And then January rolls around and he becomes eminently beatable once more.

Like I said: thanks Don, it's been fun.  They aren't winning with him or Kolb at QB this year and I think he's gone after this season, so I'd rather get the growing pains out of the way this year with Kolb.

McNabb has a cold streak every year, people cry about it every year, and then he goes insane and is unbeatable for half the year.

Plus it doesn't help his ribs are broken.

McNabb could fall on a grenade saving aids ridden orphan babies and people would complain that he fell on it with a smile on his face.

He's not playing well.  His track record and recent history says he will turn it around.  Get some perspective and your baby blanket and calm down.

I agree.

Do you have a VORP like stat to show his value?
I don't think so, but DVOA said the Eagles were the second best team in the NFL coming into the week I think.

It favors pass heavy offenses, but it had the Eagles as the second best team in the NFC pretty much all year last year so hey maybe there is something to it.

Every team in the NFL right now has serious flaws, even the Saints.

The Saints got rid of all their flaws when they did away with the defense completely. Bam! No problems there.

This was not a great win.  Lets not forget the fact that Washington for all their warts still has a very good defense.  It probably won't hold up much longer.  But a win is a win is a win.

There is no one that wants Reid out of here more than me, but he isn't going anywhere.  So the best we can hope for is that they catch lightning in a bottle.

Lol Phreak at you already saying the Giants will kill them.  Not that it won't happen, but this team plays NFC East opponents tough almost always.  This team definitely is not very good right now, but lets wait a little before we write their obituary.

The Giants have one of the best DL's in the league. = The Eagles OL has problems blocking

The Eagles have a very good DL and pressure package = The Giants have a great OL

Eli knows how to handle the pressure. If they blitz and don't get there, Smith, Manningham and Nicks are going to walk into the end zone. And don't forget Kevin Boss. He'll probably have 10 catches.

I don't like the match up, especially with them coming off two straight losses.

I feel what you're saying Phreak but I watched a good portion of that last Giants game and they looked almost as putrid as the Eagles.  Recievers dropping balls.  Eli throwing picks no run game to speak of and the defense getting no pressure whatsoever.  They would have been murderlized even worse if not for the lucky tipped pass that went for some sixty yards.

The problem with this iteration of Reids offense is that it mirrors the '05 offense: it's all or nothing, feast or famine.  I hope Westy is healthy enough to go because he seems to really give them the business running right at those vaunted pass rushers of theirs.  I think the recievers can and will get open on their secondary that is of little concern to me.  What is is what always is: the health of Westbroook.

Yeah he really played bad in the Cardinals game.

Why doesn't Dawkins get any blame for the unit he supposedly leads choking away a game that was in hand?  Big time players come up big right?  I mean he was running really fast after Fitzgerald, but I don't think that counts.

A metric on football outsiders.  It's supposed to tell who the best teams are adjusting for luck and what not I think.

I'm not so sure about the practicality of it though.  Its not as cut and dry as baseball.  Too many variables to account for.

Donovan played one of the worst first halves in the NFCCG that I've ever seen last year.

This isn't even about McNabb.  The team isn't winning this year regardless of who is at QB.  Might as well see what they have with Kolb, but thanks for inserting Dawkins (???) randomly into the conversation.

I saw it too, D...but I don't think they will come out and stink the joint up again. I hope the Eagles throttle their asses, but I just can't see it happening unless their OL gets night and day better.

The fact that the Giants running game is non-existent compared to years past is good news. Jacobs isn't himself and Bradshaw, while explosive, hasn't been great. If they can force Eli to throw repeatedly by either taking a huge lead or by eliminating the run game, it will help immensely.

If they are going to beat the Giants, they have to be able to exploit that secondary of theirs. Actually their pass defense as a whole. And the only way they can do that is if 5 has time.

McNabb is under contract next year correct?

I'll take McNabb in a wheelchair over Kolb.

Yep. I believe they guaranteed next year too

Drunkmasterflex

Jacobs has been close to awful.  I agree with Displaced the Giants have played really bad as well.  That is concerning because they are going to be backed in a corner, but this is a game if the Eagles o-line plays well that they can win.

Where did you see that?

Take McNabb in a wheelchair.  I have no problem with people who still want Donovan here.  I'm not one of them but I hope he does well with whatever remaining time he has in Philly.

He'll do just well enough to break your heart every year and keep Reid on the sidelines.

QuotePHILADELPHIA -- Donovan McNabb and the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to restructure the final two years of his contract.

McNabb

The five-time Pro Bowler was due to make $9.2 million this season and $10 million next season. ESPN's Michael Smith reported the two-year deal is worth $24.5 million, with another $1 million in incentives.

McNabb, who is entering his 11th season with the Eagles, had been seeking a contract extension. Instead, he'll get a raise.
