NBC doesn't actually pick but the NFL tries to give them the strongest ratings draw for the Saturday night game since NBC doesn't get any other playoff games. Then they also get the weaker draw in the other conference for Saturday afternoon.

Also the Eagles have already been on NBC 4 times this season. I imagine FOX would be pretty pissed about losing 5 Eagles games PLUS being forced to carry that NFC West crap as a consolation.

nbc gets 1st and last pick....but the nfl acts as the mediator in the picking. nbc "stole" the eagles/cowboys last year plus "stole" the eagles 4 times this year as you said...plus they are launching some comedy or something on sunday night and want the best possible lead in for it. fox put its foot down and complained and got their way. plus now cbs gets the 430 sunday divisional game which will probably be steelers/colts...and holla at yo boi thatll be a massive number.

since no/nfc west = bal/kc in terms of a draw the 400 is a wash. that leaves gb/phi and nyj/manning....with probably the eagles being a little bit better but its not really big enough for nbc to whine and complain. they get a really good game as it is.
