg.  lose/lose :boo

im 90% of time on the players side in stuff like this but hes a guard and hes literally the oldest starting lineman in the nfl and he was about to make five and a half million bucks this year....what the farg was he bitching about

hes acting like his base salary is 950k or something...if you wanted the bigger bucks you should have become a good player when you were young

if i didnt know better id say that this is a case of a player thinking the pro bowl has meaning....hes somehow made two in a row and now thinks hes john hannah

that said its def true that they are far worse at his position...but who cares...he was never going to be on the team when/if they become truly competitive anyway

whats more concerning is chip not drafting a single offensive lineman the last two years

Chip got rid of two top ten receivers and a top five running back while picking up every injured player he could find. I don't have it in me to get mad about him cutting the best guard in the NFL. I won't have it in me to get mad when Kendricks gets cut, either. When Cox gets traded for a one-legged punter that has the same name as a guy Chip once talked to while he was a college coach, it won't even be news.

Mathis isn't the best guard in the NFL.   Settle down, Rosie.

Are you saying that one link I looked up isn't a legitimate source for all my guard ranking needs? How dare you.

being a top 5 or 10 guard is kinda like the tallest midget thing

but still top 5 26 year old guard I'm prob ok with caking off...re doing a 34 year old top 5 guard not so much...especially so when you are in the middle of a rebuild

The best way to rebuild is to make sure your franchise quarterback doesn't survive until you replace all those star offensive players you cut, let walk, or traded because they didn't like kelp in their smoothies.
