Don Ho

Is it really too much to ask that Cole not go out and serve up at least 1 homer every game?  Is there some bass ackwards incentive clause in his contract that pays him more money for every long ball he gives up?

:-D  We've all become immune to the mandatory first inning dinger.

What a night by Hamels!  Good shtein.

just got finished watching the game on dvr...

chokes homer and ibanez double were just ridiculous bank hits....especially chokes homer...that park is a disgrace...jayson werths homer was ridiculous in a good way

hamels looked good but better than him going seven innings was the way he responded to the homer he gave up in the first...he lowered his head for a split second and i was like oh lord here comes a meltdown...but he bounced back lovely which was huge...perhaps hes turned a corner

how does a franchise as good as the phillies that does almost everything the right way have tom mcarthy and satan wheeler as their lead announcers...its absolutely inexcusable...wheeler is the most sickening infuriating disguisting person in the history of sports

how much more fun is it to watch this team when jimmy is playing...on the field he is awesome but off the field he might be even better...i could watch him interact in the dugout all night long and not watch one second of the actual game

oh btw RIP jimmy and his motherfarging traitorous sell out POS weak ass stab me in the heart calf muscle....I HATE YOU!!

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Werth's dinger sounded like a cannon blast.

Jesus Christ.

And Colleen pitched his ass off too.  116 pitches & 76 for strikes = awesome especially against a lineup like Boston's which will wear you out.

Phils beat Red Sox, but Rollins hurt
By Matt Gelb

Inquirer Staff Writer

Just about nothing could ruin this night for the Phillies. Ryan Howard was hitting balls to the opposite field. Jayson Werth crushed an upper-deck home run to left field. Cole Hamels worked in and out of deep counts, possessing a dominance rarely seen on a consistent basis since 2008.

Then Jimmy Rollins came up limping while running to first base in the sixth inning.

The Phillies beat Boston, 5-1, on Friday. But it was the scene of Rollins immediately taking himself out of the game as manager Charlie Manuel ran onto the field that will be remembered.

The fact that it was the same damn injury for Rollins is worrisome.  He didn't seem to limp much walking off the field, but we'll have to see how bad it is.

Hamels' last four starts: 3-0, 2.36 ERA 24 Ks in 26.1 innings.  He's still giving up homers (3), but is keeping them from scoring multiple runs.

Coincidentally, Halladay's last four starts:  2-1, 1.44 ERA, 25 Ks in 31.1 innings.  What a damn stud pitcher.  If Hamels can get even close to his '08 postseason form, this would be a devastating 1-2 duo come playoff time.

Cole Hamels After Nine Starts
2007 - (6-3) 3.30 ERA
2008 - (6-3) 2.89 ERA
2009 - (5-4) 5.21 ERA
2010 - (5-2) 3.92 ERA
