He's going to get 6 years, $100m, with $50+ guaranteed.

He looks great, fantastic. It's overwelhming how good he's playing. He's doing things no other qb in the history of the game has ever done. Still, it was the taterskins, and the Eagles will struggle to keep a good offense down in the low 20's. But, with the way the offense is playing behind Vick, this team has a chanced to win against anyone.

On top of that, movie producers should be calling any minute now ready to re-inact his comeback life to the screen. Right behind them, Nike execs are calling to apologize and just bought first class tickets to Philadelphia.

Who else am I forgetting that will make him more guaranteed money? Though Im fabricating those statements, this really is a remarkable story.

i dont know why everyone is in a rush to sign vick....why would you go to him about a new deal the day after possibly the best game ever by a qb

but in a general sense there is no rush to do it...if the eagles are serious about it they will get it done whether its next week or in february...and if vick is serious about hitting the open market hes going to do it regardless of when the eagles sit down and talk deal with him
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

I really think Mike Vick and Pootie Tang were separated at birth.

There's no rush, and I do agree that signing him this week would not be wise.  But is there any doubt he's the guy at this point?  Could the Eagles actually franchise/trade him and keep Kolb?  That's what scares me.

What is Kolb worth on the trade market?

I think he's worth (roughly) what Mcnabb was worth. He's not proven but he's shown enough to show he has what it takes...plus he's 26.

why would that scare you...id love to have both of them again next year when ideally with some tweaking elsewhere on the roster you will be a legit superbowl favorite....id hate for that to be the case and then have vick go down and mike kafka or someone like bruce gradkowski be your back up

really with the entire 2011 season up in the air and no one having any idea how a new cba would even work if they do agree to a deal its not worth going thru all the possibilities at this time

What really impresses me about the way Vick is playing, is the way his peers/predecessors are raving about his play. Really the standard media types are meaningless when it comes to evaluation of players. But when you hear guys like Steve Young, Boomer Esiason, Tim Hasselback, Warren Sapp, Charles White etc, etc just gushing about not just last night but his whole season, you have to really be convinced he is the top guy in the league.

If Charlie Whitehirst is getting picked up for 3rd rd picks (?), I can only imagine what Kolb could get traded for. Besides that, coaches and gm'a around the league realize even more now that Andy Reid produces some pretty capable starting qb's that it might be worth giving up a very high pick.

The Eagles should capitalize in a big way here, but I'm all for the franchise tag on Vick and keeping Kolb as the best back up in the league. There is a very good chance Vick gets hurt this year or next because you can see he hasn't learned and is still diving head first.

John Clayton's on Mike and Mike right now. He said the Skins didn't immediately sign Mcnabb because they were going to go after Vick after the season, but then they heard back from the Eagles saying they're going to re-sign him, so they made the deal.

This just gets better and better

Clayton's also saying Kolb's worth a 1st and a 3rd.

Clayton made a good point, he said now that Mcnabb's off the market there are no F/A QBs out there and there are a bunch of teams that need a QB, so the Eagles are in a good position. If they re-sign Vick and get a 1st for Kolb I'll be beside myself.

All those "insiders" (Clayton, Glazer, Schefter, et. al.) are frauds. They make up stories that can't be verified. They are always from "a source". I wouldn't put much stock in anything they say.
