bear with me here

the genesis is to have an abc exclusive game. this is the 1st abc exclusive game since the 05 super bowl. all previous games on abc aired also on espn. if abc is going to have a game, it needs to be east coast prime time. 

so abc gets its own game, but espn has to have on too. they could go before or after the abc game, i guess the idea is to have espn go first and give abc the only game for the 10-1130 stretch...which is the highest rated period. plus a good lead in for the local news.

notice how they are using 2 B- games for this? they wouldnt select jags/colts nor would they un-exclusivise something like packers/cowboys. but eagles/vikes is the perfect whatever kind of matchup thats perfect for this.

outside of some CFB and the nba finals, they allowed espn to swallow their sports (to the point where abc sports doesnt exist anymore, its just espn). with cable dying a slow death, the idea is to bring back more stuff to abc since fewer and fewer HH's have cable. hence these exclusive nfl games.

want more confusion? this is the first year of espn's new tv deal with the nfl. the cbs fox nbc deals are still the old ones from a decade ago...their new ones start next year. so this is the last year of fox/cbs designations for afc/nfc games. next year that is no longer a factor

Who's carrying what. Is Amazon or whatever streaming a game or two now too.

Which announcers went where.

I usually don't pay attention to this stuff until the season but I feel like this offseason has been a bit more chaotic

Come on, American Idol is on ABC.  Wife has that on Sunday nights and it takes every once of energy not to toss the flatscreen out the front door onto the street.  But good point, other than Nightline (yes. I'm old) & college football what's on ABC?

crew assignments are handed out like 2-3 weeks out of each game

the schedule is more or less known now, but teams havent been told. they get told AM of release day and thats when info starts to come out. a grand total of 6 hours before they dump the entire thing anyway.

there is no specific fri/sat package. nfl is barred is from airing games then in order to give high school and college the nights. there will be some late season saturday games as usual.

amazon has thursdays...they wanted a black friday game but the league said no because of the usa/england world cup game. so there will be one in 2023. i think thats what youre referring to.
