ESPN insider rumors saying Giants want Rolle?

Nate Burleson to the Lions for 5/$25M.  How does this guy keep getting paid?

because he has a cool mustache.  Rolle to the Gints makes sense, based on how farged their secondary was last year
"For all the civic slurs, for all the unsavory things said of the Philadelphia fans, also say this: They could teach loyalty to a dog. Their capacity for pain is without limit." -Bill Lyons

i actually dont want peppers...hes to old for that kind of money...if the eagles were a DE away id say go all out...but they are in big time retool mode that could venture into rebuild territory when cobb takes over

To me, the money part doesn't matter, it's not my $ and it is officially an uncapped year.

the cap even when in place was a joke anyway it pretty much didnt stop anyone from signing a player if they really wanted...to me the more important money factor is that lurie doesnt have bottomless pockets

so it matters if it prevents the eagles from doing more important things that will help them win down the road when they truly are ready

and its more about age than money to me...altho in this case i have a sinking feeling that it could be a lethal combo

all meaningless tho as i cant see him getting out of chicago

Yeah, and Kenny Phillips has a lot of promise but it's possible his career may be over.

for real? True there are ways to shuffle some things around but that has it's limit, but to say there aren't teams which don't pass on a coveted player because of the cap isn't true.

I dont know where you heard that, but that couldnt be further from the truth. If the season started tomorrow, Phillips would be on the field.

teams use the cap as a reason for not spending money or to get rid of players...but im not entirely certain the cap has ever prevented a team from signing someone...taterskins are the perfect example of this...for 15 straight years the cap was going to implode them...we are all still waiting

Yeah your right the cap really is a joke.  Its weird I must be coming to this board too much I find myself agreeing with IGY more and more.  That or I am just getting older.

Uh, we're not waiting. It has completely happened. Over the past 5+ years the taterskins have had thin talent up front and absolutely no depth, culminating in a 4-12 season. They've won one playoff game in the last decade plus and are now purging a ton of their roster.

You've been pushing this idea that the cap has not affected the taterskins for years, but despite the fact that they sign whoever they want, they have had no depth and an embarrassing win-loss record over that time. The salary cap has absolutely impacted the taterskins, it just hasn't kept them from signing free agents to lucrative contracts.

they have no depth because they traded away all their draft picks...not because of the cap

Meaning that they didn't have to pay any of their draft picks, especially the high draft picks, which they wouldn't have been able to because they were constantly right up against the cap.

Signing free agents to huge contracts and trading away draft picks for older more expensive players is behavior that is punished by design under the cap system and the taterskins proved that out beautifully.
