I think they'll be active in the post draft waves that come along. I can see them waiting til roster cuts to address a need or two.

shorebird

Thats entirely possible also. Really there wasn't much to be had in free agency this year, not that the Eagles would have been active if there had been.

Are you talking about the Eagles or the Ravens?  Do you even know?

Talking about Eagles this time. As active as the Ravens were you should now that. There wasn't much to be had for what the Eagles needed, linebacker, d-back, o-lineman.

ice grillin you

so wait the main free agency market sucked this year but somehow the eagles are going to make waves in a secondary market?

also keep in mind that roster cuts are going to be minimal this year..and ones that do happen have for the most part already taken place...the june first cut date that used to be semi meaningful does not exist anymore

really what you see with the eagles right now is what youre getting next year barring two possibilites

1. they trade donovan

2. they make a power move in the first round and get up to a spot where they can take a player who will help them this year

there's plenty of good restricted free agents available.  if there was one that would help they would make that move.  it's not like reid is afraid of making a trade, especially now that the one guy who could stop him is in cleveland running that franchise into the ground.

i still question the idea that the eagles will give up picks for a RFA. it would have to be a big, big name and i'm not convinced edwards would be one. so who is out there that would look to be worth giving draft picks up on ?  ???

phillies will be under 500 this year...book it

Rome

they gave up a #1 pick for jason peters just last year.

they'll do it.  whether they would do it for a defensive end, linebacker or other position player they don't consider "important".

smeags

i know they have in the past i am talking "this year" ... last year was for an OT - doing it for the positions they don't deem important makes it even more of a stretch IMO. i wouldn't mind being wrong if it does help but i just don't see it happening.

I think that this year with how deep this draft is you can get guys that will help right away in the first 3 rounds.  Though the Eagles will probably draft a white LB from an ivy league school in the 3rd.

i dont 100% discount them getting a player in the draft that will significantly help them this year...and when i say help i mean in terms of wins and losses...but the chances of that are minimal...and thats not an eagles thing it goes for most teams picking in the later stages of the first round...its just not realistic to expect another pimp type copntributor to come along again

i think the eagles are what they are as we sit here today and i dont think much will change btwn now and the opener

Why not? It took long enough, maybe now he's on a roll.

no i mean you cant expect the eagles to draft a guy in the second round this year that will contribute the way pimp did in his rookie year

between pimp, maclin and mccoy, i'd say that the eagles have pretty much maxed out their rookie productivity for quite some time.  if they do manage to draft a guy who makes significant contributions from the get go, then i may have to re-evaluate reid's drafting ability.

Didn't you get the memo? Howie made all those picks!  :-D
