My problem with Vick has always been that he was severely overrated as a QB by the media hype machine. Even on ESPN today some people were saying how teams had to respect his arm. That is wrong. No one ever respected him arm. It was always "stop his legs and win the game". I remember being nervous as hell prior to the 2004 NFCCG simply because of his running ability.

See... I think what people need to realize is that Vick isn't here to be a QB... at all.  He's not here to drop back and throw the ball 20-30 times a game.  He's here to be another athlete on the field for the Eagles O along with Westbrook, McCoy, Pimp, Maclin, Curtis, etc...  The fact that he was a terrible QB and all that is pretty much irrelevant right now because he's not here to take away snaps from McNabb.  Although if McNabb were to go down, I'd still take my chances with Vick waaaaaay before I handed the ball over to Kolb.

However, the fact that Vick was a QB plays in the Eagles favor because as inaccurate a passer he was, during a wildcat/gadget play, the defense will still have to be weary of him pulling up and throwing the ball at any time (and let's be honest, Andy would be a fool if he didn't allow Vick to throw at times out of the wildcat).  That little bit of hesitation could be all that Vick would need to make a big play with his feet.  Then on those occasions, where a defender is preoccupied with Vick with the ball in his hands, that could easily allow for Pimp or somebody to break free for a big play through the air.

Guys like Vick are tailor made for that wildcat shtein.  DH and I were talking the other day about that being the reason why Miami spent a 2nd rounder on Pat White.  They see tons of possibilities of having a wildcat athlete who can throw the ball as well as run it.  That's the thing the Eagles don't have with Pimp or Maclin, etc.  Hopefully, Vick still has the athleticism to pull this off... he makes some higlight reel plays during the season and gets his trade value up nice and high for next offseason.

If he doesn't, he rots away on the bench for a year and the Eagles drop him having only spent $1.6 mil.  Low risk, high reward.

Phreak I think when they say you have to respect his arm it is the fact that he has a rocket launcher for an arm.  Accuracy is a different story.

Peer pressure.  You just want to be liked, so you're buying in.  It's alright, you're only human.

I still hate the move, but wtf, it's done.   I can't root for Vick, just as I couldn't TO, but I don't care enough to keep complaining. 

Now I just hope it works out somehow and if it doesn't I'm gonna soak up the spectacle like a skink in the sun.
