They don't have any linemen the correct size to play NT or end in a 3-4, do they?

IGY seems to think they have the ends already, but I'm stumped trying to figure out who they are.

killa and abiamiri def could

the soweegian is perfect there as well

Killa wouldn't cut it as a 3-4 end. I'd wager Cole struggles to stay above 260 during the season. I think they could get Bunk to play an end spot, he's got the speed and agility for it, although a bit heavier. He's right at 300. I wouldn't mind seeing Abiamiri and Te'o and a big space eater in the center of it. Behind that, you've Graham, Sapp, Bradley, Cole.....and....who else penciled in at LB? Jordan, fargu, and whatever else they have on the roster don't project  to 34 backers.

This team could use a fat body in the middle regardless to help stuff the run.

this would be to logical...no, they are going to continue to ram square pegs into round holes and not understand why they have to blitz 85% of the time to get pressure.

btw, andy already said last night that the Artist could line up at DT during passing situations, so you know that's what they are going to do, much like howard

it's this team's farging history

Jevon Kearse?  all he can do is rush the passer, so lets make him stand up and drop into coverage...it's the joker!

Darren Howard?  pass rushing end who is a little bit bigger?  make him line up at DT and rush the passer against guards and centers.

i agree...but as long as they run the jim johnson system its not gonna happen...wouldnt be difficult to switch though

as for the 3-4 - hypothetically of course

line

bunkley - NT ??? - soweegian - patterson if you wanna go bigger you can always acquire somebody to rotate

linebackers are all there...let them play it out in camp

This is something that I don't understand at all, why not have a big guy in the middle for run downs.  I guess they like getting gashed for 5-6 yards a pop and letting the other team control the clock.

The last pick settles this.  There was a perfect NT waiting for them and they traded out with SD who picked him.

SunMo

the thing is, they don't even let Bunkley or Patterson get behind the line, the scheme is to stay at the line and tie up the guards and center, so why not just grab a big fat ass to plug shtein up

Are there any more Samoan DTs available?

More 3-4 coming....

Quote*To me, McDermott's session was the most accessible and useful, maybe because he took a lot of questions. The prime information there was that McDermott acknowledged what we've all been speculating on -- as he tries to find ways to use all his new personnel, he is thinking of doing more with 3-4 looks. The Eagles' base defense will remain 4-3, but they've shown 3-4 here and there in the past, and that tendency very well might increase. The biggest obstacle would seem to be the lack of a true 3-4-style, monster nose tackle. McDermott said he thought Brodrick Bunkley  could fill the bill, and he noted that Antonio Dixon is "320 and rising."

The Eagles also have some variations in which they employ five down linemen, and that might be something McDermott does more with, as well.

The Eagles have different sorts of nickel and dime packages, including one where a nickel back lines up almost as a linebacker. McDermott seems to see Marlin Jackson as a guy he wants to plug into that spot.

We talked a little about how important returning middle linebacker Stewart Bradley is to what McDermott is doing. He noted that not only is Bradley effective against the run, he is very tough to throw over, in the middle of the field.

McDermott confirmed that after those season-ending losses to the Cowboys, he was "seeing bubble screens in my sleep." He didn't give specifics, but obviously, a big focus of his offseason has been plotting to patch that hole.
