Is WR really the missing piece that will get the Falcons over the hump? They need Defense. If you do the value chart on just this years picks swapped it looks like this:
Falcons: 1600
Browns: 1038

Now add a 1st and 4th next season into the mix.

If the Eagles had made that trade we'd be livid.

Atlanta got fleeced

I don't think so.  I'm on board with IGY's logic here.  When you're a top team in the league, you can afford to give up an extra draft pick here and there.  They don't need to build a core through the draft like Cleveland does, they only need to address a few specific needs.  Why draft players that you don't need or think will even make the roster?  Better off using that pick to move up and get someone that you covet.

i envy teams like that because its what the eagles should have done all those years (they did do it in 04)...if you are on the cusp go for it...i also love that atlanta went for a player that can help them right away and is at a position of need...yeah of course jj has to pan out but if he does the pressure he takes off of what happens to be atlantas two best players is enormous

btw if you go by the trade value chart they overpaid by about a 160 pts which is the eqivalent of a mid third rounder

How do you know how much they overpaid based on the value chart when next seasons picks haven't been determined yet? And I'm glad the Eagles didn't sell their entire draft for a WR. Their problem was they didn't address the position at all. Fans kept waiting for them to either sign an F/A or draft a guy early and they didn't address the need. Throwing every pick at a team for a WR would have been stupid.

i still can't get over the Vikings taking a guy at 12 who's high ceiling projection is Matt Hasselback or Chad Pennington
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Another difference between the Pats and Eagles......the Pats identify veterans that they feel are getting old or that they won't be able to re-sign and they move them for draft picks.  Then they use those draft picks, package them together and get a few quality players.  Look at what they did with guys like Seymour and Vrable.

unitl they actually win a sb championship i will never ever ever get over the mike macmahon offseason coming off a superbowl appearance
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

I don't think the Falcons are making defense a priority.  Looks like their philosophy is going to be to try and outscore everyone.

Straight up panic move - especially with Dalton, Kaepernick and Mallett out there.

No way Ponder was their BPA right there.

No doubt about it.  I bet their fans miss the good ol' days when the Vikings would just not submit a name on time and get skipped.
