i wouldnt go that far, Asante is a beast, dude cant tackle outside of one good pop a game, but he's an INT machine.   Sheldon got hands this year, and has been playing with a torn hammy, and it hasnt knocked his game.

Asante has 3 more picks than Brown does....and Brown has outplayed him in every other aspect of the game. Those 3 picks are not enough to make him better than Brown. Samuel has also blown more coverages than I care to think about that have directly led to big TDs for the other team.

You are biased so just stop happy scrappy lover.  Asante is the best or at least top 3 on reading plays.  Sheldon is the whole package

he has four more ints

and lets not get carried away and spew unwarranted hate on assante because of your stalk crush on sheldon

i personally think sheldon has had a better year but nine ints is incredible...no ones had more than 10 in like 30 years

i have no problem with nine picks getting you in over ANYONE

9 ints IS incredible. But if he could play any other aspect of the game better, it wouldn't be such an issue for me.

This national writer sums it up well (others have agreed on other sites)

Quote• Eagles cornerback Sheldon Brown: Teammate Asante Samuel got the start at one cornerback spot, largely because he's tied for the league lead with nine interceptions. But Brown has had the better season. He is tied for fifth with five interceptions and has returned a pick and a fumble for touchdowns. More impressively, he played through a strained hamstring injury and was there for the Eagles at a point when their season was teetering. Samuel's picks are nice, but the stats don't show how many times he jumps routes and is beaten on a double move. Or how he sometimes struggles to make tackles. Brown is a more complete player and has had the better all-around season.

Brown sure seemed to be there at pivotal moments, making a big stop or blowing up a play. He certainly should be a first teamer.

Funny how after significant contract dust-ups Sheldon went the high road and Sheppard, well, he just kinda drifted to irrelevance. I wonder what the FO will do given the year Brown's had.

they dont make reactionary moves...one season is not going to make them all of a sudden see the light

hes one year older....if they didnt cake him off last year dont expect it this year...altho it wouldnt suprise if they throw him a small westbrook type bone

Given a choice to keep Brown or Samuel, I'd give the edge to Brown. Brown also gets burned occasionally, like all CBs, but not as much, and he doesn't do dumb shtein like Samuel taking a penalty spiking the ball after his int. against Denver.

Samuel is a double edged sword, he has a fantastic break on the ball but often misses tackles because of it. He's just going too fast and receivers side step him and blow by. He needs to change his technique there as well as run support tackling and wrapping up instead of just Lito-hitting.

eagles actually have the best of both worlds outside...a playmaking turnover machine on one side and a safety who plays corner at a pro bowl level on the other

This....

Nice problem to have.  Asante can tackle, but he insists on the big hit when healthy, and he either connects/whiffs/or hurts himself.  He's gotta do some work with Joselio to learn how to wrap people up.  Joselio does a great job with leg tackles for a little guy.

I know its in everyone's nature to argue who is better but it would be much better for everyone if you all just died. They are two different types of players, both of which are invaluable to a defense that needs them. Probowl schmobowl.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?
