Also, for those wanting to replace 5...

How much are his ribs affecting his throws? I think he's still bothered by them.

You guys seem to be missing the big thing here, no matter how many times I point it out. Andy isn't going to send Kolb out there to be killed behind this line. This year is for McNabb to squeak into the playoffs, get Andy a new deal, and maybe get the young guys a couple million routes run in real games before they're all handed over to Kolb.

The only way Kolb starts again this year is if that awful line gets McNabb killed. Save your clamoring for the offseason.

I get it and I don't disagree with it in theory.  I also know Reid isn't going to Kolb so it's pointless to talk about.

The problem is Kolb will inevitably go through some struggles once he starts and I'd rather have those take place this year than next season.

Kolb struggling this season could mean not making the playoffs. Not making the playoffs might mean Andy doesn't get his extension. You see the problem now.

And more people aren't on board with this why?

I don't necessarily think Kolb will do any better than McNabb but I'm willing to take my chances at this point.  Everyone else is right though, if they don't run the ball it won't matter who is at QB.

I can't wait till Kolb is the starting QB and blows.

Did you morons forget who he played against?  If he is an average NFL QB then the Eagles lucked out big time.

General_Failure

He can be an average QB surrounded by incredible talent. If the line holds up next year, he'll overtake Romo has the most overhyped worthless QB in the NFL.

Must have missed people on this site riding Kolb's jock.   I think people are just tired of this entire regime.

It's not exactly like McNabb's taking apart feared defenses in Carolina/TB/Oakland etc either.

This was not a great win.  Lets not forget the fact that Washington for all their warts still has a very good defense.  It probably won't hold up much longer.  But a win is a win is a win.

There is no one that wants Reid out of here more than me, but he isn't going anywhere.  So the best we can hope for is that they catch lightning in a bottle.

Lol Phreak at you already saying the Giants will kill them.  Not that it won't happen, but this team plays NFC East opponents tough almost always.  This team definitely is not very good right now, but lets wait a little before we write their obituary.

My thinking on Reid & McNabb is this:

You have two proven commodities. For all of their rough spots and problems, they have been very successful in a league that usually doesn't allow the type of longevity and success we have seen with them.

Take a look around the league at teams who have struggled for years to find the right coach and QB combination. It's not easy to find good coaches or good QBs.

Reid has his flaws. The play calling, the clock management, we all know the lists. For him and McNabb.

But if you can Reid...what happens if you don't find another competent HC? What if they take a shot on a young assistant like Schwartz, Haley, Spagnuolo and it bombs? That's more likely than finding a Josh McDaniels.

What if you bring in a good ol' boy re-tread like Wade Phillips, Norv Turner, Jim Mora Jr, John Fox, or Herm Edwards? That's more likely to happen than striking gold with a guy like Rex Ryan.

The odds aren't in their favor. Guess wrong the first time, and its back to square one. Then you have players who were drafted by the first regime and you have a carousel at HC working with players who aren't his.

Same goes with McNabb. How long have teams tried to find that franchise QB? Its hard.

The best option, in my opinion, is for these guys to get it right. To fix and polish what they have started.

So essentially, Reid's flaws are just the game day stuff.

The Giants have one of the best DL's in the league. = The Eagles OL has problems blocking

The Eagles have a very good DL and pressure package = The Giants have a great OL

Eli knows how to handle the pressure. If they blitz and don't get there, Smith, Manningham and Nicks are going to walk into the end zone. And don't forget Kevin Boss. He'll probably have 10 catches.

I don't like the match up, especially with them coming off two straight losses.

Yeah, and we can add in the whole never deviating from the game plan and thinking on the fly

I don't think anyone can disagree with any of this.  That being said, at some point you have to decide whether being competitive and having a reasonably high floor is acceptable anymore.  Just because there aren't any guaranteed better options doesn't mean you don't pull the trigger at some point.

McNabb has a cold streak every year, people cry about it every year, and then he goes insane and is unbeatable for half the year.

Plus it doesn't help his ribs are broken.

McNabb could fall on a grenade saving aids ridden orphan babies and people would complain that he fell on it with a smile on his face.

He's not playing well.  His track record and recent history says he will turn it around.  Get some perspective and your baby blanket and calm down.

I agree.

Do you have a VORP like stat to show his value?

General_Failure

To be fair, McNabb shouldn't be smiling about orphan babies having AIDS.

Every team in the NFL right now has serious flaws, even the Saints.  One thing I will give Reid as much as he pisses me off, is his teams almost always play well after October.  Right now the Eagles are an OK football team.

Their defense almost worries more than their offense.  As crappy as their oline has been they still have some explosive players.  If their defense can play better they may have chance.
