Again, I hope they made the right decision. I really hope so. Because we're all going to suffer if they made the wrong call.

They could have beefed up the running game and OL and defense regardless of what happened with the QB position. I don't buy that they HAD to dump McNabb. They could have re-loaded with him.

They've been doing that for the past 5 seasons. That's an eternity in football. His chance was 2004 and he blew it. Was there any season after that one that you think they could have added a piece here or there and won the Superbowl?

So he only gets one legit chance?

Could they have done better in player evaluation and additions? Hell yes!

I mean, they signed Mike McfargingMahon as their only FA after the SB run!!

Dude he had 5 legit chances and blew it. You make it to the NFCC you step the farg up and play ball, not make excuses.

PhillyPhreak54

You said his chance was 2004.

And I will maintain that he was the main reason for their success (along with the defense in the early days) but was hampered by the management and coaching.

Its evident now that the FO is still blind.

They have their new shiny franchise QB lining up behind that sloppy ass OL.

This. You can say he was responsible for not winning the big one, but he was also probably reason #1a that they were even there in the first place. Imagine if the TO thing didn't blow up, or if he had a legit WR in the 2001-2003 years.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I'll take some suffering now, thanks. Frankly, I've had enough of watching this team stumble into the playoffs. If changing the quarterback is the first step on the road to no more worm burners, no more games with single digit rushing attempts, no more undersized players forced into positions they can't handle, no more Marty Morningwood, and no more god damned Andy Reid, I'm all for it. Bring on 1-15.

The man. The myth. The legend.

You take a couple more shots with the veteran QB and the young supporting cast. That is my opinion and how I think they should have handled it.

you are certifiably insane.....he only had one chance...what the farg??....he played 11 seasons made the playoffs seven times  the nfc title game five times and the superbowl once....he had more chances than almost anyone ever and couldnt get it done

add in his wearing down body his eroding skills and his disconnect with the young players on the team and it was the perfect time for him to go if you could get value for him and they got good value

theres no worse defense of mcnabb than the age old defense mechanism of giving him all the credit for getting to championship games but none of the blame for not winning them

igy is spot on here.

And Phreak, you just received the kiss of death in any argument when musnon agreed with you. Time to move on.

McNabb had two chances to beat the Cowboys last season.  Didn't he have one pass completion in the first half of one of those games?

If he'd beaten them on the first shot, the Eagles would have had a 1st round bye.  Instead, he played like crap two weeks in a row against the same team.  But that's not a "legit" chance?

Bottom line is that McNabb's not the guy.  Kolb may not be either, but it was time to shtein or get off the pot with him.  Is that really so hard to fathom?

farg the dallas games he was straight up overwhelmed and horrible there

his real chance the chance of a lifetime was in the nfc championship game at arizona

ball in hands three minutes to go with a superbowl visit on the line

yup

and he had plenty of weapons (Celek, Westbrook, D Jackson, Curtis) and a good O-line. Bottom line is great QBs rise to the occasion and get shtein done, Brady won his first SB with a lot less than what Donovan had.

Rome

Brady never had the arsenal of excuses available to Donovan not to mention a coach and owner who would back him no matter how awful he played in the last game of the season.

Don't forget the fact that he shtein the bed for much of the game before that.  He was missing wide open receivers for the entire first half.  Then, he finally made some great plays and rallied to a 1-point lead.  Then shtein the bed again after the D coughed it up.

They should have won that AZ game by double digits.

ice grillin you

yup...the amount of wide open running around the field that just pimp did in that game was astonishing

especially in the first half guys were free all over the place and the offense put up six points

they should have scored 40+ that game

They showed their youth.
I'm not from Philly but some say I'm blunt.
