because he has a cool mustache.  Rolle to the Gints makes sense, based on how farged their secondary was last year

Yeah, and Kenny Phillips has a lot of promise but it's possible his career may be over.

I dont know where you heard that, but that couldnt be further from the truth. If the season started tomorrow, Phillips would be on the field.

He has arthritis in his knee and had microfracture surgery after missing almost all of last season. He can only jog in a pool now but not on land.

A good buddy of mine in NY is a life long NYG fan and, despite his handicap, has a pretty decent feel for the team. Last we talked a couple of weeks ago he said everyone is hopeful Phillips can return but behind the scenes there are doubts (which is often the case with microfracture surgery anyway), and it's a reason the Giants are interested in Rolle. Jerry Reese has said they think Phillips will be back but they are proceeding as if he won't.

they have no depth because they traded away all their draft picks...

Meaning that they didn't have to pay any of their draft picks, especially the high draft picks, which they wouldn't have been able to because they were constantly right up against the cap.

Signing free agents to huge contracts and trading away draft picks for older more expensive players is behavior that is punished by design under the cap system and the taterskins proved that out beautifully.

they didnt get punished by the cap because they continued to spend whatever they wanted when they wanted...they got punished by their own incompetance...does the cap literally have no effect on what teams can do...of course not...it would exist if it did...like a single team couldnt sign the top 8 free agents in a particular year but it also doesnt stop any one team from signing the top free agent in a particular year

and draft picks have their own rookie pay pool...the cap doesnt affect them

Actually, washington did hurt themselves quite a bit with their cap management. They've had to cut several valuable players to get under the cap, particularly in '06 just before the new CBA extension. If the league didn't at that point significantly raise the cap washington would have really been screwed but they kind of lucked out.

its a pool of money within the overall cap...but its reserved for rookies...you cant pull money out of it to sign leonard weaver

not sure how the skins have had any real issues with the signing of rookies considering how many top picks they kept giving away.

phillies will be under 500 this year...book it

I just think its hilarious that IGY is completely discounting the role that the salary cap has played in the fall of the taterskins. They tried to beat the system by monkeying with numbers and signing names and eschewing youth but only had so much money and wiggle room with which to do it, so when the inevitable injuries occurred and they were constantly right up against the cap with no depth, they had nothing that they could do but repeatedly fail.

The rookie pool, whether I was right or wrong in my original assessment of its impact on the Skins, is largely irrelevant to my argument. The way they went about business, trades, free agents, draft, all of it put them right up against the cap and that led to the team's ruin.

iggy can say the sky is pruple all day, doesn't mean he's right.

there zero debate on how the mishandling of the cap is a big part of the skins downfall. zero.

trust me i follow the skins almost as much as the eagles and it played a minimal role if any at all

their biggest problem was having no real GM...not the cap

in fact i cant think of a single player the skins really wanted and didnt get because of money...on the flip side i cant think of any good players they lost because of money...its a non factor

antonio pierce i guess?

never said the cap was the only issue, just said it is a part of the issue. spending cap money stupidly is a "cap" issue.

which does lead directly to your point about the lack of a real gm.
