i was out of pocket for the time surrounding super bowl weekend and not online much so i missed this amazing piece....probably was posted here during that time but if you also missed it its an absolutely spectacular read

The last line in that piece is probably the most telling and was the most exciting to read.

Great piece. Always good to get inside the heads of the 'goings-ons' behind the scenes.

You could tell what a tight group it was all season highlighted by the Electric Slide celebration they all did.

Howie is straight up fleecing people.

Re:  Torrey Smith

I'm being a prisoner of the moment so to speak, but he made some important plays in the 2 biggest games of the year.  Also seems like a stand up dude.  Not shedding a tear, because chances are he's drop 3 passes in week 1 and I'd be back to hating on him, but he's leaving on a high note as far as I'm concerned.

Smith and every other Eagle on that Super Bowl will always get my love.  They are all goddamn heroes.

Oh, I don't hate the guy. He seemed like a good dude....who dropped too many passes and made too much money on a team that couldn't afford him.

Diomedes

Nor do I think every Super Bowl champ should be kept.  He had to go.  I'm delighted with Howie's play here.

But I love Smith, and every other player on the team.  I wish him the very best.

Smith in particular I will always have a soft spot for. And Malcolm Jenkins. And Chris Long. Good humans who aren't afraid to say what they think and follow through on it.

He dropped passes, but made up for it by getting PI calls.

Amazing how rapidly the Eagles went from starting Dorial Green-Beckham to being in a position to trade away WRs for other assets.

Smith misspelled Duce's name in his goodbye letter. His free drinks are cancelled.

Appreciate it Torrey.  Not the greatest year but good dude and played well in the playoffs. Props.

I would have liked to keep Smith but at a drastically reduced salary. I'm sure he'd say no so thanks for the memories. A 4th option in the passing game isn't worth $5 million a season. I think they'll add a Veteran WR on cheap. I'm sure Mack Hollins will get a chance to start, he's basically Torrey Smith minus the experience. I didn't realize he was 6'4.
