The BIGSTUD

I'm one year UNC, 3 years Temple, one year LSE for grad school.

The only years of college I enjoyed were Temple and it's easily the weakest of the 3 schools.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

QB Eagles

Quote from: SD on June 10, 2010, 11:30:15 PMUnless it's ivy league you're basically learning the same crap.

I graduated Ivy League and it's the same crap there too. In fact I thought I learned significantly more from the professors at grad school, when I went to a state school.

For undergrad, you can learn just about anything just about anywhere. Beyond that it's just reputation, networking, and signaling to prospective employers. A lot of the trappings of higher ed are a bit of a scam, anyway. There are many less costly (in money and time) ways to educate yourself in a field; the problem is coming up with the piece of paper that supposedly certifies what you know and can do. You're paying for having yourself linked to the reputation of the school on the paper more than you're paying for the instruction.

These days, many people basically decide their school on the non-education-related stuff anyway: the climate, the parties, the sports, the dorms, the relative quality of the Hoyda. Can't blame 'em when the primary function of so many of these schools is day care for coddled 20 year olds not emotionally mature enough for the workforce.

Not to hijack this thread but which ivy league school did you graduate from QB? I was all but accepted to get into Penn but didn't pursue it.

Rome

I went to a state college and discovered my lifelong love of puns there.  And I memorized my social security number.

Not bad for $25K!

I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I was more academically challenged in High School than I was at Penn State. It's possible that that is a function of the high school I went to many of my hs friends went to much better schools than I did and say the exact same thing, and the hs we went to is considered one of the best in the country.

But ultimately my conclusion is that undergraduate studies have become a joke. Graduate school seems to be the standard by which 'higher learning' is defined these days. Except for MBA programs, those are farging laughable.

I have to admit I don't find any of this college football conference realignment remotely interesting. I keep trying to care and I keep failing miserably.

back to football and TEMPLE

- 2013 @ psu, 2014 @ linc, 2015 @ psu. they play next year @ the linc and im pretty sure are back in psu in 2012. its a good game to play for both sides.
- close to a 4 year, 2 homes games each series with rutgers starting in a few years. ITS ON JEWHARD.
- notre dame called temple and wants to set something up should they remain independent. they like playing east coast games and probably figure this is one they can win.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Agreed, Is the Big Ten still looking to add other teams? I haven't heard anything since the addition of Nebraska.

im pretty sure they want rutgers, syracuse, notre dame and one other

they could always add mizzou once the 5 other teams leave the big 12 and kansas does what it wants, possibly bringing kansas st along for the ride. that would leave mizzou, baylor and iowa st hanging out and at that point its every man for himself.
